Actually the harmony issues were the other 2 blokes, not Kelly and the lead guy. The harmonies weren't quite right BEFORE she joined. When they were singing the lower notes (as a group) it was fine. There was something about the upper register that one of those guys (or both) wasn't doing quite right.

Their pitching is a little off but they don't have any stage monitors only in-ear. If these things aren't setup correctly it's real difficult to sing in tune.
She couldn't sing under him...as the band has those parts covered, so it makes her sing above him. And she is right where she needs to be. The problem is that because that part is not in the actual song you hear every day on the radio, it sounds sharp and off key. But it is a beautiful harmony.

what makes Clarkson so great is that she puts real emotion in her songs when she signs. most of the other female artist of today are way to fake. they smile too often and they have this look on there face like they just wanna get the song over with.
Actually she was pitchy most of the way through, but, I think it sounded that way moreso because both their voices just don't blend, but, when you hear Carrie Underwood sing "Broken Road" with them it's perfect because her voice blends more with Gary....some vocalists voices blend together and some don't . Kelly is a nice vocalist in her own right, but this just didn't seem to work somehow.....just my thoughts !

That dude has great vocal control. Kelly Clarkson is my favorite IDOL and she will probably go down as the best when this series is over. She had all the ingredients of a star that i have not yet seen in anyone since. She had talent and showed that she was ready to be a star everytime she performed. She Rocked A.I.

I love Kelly Clarkson, but her voice does not sound that great with others. She's got too much vibrato to blend well. Not my fave version of the song.

What are you people talking about off-key? I'm sure you're all experts, right? Sure, some parts sound different, but the fault does not lie entirely with Kelly. She sang it right. I thought it sounded fine, to be honest. I hate how people bash one of the most down to earth, honest singers out there.

This is nice, but Kelly tries too hard to push her voice. Where as Rascal Flatts is a more laid back style. She did pretty good in some parts but just needs to relax in others.

what makes Clarkson so great is that she puts real emotion in her songs when she signs. most of the other female artist of today are way to fake. they smile too often and they have this look on there face like they just wanna get the song over with.

Actually she was pitchy most of the way through, but, I think it sounded that way moreso because both their voices just don't blend, but, when you hear Carrie Underwood sing "Broken Road" with them it's perfect because her voice blends more with Gary....some vocalists voices blend together and some don't . Kelly is a nice vocalist in her own right, but this just didn't seem to work somehow.....just my thoughts !

@elizabeth880 I never doubted the fact that she can sing. But there are certain songs that should never be touched, and I'm afraid this is one of the songs. She has an amazing voice and I love her, just she wasn't made for country music and I just feel she didn't quite nail it.

@HeatherHart24 I agree. It sucks to say it although the ending was perfect! They improvised very well together. I have to say that the lead singer of Rascal Flatts has skills!!! That dude has great vocal control. Kelly Clarkson is my favorite IDOL and she will probably go down as the best when this series is over. She had all the ingredients of a star that i have not yet seen in anyone since. She had talent and showed that she was ready to be a star everytime she performed. She Rocked A.I.
