Right on Tage...the death and suffering of Jesus on the cross is what our sins look like to God. Jesus suffered and died in our place. Jesus was God in the flesh, pure and Holy, who fulfilled God's law perfectly, and He took our punishment so that we might live with God eteranally. I put my trust in Jesus, that He suffered what I should have, and that He saved me and I will live with Him for all etternity.

I was not actually raised as a Christian. I was raised by many different people, some were also atheists, some were hippies, some were even what I would almost call satanists. I had plenty of exposure to many different things, ways of living, ideals, ideas, morals & ethics but at the end of the day I always knew Christ to be the truth. From before I could even remember, (and no one ever taught me about Christ as a very little girl) I knew Christ to be the truth. I was not brainwashed or taught.

Trust me when I tell you that my beliefs are based very much reason and hold much logical merit. Reason requires observation, insight, logic, testing and consistency. Isn't this why science has always struggled against the oppression of the clergy??
Faith sometimes comes through reason, oddly enough. But then again, your idea of reason and mine could be quite different and just like IQ, reason tends to work on a sliding scale. Science has always struggled against religious clergy but God focussed people have always seen and appreciated the merits of science. Faith is not at all the opposite of reason as faith can be based upon knowledge...personal knowledge of Christ in my life enables me to reasonably conclude that He does exist.

Hi AHearts Spring, I think people turn away from God when that first love simmers down into the normal every day relationship. Even with people, it is all full on and then it slows down to a calm and peaceful pace. We live in a world that advocates the cheap & temporary thrills and spills where when the gloss wears off you move on to something else. Pt 2 to follow...

Crucifixion is probably one of the most awful ways to die... no denying it. What interests me, though, is that people seem to forget about the hundreds of thousands (or more?) who were crucified under the Romans. It was not an unusual way to die if you were hated by the powers of the day.

Simon, of course the guy in this footage is not the Christ. He is acting the part and for that matter, we are lucky it is not the real thing, for if it were, I doubt any of us could stand to watch what was really done to him in the flesh, for I fear it would be much worse than this video portrayed it. However, this video is probably the most realistic that I have ever seen. The pity is that assertions such as yours harm no one but yourself and that is probably the saddest thing of all.

Right on Tage...the death and suffering of Jesus on the cross is what our sins look like to God. Jesus suffered and died in our place. Jesus was God in the flesh, pure and Holy, who fulfilled God's law perfectly, and He took our punishment so that we might live with God eteranally. I put my trust in Jesus, that He suffered what I should have, and that He saved me and I will live with Him for all etternity.

I was not actually raised as a Christian. I was raised by many different people, some were also atheists, some were hippies, some were even what I would almost call satanists. I had plenty of exposure to many different things, ways of living, ideals, ideas, morals & ethics but at the end of the day I always knew Christ to be the truth. From before I could even remember, (and no one ever taught me about Christ as a very little girl) I knew Christ to be the truth. I was not brainwashed or taught.

Barrabus was simply a murderer. To the Romans and the clergy, Jesus was so much more dangerous. He espoused the idea of usurping the need for priests, scribes and pharisees. He declared that people did not need to go to the temples to make sacrifices and offerings in order that the priests approach God on their behalf. Of course they wanted him out of the way. Barrabus or the potential total collapse of their religious system & thus ability to take money etc from the people. Easy, free Barrabus!

You prove through your evidence that God created us as vastly complex and intelligent thoughtful, free willed human beings. It was His will that we think for ourselves and that we decide what we will or won't believe. It isn't that you are no good at leading people to reason, it is that your idea of reason differs to others definitions of reason. It is nothing to be concerned about.

Faith sometimes comes through reason, oddly enough. But then again, your idea of reason and mine could be quite different and just like IQ, reason tends to work on a sliding scale. Science has always struggled against religious clergy but God focussed people have always seen and appreciated the merits of science. Faith is not at all the opposite of reason as faith can be based upon knowledge...personal knowledge of Christ in my life enables me to reasonably conclude that He does exist.

It is my personal opinion that all living creatures are born with an innate knowledge that God exists; that He is their creator. I am neither a slave nor oppressed and yet yes, I am a woman. My faith is not immoral and I do not personally execute scientists or atheists and I do not personally know of anyone who does. And I do not garner "special favour" through my faith. I do however garner a great deal of hope, but that is extended to everyone else who cares to accept it. Do not paint me to be some torturing killing Papal relic of the Dark Ages. By virtue of my love for and my faith in Jesus Christ; it doesn't wash.

So I think we might agree that any religious dogma is detrimental to humanity as it becomes a tool of oppression against weaker groups or 'non-believers'.
Believing in any one God is irraional since a person's belief system is entirely determined by their place of birth and culture. Beisdes, why would an omnipotent being leave the majority of us in ignorance and only reveal himself to a mason in Judea (Jesus) or an illetarate merchant (Muhammad)??? Fables, that's all.

Don't forget there is an abyss of difference between someone who subscribes to religious dogma and someone who truly believes in Jesus Christ. Don't make the mistake of confusing the two, for they are poles and worlds apart in meaning. And Jesus was not a Mason and God does not leave any person in ignorance who does not desire to be left that way. It is called freewill and he said that he would NEVER encroach upon our freewill. Man is free to act as he pleases in regard to that.

Thru, I can honestly say that there is a certain threshold that mankind crossed that he should not have ever breached. No form of human life should be condemned to death in order to preserve another. Life should not be exploited to further the number of years allocated to us. Everything has a reason, a season, a why and a wherefor. Though we may not completely understand the why, it does not make this any less true.

Don't misquote what I said. I believe in "us" as in we are all equal under God, no one person more worthy than another. Division is not something intended nor promoted by Jesus Christ. He came for the 'least' of them, not what we might assume as the 'best' of them. Evil deeds don't just disappear because of my faith. It isn't licence to commit more evil deeds. What it is? Hope and forgivness, but I can't just knowingly do what harm I like and expect it to be forgiven. It doesn't work that way.

New Zealand has one of the highest rates of child murder in the OECD. NZ also has the third highest abortion rate in the OECD. Our stats for crime and murder are some of the worst in the OECD. Do not mistake this place for a beautiful mecca, it isn't. It has its beauty like all places, but it also has an ugly side. As for living without God, not only can I not, but I do not desire to.

The crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, could never be fully comprehended or understood by a mere video or movie. The power and love of God that was extended toward all mankind by the shed blood of Christ can only be imagined. No movie clip could ever do justice to the pain or shame our Saviour bore. In all actuality what we really need to focus on is the resurrection. Christ died in agony but he arose in glory.
