Fender 50`Strat Mexico Texas Special Pickups

great amp! very beautuful clean sound. i`m thinking about buying it, but i would like to play metal on this. bands like megadeth, randy rhoads and metallica. would i need a booster like the metal muff or something like that? bitte antworte^^

i think, You can play this, when you take overdrive pedals, but cause of this Pickups, you will get very much noise and hum, so that it will be better , you take another pickups (humbucker) with very high output, to get "your" very distorsed sound... (sorry for my bad english)

excellent tone, gotta love those pick ups, and they sound excellent through a marshall amp. I have a similar set up but a american special with the same pick ups through a marshall dsl 50 1960 4x12av cab. great improvising, surf green is my fav.

Great tone on that guitar. How do you like the 50's style neck? Is it much thicker than a standard C shape? I have been eyeballing this surf green 50's MIM for a while now. Great playing.

@Magik1369 This Neck is a nearly 2-3 mm thicker, then the standard C-shape, but it is a good feeling to play, when you did play on this neck for a while... .)

On a marshall Amp, try all potis at "7" - that`s the original sound setting from SRV on amarshall-Amp... if you have this settings, try a little bit, it shoud go... on Fender amps, get the bass at 4, mid an high at 3, bright switsch off... so you should near be at his sounds...

You can get them in erery Musicshop, when they sell Fender-Guitars an parts, this Pickups are from Fender, they are "custom-Shop-Pickups", in Germany the price for this set is by 170,- Euro. Look at online auktion warehouse, there you can get them too!

In germany, the mexico strat´s will be (fine)adjustet by the dealer...the standart Mexico strat has no alderbody, but an Basswood Body...Tmore I don`t know about the standart mexico Strats.

Standard Stratocasters made in Mexico have alder bodies just as the one made in the US and the necks for all fender guitars made in Mexico are build in the US you can check it out at Fender's website. Greetings!! @rallegai

if you want classic 50's tone with modern output these will take you there but you need to buy a tube amp. These pickups are hot and tend to sound bright but with a tube amp these sound great. I own them and I own a fender Hotrod Deluxe best combo ever.

hello, yes, you can do ! there is no problem, to fix them in your Guitar...you only need a new pickupplate for 3 singlecoils, and maybe new pickup covers...one of them you need for the treble pickup, cause the TS will be sold without covers !

yes !! it´s a modern Copy from Mexico, and this Modell has a 5-way-switch ! :)

Last year I realized that and I bought classic 50's player. It was 545€(In USA 799$ :):)

On the other hand, classic 50 strats are 860€ in Turkey.I'm living in Turkey.Everything expensive here. What a shame!

Actually that's about all the 'texas special' pickups can do, they are meant to be played clean only, if you use distortion or overdrive these pickups sound like an overdrived bass guitar rather than a strat. these pickups are only meant for the SRV or clean blues tone.

My Texas Special decrease in volume when I use 2 pickups instead of just one. Is this due to the reverse polarity middle pickup when one of the others is on. Anyone else see this problem. Not a problem really just turn it up. But just wondering. thanks
