You should be able to dance to funk, try singing/scatting some funky phrases then try to transfer it to guitar. Oh, and if you wanna know about funk listen to Phish and Tre Anastasio specifically Bonaroo 08 "push on til the day"
My dear girl, in my eyes you graduated on speed playing. No remember that speed does NOT mean that you play music.
Please I am old so listen. go down at least have the speed and start waving, sewing the notes one to another. It ios verry oke to be slilent for a count or 4 or 8.
Take your time.
You even carried on blistering while the back track stopped. so you did not listen.
Now search for the musialc part in your hart and you will get much better!
you have to worry about taking care of phrases, as birds do not understand much, if and is an introduction to development and a conclusion to your unproductive, do not immediately throw fast arpeggios, at least so that they understand what jeej touch is what I have learned only advice for you
"David Gilmour can do more with 1 note than most guitarists can do with the whole fret board" - Dave Mustaine. Slow down, Nobody cares how fast you can play. When I hear a solo, I want to hear and feel each note, burning up the frets just wastes notes. Playing with feel comes from the heart and it connects to the heart of others. Gilmour, West and Clapton mastered it. That`s why they`ve sold millions of records and there music endures the ultimate test, the test of time. Make each note count.
i love metal and i say this is no metal shred, its still in the funk genre, follow the root and it stays right on scale. plus metal is more neoclassical. rock on girl fuck these tards :D
It's obvious that you have great technical skills, but this wouldn't be an audition piece. What people are responding to here is the lack of phrasing. If this was a vocalist or horn player it would be described as someone who doesn't breathe. The only indication of phrasing here is sliding up or down the neck.
Better than me, lot's of talent there but where's the story? Do you know what I mean? I felt like I was just watching a display of what you can do....over and over and over. Maybe that's what you were shooting for.
This isn't really shredding. Shredding is more like mechanical ripping up and down scales, she is staying within a more blues/jazz structure, well that's my opinion. I think she rocks, wish I could do half of this stuff.
@joeyguitarlo No, she was shredding. She wasn't really sticking to any melodic idea or rhythmic center, she was more showcasing her talent. Im not saying thats a bad thing.. if you got the chops, show it off. But for jazzy blues, the better stuff tends to be a litte more reserved and
@RNRDOLL I just think that she seems to have some greater knowledge other than the ability to "shred". Seems like there must be a knowledge of jazz to some degree.
I like the way she plays, wish I had half the technique.
@joeyguitarlo I didnt say all she could do is shred. I said THIS particular video is more of a shred; a JAZZ shred, but a shred nonetheless. Shred is a GOOD thing, it only has a bad rep because there are guys like Yngwie who are so good technically, that they're almost incapable of laying back and being melodic. This woman has jazz chops for sure, especially using all those passing tones.
wow, if you could only fit more notes into this song, wouldn't that be great? Play faster...yeah faster faster...OK, this time with absolutely no feeling at all....that's it.....just shut your mind off and play more and more notes, but only faster this time!
Oh hell yes! I love some of that outside stuff your pulling off. Are you thinking the whole half-step away and resolve in or are you thinking in a super-imposed scale? ...Or are your ears just that hip. If so...I'm envious. As a player with 21 years into it now, my only critque is the SLIGHT rubberiness in your rhythmic feel. It sounds like you want to go faster than the music. PS, I'm a well educated player but I wish I could play as fast as you!
Great Job!, Did you already recorded jet (for a album or something?, if there is, I Wanna Buy one!!) Fusion Jazz/Rock!, the style of: Frank Gambale/ Greg howe/ Richie kozten!!!!
Greg Howe fusion stuff ;) Why not!! Keep up the good work girl! Music is a permanent evolution ... 99% skills, etc. ... 1%magic!! It's not easy to find that 1% ... ;) Cheers x
hey Katy! well in one year i see you have improves significantly!! wow for that. but as others mention you need to feel the rythm a little. wich i believe u will work on, take a look at Greg Howe how he plays over funky stuff.. that was fusion playing over a funk rythm and it didn't quite match. please don't take me wrong. a lot of people would like to be able to play like you.
nice. I don't really like the back beat, but you have a very nice "fused" sound. You technique is much more on the jazz side, but your tone is more on the fusion side.
you are really amazing at guitar! People keep mentioning that there is something missing... I believe you would add alot more soul to your playing if you let some of your phrases resonate and breathe a little...
Great¡¡¡...the improvisation is difficult whit a complex rith as Funk and Jazz...congratulations for you great tecnics and creativity¡¡¡¡..Regards from the South of Chile¡¡¡¡....
I relly like it, try to relax more your body and, try to giver more breath to each note, any ways exellent i really like the grove youe make and nice style imporvising ♫
WTF....She is blowing these Dorian passages like a saxophone player would... Her backing track stays in the key of F the whole time so she cant change keys..But theres a lot of interesting things going on in this solo...Its more Be-Bop
I too would like to see some vibratos within this playing. You also need to have a lobster crawling on the amp at some point, and maybe some stage magic to make it look as if it's raining inside the room.
