who wouldent want to be immortal? i wouldent because after judgement day you would be the only person alive and if not you wouldent have a planet to be on
Completely as an aside to punishment in cruelty... (there's quite a bit of that in the 2 parter already O.o like the family, Martha, JS, DR, Matron... but let's NOT get into that XD)
I think this scene and the previous one really showcases Tennant's ability as an actor. His taking up different persona is extremely amazing and you could believe that JS and the Doctor are two different people. As I'm typing this, for some reason the scene involving Cassandra is playing across my mind... OAO
Its gotta be said, I don't like the look of that hydrokinometer. It seems to be indicating you've got energy feedback all the way through the retrostabilizers feeding back into the primary heat converters! Cause if there's one thing you shouldn't have done, you shouldn't have let me press all those buttons. But in fairness I will give you one word of advice...RUN!
@Evanest25isBack no, they wanted to live forever, they were about to die, he made sure they wouldn't die, yes they wouldn't be able to enjoy it, but he gave them their wish.
@Evanest25isBack Yes, however, remember the family killed several people in order to get as far as they did, so the Doctor's sense of justice made sure they wouldn't forget what got them into the predicament they got themselves into...Is a judge evil in sentencing a murderer to justice, no, and neither was the Doctor.
@beesly01 To be killed isn't as bad as to live forever in such a horrible way,so it's not justice.Think just at the fact that after death you feel nothing.
What you praise as justice is really the need to feel power over the punished, but it's labeled as something right so the punisher wont feel remorse.
@BrownEyedBabyxox Yeah, the Doctor was always cruel to Martha. I am shocked when I see that so many people missed how horribly the Doctor treated her. It was shoved down our throats all season! How could anyone miss it? Well, I'm glad that Martha overcame all her suffering and became a better person. Martha is such a remarkable woman.
@BrownEyedBabyxox A lot of the time I don't think he does care about Martha at all. Maybe the Rose fans are right and he just wants to bring Rose back so they can kill Martha together. Eh-no. I think that's being a little too dramatic. I seriously have to struggle to believe that he cares about Martha though.
@BrownEyedBabyxox I agree that was an unnecessary cruel moment as it implied that Martha's sacrifices and loyalty meant nothing to the Doctor which unfortunately does seem to be the case.
Couse if there's one thing you shouldn't have done. You shouldn't let me press all those buttons. BUT, in fairness, i will give you one word of advise. Run :)
Come to think of it, it was probably a good thing that they didn't show us the transformation from John Smith back to the Doctor. Seeing how heartbraking the last scene was, I think it would have killed us all.
Unbelievable! The Doctor ran from the Family to be "kind" to them, while not giving a rat's ass for what could happen to Martha, alone in 1913. Forget about aliens, she was the only Black person seemingly for miles around and those aristocratic boys had a bad reputation in those days as they were known to get away with both rape and murder of White commoners, so no one would have challenged them abjout Martha.
I'm really incensed about these two episodes on Martha's behalf.
The Doctor didn't choose 1913. He simply chose to change. When he changed, the TARDIS chose the scenario and created the person of John Smith. To say he abandoned Martha without a care in the world for her is wrong my opinion. He thought of absolutely everything to look after her while they hid from the Family except the one thing that wouldn't occur to him - falling in love. It wasn't about the Doctor looking after Martha but the other way round.
@jonniegrieve@jonniegrieve The TARDIS choose the scenario after the Doctor choose the time period and the place, so the circumstances to which Martha was subjected to is all on the Doctor. How can the Doctor justify not wanting to hurt the aliens that were trying to kill them for his lifeforce at Martha's expense, look at what she endured? And no Martha was not better for the experience because Martha had a perfectly great life before she ever met the Doctor unlike Rose or Donna.
@Lucille7777 Actually, it was the TARDIS who chose the destination and I think she did it on purpose because she was trying to help Martha see the truth and make Martha realize she deserved ALOT better than the Doctor. Then again, that might just be my wishful thinking.....
@Meangrl19 Uh, I believe it was the Doctor who choose the destination but it was the TARDIS who choose the circumstances, the teacher alias, but in Martha's blog from the BBC it stated that the Doctor told Martha of his wars and that Martha felt bad about all he'd suffered so the Doc decides to take Martha to a concert, somewhere, but when they arrived the Blood Family is waiting for them. The Doctor set-up Martha, it wasn't a coincidence then he asked her "do you trust me?" He played her.
THE DOCTOR'S BACK!!! Yeeeeeee! Oh I love him! "You really shouldn't have let me press all those buttons!" lol!! I just love how his language changes immediately! David Tennant is such a brilliant actor!
@redfoxonstilts I know but you have to remember, the Doctor actually wants a normal, human life. He had a chance to have it and the family took it from him. Of course he was angry and upset. But you would've thought the family would put up a bit of a fight instead of just sitting there looking guilty.
David is so amazing as an actor, he can change from a 900+ year old time lord to a mid 30's school teacher from 1913 in a second
