  • there's a bit of fusion going on here..

  • that was cool

  • shredding junk is not called funk

  • wouldn't call this funk

  • Holey Moley this is niiiiice! I don't play, but I've been listening for 57+ years, and I like this lady's style very much.

    .

Oh, and looky there, all the boys that can't play for shit are criticizing about whether it's funk or not. That is soooo Yawnsville Alabama.

  • i think this is not funk..

  • I guess it sounds more like a jazz rock style...

  • this was more close to shredding than anything else...she plays decent tough

  • i just have 2 words for u... “unnecesary notes“

  • technique but not feeling...

  • in my oppinion it does not seem very funky but it´s definitely well played ;-)

  • this is good but now do the same thing clean and with a wah pedal and it'll be real funk

  • i don't understand how anyone can live without reverb....

  • very very very impressive

  • the laptop losers that can only shoot down a persons performance crack me up...great job Kate

  • You should be able to dance to funk, try singing/scatting some funky phrases then try to transfer it to guitar. Oh, and if you wanna know about funk listen to Phish and Tre Anastasio specifically Bonaroo 08 "push on til the day"

  • Nice technique but slow down

  • My dear girl, in my eyes you graduated on speed playing. No remember that speed does NOT mean that you play music.

Please I am old so listen. go down at least have the speed and start waving, sewing the notes one to another. It ios verry oke to be slilent for a count or 4 or 8.

    Take your time.

You even carried on blistering while the back track stopped. so you did not listen.

Now search for the musialc part in your hart and you will get much better!

  • @edidepedi I think your comment should be included as a definition for "sanctimonious".

  • nice chops! i like the licks

ut there is still something missing like the guys said

but ani way you have some very nice chops mami

    keep on rocking!

  • use more vivrato and

you have to worry about taking care of phrases, as birds do not understand much, if and is an introduction to development and a conclusion to your unproductive, do not immediately throw fast arpeggios, at least so that they understand what jeej touch is what I have learned only advice for you

  • Very nice...I like your outside stuff.

  • "David Gilmour can do more with 1 note than most guitarists can do with the whole fret board" - Dave Mustaine. Slow down, Nobody cares how fast you can play. When I hear a solo, I want to hear and feel each note, burning up the frets just wastes notes. Playing with feel comes from the heart and it connects to the heart of others. Gilmour, West and Clapton mastered it. That`s why they`ve sold millions of records and there music endures the ultimate test, the test of time. Make each note count.

  • i love metal and i say this is no metal shred, its still in the funk genre, follow the root and it stays right on scale. plus metal is more neoclassical. rock on girl fuck these tards :D

  • Ignore these fuckers....I see where you were goin. Rockin peice.

  • It's obvious that you have great technical skills, but this wouldn't be an audition piece. What people are responding to here is the lack of phrasing. If this was a vocalist or horn player it would be described as someone who doesn't breathe. The only indication of phrasing here is sliding up or down the neck.

  • look at me i can move my fingers really fast on a guitar!! dislike.

  • what the funk is that? thats a piece of random shred

  • wheres the funk, i only see metal/shredding

  • shawdown and niqee90. I bet you two couldn't play this like her. I would bet you two sound like crap and only think you sound good

  • She is way better than Jacqueline Mannering.

  • ur shredding is good and clean but try it with a clean sound and some funky chords next time that works out better but damn ur shredding is good!

  • Better than me, lot's of talent there but where's the story? Do you know what I mean? I felt like I was just watching a display of what you can do....over and over and over. Maybe that's what you were shooting for.

  • This isn't really shredding. Shredding is more like mechanical ripping up and down scales, she is staying within a more blues/jazz structure, well that's my opinion. I think she rocks, wish I could do half of this stuff.

  • @joeyguitarlo No, she was shredding. She wasn't really sticking to any melodic idea or rhythmic center, she was more showcasing her talent. Im not saying thats a bad thing.. if you got the chops, show it off. But for jazzy blues, the better stuff tends to be a litte more reserved and

  • @joeyguitarlo melodically driven as opposed to being more lick driven like rock/metal would be.

  • @RNRDOLL I just think that she seems to have some greater knowledge other than the ability to "shred". Seems like there must be a knowledge of jazz to some degree.

I like the way she plays, wish I had half the technique.

  • @joeyguitarlo I didnt say all she could do is shred. I said THIS particular video is more of a shred; a JAZZ shred, but a shred nonetheless. Shred is a GOOD thing, it only has a bad rep because there are guys like Yngwie who are so good technically, that they're almost incapable of laying back and being melodic. This woman has jazz chops for sure, especially using all those passing tones.

  • Awesome, you play nice. I like this sort of technique. Great job! Who are your favorite musicians, sounds like you are into jazz a little bit there.

  • wath the fuck????

  • awful. slow the hell down and play something that makes sense! id rather to listen to you jam on one note, in time that any of that nonsense.

  • nice harmonic near the beginning :D sweet les paul too but i prefer sgs X

  • Odd picking but it sounds good!

  • wow, if you could only fit more notes into this song, wouldn't that be great? Play faster...yeah faster faster...OK, this time with absolutely no feeling at all....that's it.....just shut your mind off and play more and more notes, but only faster this time!

  • damn..i been playin for 13 years..and thats good..still dont know how u do it

  • holy shit really good.

  • Oh hell yes! I love some of that outside stuff your pulling off. Are you thinking the whole half-step away and resolve in or are you thinking in a super-imposed scale? ...Or are your ears just that hip. If so...I'm envious. As a player with 21 years into it now, my only critque is the SLIGHT rubberiness in your rhythmic feel. It sounds like you want to go faster than the music. PS, I'm a well educated player but I wish I could play as fast as you!

  • Without words, you play the guitar very nice and most beautiful are you.

  • keep it up!!! make more music

  • Great Job!, Did you already recorded jet (for a album or something?, if there is, I Wanna Buy one!!) Fusion Jazz/Rock!, the style of: Frank Gambale/ Greg howe/ Richie kozten!!!!

    Kinds Regards From Matthijs!

  • great job. God bless.

  • Greg Howe fusion stuff ;) Why not!! Keep up the good work girl! Music is a permanent evolution ... 99% skills, etc. ... 1%magic!! It's not easy to find that 1% ... ;) Cheers x

  • truth be told bluetrainloco

  • hey Katy! well in one year i see you have improves significantly!! wow for that. but as others mention you need to feel the rythm a little. wich i believe u will work on, take a look at Greg Howe how he plays over funky stuff.. that was fusion playing over a funk rythm and it didn't quite match. please don't take me wrong. a lot of people would like to be able to play like you.

  • @camelspottergr I really agree with this comment, feel the groove, more notes doesn't mean better. still quite good!

  • SHAWDOWN has right you need to feel the sound. fast parts looks like random as ASRM says...

  • awesome!

  • аа.. вот это уже неплохо..а то какой-то гоп-концерт с безумной вокалисткой..

  • ole tu cho cho

  • fast parts sound just random. work on it. you can even play just slow.

  • what school do you go to?

  • Криво и немузыкально!((((((((((((((

  • Wow look at all of these people like'' you need more feeling'' or ''ehh ok but i've seen better''

    What a bunch of haters......

  • nice. I don't really like the back beat, but you have a very nice "fused" sound. You technique is much more on the jazz side, but your tone is more on the fusion side.

    But still pretty good.

  • Amazing technique.

  • Funk isn't about shredding. Funk is about rhythm and feeling.

  • @shawdown let's call it fusion, not funk then.

  • @shawdown What if your feeling leads it to involve shredding? Does the world end or do you just fall down dead of a heart attack?

  • Comment removed

  • Great playing!!!!!!!!

  • apparently a lot of people are too cool to appreciate this. That shit was ill as hell girl

  • don't think.. just feel it..!!

it was good, but you'll get better than this.

  • I don't feel the funk in this solo. more the jazz:O

  • this is good !

  • needs more feeling

  • yheaaaa

  • you are really amazing at guitar! People keep mentioning that there is something missing... I believe you would add alot more soul to your playing if you let some of your phrases resonate and breathe a little...

  • That was straight up sick! Excellent guitar work!

  • Fuck yeah, I'm gonna go practice..

  • gotta resolve

  • ive been watching your videos and your very good but your missing something....but i dont know what.

  • The special umph that makes it different from listening to great guitar players and those still playing scales a lot.

  • Great¡¡¡...the improvisation is difficult whit a complex rith as Funk and Jazz...congratulations for you great tecnics and creativity¡¡¡¡..Regards from the South of Chile¡¡¡¡....

  • I relly like it, try to relax more your body and, try to giver more breath to each note, any ways exellent i really like the grove youe make and nice style imporvising ♫

  • may I see a video of yours?

  • WTF....She is blowing these Dorian passages like a saxophone player would... Her backing track stays in the key of F the whole time so she cant change keys..But theres a lot of interesting things going on in this solo...Its more Be-Bop

    than Metal

  • Woah. yeah you're right. I like that.

  • need more creativity,u just do the same thing all the time, change a little bit =]

  • Those are some COMPLEX - Dorian Patterns....BABY!!!!

  • her skills are awesome but the improvisation was a piece of crap.. sorry but thats the truth :)

  • OK :)

  • OK, perhaps that was a little harsh :-)

  • I had to watch it agian it was so awesome

    5*

  • This is why woman should not play guitar. Garbage! Garbage!

  • that's what i was thinking

  • SICK...

  • Yyyeeeeeeah!!!! 5 Stars ;-)

  • Algarete.. But OK...

  • nice playing! this make me want to practice again :)

  • lacks a bit in the vibrator department...

  • Agree

  • I just love a woman who can possibly go head on with me playing guitars.... Awesome babe.... YOU ROCK!!!!

  • Amazing technique, i just fail to see the funk in it, only the scales. I wish i had her skills tho :p

  • Amazing chops, lacks a bit in the vibrato deparement tho' , but other than that, f'kin amazin!

  • you are fucking smoking!!!

  • It's pretty much practicing scales. "Not that theres anything wrong with that, We all need to do that.

I think you really soar when you are playing live with the band.

What kind of amp is that?

  • You should listen to Frank Zappa, you have a cryptic playing style quite like his .... Nice :)

  • cool, nice tone!

  • Wow, this young lady can play. I watched a few of her videos now, and I think she needs to revisit her tone. Get a new amp.

  • What scales are bein used in this, I love the sound in this improve. thanks. :)

  • good

  • its an improv... its not meant to sound perfect

  • way to b a dick

  • nice nice.. dense playing.. i would also like to see some vibratos within this playing.. cheers

  • I too would like to see some vibratos within this playing. You also need to have a lobster crawling on the amp at some point, and maybe some stage magic to make it look as if it's raining inside the room. If you do not post a new video with all of these changes as I have dictated thusly then I may never watch your videos again, and if you think I'm ever subscribing you've got another thing coming!

  • Great improvisation... you rock!!!

And you´re right. Art is not about gender, but you know how strange and unfair our world is.

    5/5

  • Lets write a song together!!!

    Enjoyed your playing very much!!

  • Katya ! first , listen song and then play... not in tempo sometimes ! btw nice solo . just

  • I HATE that pseudo rock-progressive rock guitar tone more than I hate mariachi music, and that is A LOT!, however, very fine playing!

  • fantastic...i feel dizzy

  • Gambale Garsed esque. Lots of feeling too. Nice!

  • Just because she didn't play any chords in this video doesnt mean she can't play any chords...

    Either way this was awesome

  • You fucking own.

  • I love you

  • whats that behinde the bridge?

  • Really Good. Jazzy influence. Like it ! I agree with the guy below : the girl band is excellent !

  • really impressed! i checked out the entire girl band video! my just fabulous! however there is one thing ur missing- one groove, 2nd- u need to improve your feel.. really nice. a good example of groove would be the way the jamiroquai guitarist handles rhythm.

  • Wow. She could go on forever.

  • Very stylish. I like it. Wanna jam? lol

  • Wow how old are you ???? nice

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • muy bienn tu si que sabes tocar la guitarra
