The majority of the troops believe they are saving a country from a dictator. But if that was the Senate's intentions, we would have pulled out in 2004. Actually waleeed, the US armed forces could have fought the "elite Republican Guards" with one hand tied behind their backs--but that would prolong their agony--so they decided to finish the job quickly, so the RGs can be with their 72 virgins sooner.
BTW: War's objective logic is to use every means to defeat an enemy.
