  • 8 Bit for each Channel (4 Channels) with Tricks it was 14 Bit (by combination of 2 Channels)

  • This looks like a cartoon! lol I like the Squilla character, but the music sucks. And the constant firing sound is bugging my ass! But at least it was nice and colourful

  • Does the Amiga have 16-bit audio?

  • @dimmddr1

    /watch?v=Fvha_2hAzq0

  • @REALSlutHunter How does that answer my question?

  • @dimmddr1

It show's just, that it does not matter, 8 or 16 Bit the Amiga Sounded Great.

  • @REALSlutHunter I am merely wondering: Did the Amiga have a 16-bit or 24-bit or other audio processor?

  • Music is definately better than the primitive-sounding St version.

  • THE X68k MACHINE (AND GAMES) ARE BETTER BUT UNFORTUNETLY ARE JUST ARCADE COPIERS JUST A MACHINE WITH NO GREAT SCENE LIKE AMIGA.AMIGA COULD DO THE ARCADE PORT BUT WHEN A JAPANESE GAME PORTED FROM OTHER NO JAPANESE COMPANIE LIKE ELITE,MELBOURNE HOUSE,GAMETECH ETC THE RESULT IS SIMPLY BAD.ALSO THE SHARP68K WAS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE AMIGA.AMIGA HAS ITS OWN RANGE OF GAMES.THOUSANDS OFKICKASS GAMES (LIONHEART PROJEXTX ASSASSIN.....).

SHAME THAT SHARP X68k DIDNT HAD SCENE.A HUGE SCENE LIKE AMIGA

  • It's a shame the x68k was never released in the US, it's port was nearly arcade perfect AND had the new bosses from the SMS version...

  • not too shabby. but i preferred it on the Sega 32X. but the hardware on there was a bit more up to date than the Amiga (yes i know the Genesis/Megadrive had the same Motorola Processor as the Amiga).

  • the framerate sems to be high but i dont like the music in this version.

best version of the space harrier main theme is in that japanese master system bios

  • I loved this game on my amiga. Loved the music. Good playing.

  • @Cubex55 Elite re-released Space Harrier later with all the full levels. Only the early release had just 10 stages.

  • I had the better 60Hz version of this game, with the real arcade voice samples. The mouse control is what makes it great . Graphics and sound don't compare to X68K version.

  • amiga is fine - but the owners of the old amiga computers were generally a bunch of schnidey 'we're better than atari st so neh' bunch of kunts

if it wasnt for the fact all lot of same games were cooler on the atari despite having inferior hardware and sound capability to the amiga - i think that is what got under the old amiga player's noses

  • @sparklebucket

You're living in a fantasy world. Most games were "cooler" on the Amiga.

Whoops - I suppose that kind of proves your point, that us Amiga owners were "we're better" types. Well, whatever - Amiga *was* better! ;-)

  • @extragubbe yeah whatever fuck

  • @sparklebucket

I suppose asking for facts or even opinions would be time less well spent with you.

  • This one was real fun. Thanks for posting man.

  • I remember playing this game ages ago and had completely forgotten about it until I stumbled upon it. Absolutely classic!

  • this game is so cool and is the best shoot em up that i played

  • This was the first game I knew that tried to emulate a 3-D environment, I had looked at some pictures in magazines and while they were very unimpressive I was sure the actual gameplay would be awesome. I don't know why but I've never liked Space Harrier very much, maybe the pseudo 3-D graphics were still too primitive for my taste but I have to say something for it: thanks to Space Harrier developers knew which way to go and now we can play some great titles inspired by its gameplay.

  • Now on to the gameplay: I find it very stressing having to deal with wave after wave of enemies coming your way while you're trying to avoid obstacles coming at you at the speed of light and dodge enemy fire at the same time. Your character's weapon leaves a lot to be desired and you can't see what you're aiming at because he blocks what's in front of you. Your range of movement feels very limited and for the most part you don't know what's happening on the screen.

  • Still, I watched the whole thing and the ending, while unexpected, was a nice touch... "WELCOME TO THE FANTASY ZONE!"

  • @LaVeyCharkusVeros I thought it said fancy zone !

  • @LaVeyCharkusVeros

Gotta play the original arcade version.

  • The ingame music sounds like the Sega Master System Startup from Japan. Check out it here:

  • 15:14 Get ready? For what? To be saved by Uriah, the Magic Angelic Dragon? LOL

  • 2:12 GEEZA? HAHAHAHAHA! Diamond Geeza! Seriously, this is first time I've looked at this game on any format. Could be remade on the PC if it hasn't already?

  • Oooh my, this port is disastrous. The C64 somehow seems to beat it in every regard ....

  • Hitler sounds pissed, reduced to video game voicework.

  • @ComCodex LOL

  • I had a Sega Master System, This version would have blown my mind if I had seen it. Because I played the SMS version First, and there is an exclusive last Boss for SMS, I still like the SMS version Best.

  • Why does the music sound so depressing in this port, anyway?

  • The "Get Ready!" sounds like Hitler lol =)

  • You mean it sounds like it's saying "Hitler" or it sounds like Hitler saying "Get ready!"?

  • LOL @"Get ready"

This isn't too bad. But it's of course easy to see it's faults.

  • This is truly a classic.

  • Aside from the Japan-only x68000 port, this is the closest you could get to a arcade-perfect port until the Sega 32x port.

  • @poopskinTheLiar what about the TurboGraphx version ?
