well the cheap jew stereotype came about only because there was a period of time where the only jobs jews could have was being a money lender, and since they had to collect interest for their job, there was a 'cheap jew' stereotype.
and no doubt there are cheap jews out there, but it's like that in any group. hardly enough to have a good reason to keep the stereotype going even though it does.

Dude, I'm jewish and the whole drop a penny thing REALLY pisses me off. I once had a friend who boasted that he would pick the penny up, every time he said this, I wanted to attack him. I think it's good to be frugal but not to be cheap. Frugal is when you don't buy lotto tickets or fancy clothes, cheap is when you won't lend a friend a few dollars or when you pick up that damn penny. I'm frugal, and watch my money like a hawk, but no one's ever called me cheap.

My answer to that question is, "I wouldn't be up on the cliff to begin with, so the question is not applicable", lol. Cliffs are beautiful and once up there most are not looking 'down" on the ground, and a penny couldn't be seen down below. I do not understand the purpose of that question; do you?
