  • I like it more a tad slower. It's more sentimental that way.

  • I like it more a tad slower.

  • i think a lot of people in their lives get to a point where they find what they want in the struggle to reach their dreams, without exactly getting there the way they planned. Thanks expressing this in such a beautiful way title of show :]

  • That voice is soooo [title of show]!!

  • I'm having a kick ass time listening to this

  • 3 people are ugly trolls with no souls or taste

  • This is so beautiful.

  • Where is she supposed to be in this? D: I have to sing this for my musical theater class and I need to know XD

  • @Heterormorphic if it's not too late... go to 4shared.com and type in "title of show" the entire libretto of the show is available there to download (for free). that'll give you plenty of context (obviously)

  • @Heterormorphic a little late i know, but in the broadway production, she sings in to the audience in an undefined space for the first half, and in the second half after Jeff, Hunter, and Susan reunite, then turn her attention to her and it is assumed they are in the same location, most likely the appartment. This show isn't really big on defining spaces, but it's still one of my favorites :D

  • this song never fails to make me cry like a baby

  • Three people were never able to find their way back to then. This is beautiful

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Thanks Heidi for giving me the inspiration to do theatre. You're my idol.

  • @theatrelover10 My sentiments exactly.

  • LOVE IT!!! <3

  • I love this song... I sing this song and it's a moving capture of our lives as performing artists. I would like to thank Heidi for giving me the real feeling of how this song should go. I really punch it out, but again it always depends on your audience.

  • Brilliant!

Who are the morons that disliked this?

    Jackasses.

  • @buriedlovely

I agree... this song is one of my faves

  • You like this version? Look for the video of her singing it at the 2008 Broadway on Broadway with the energy of 50,000 people in the audience.

  • You can tell she was born to sing.

  • Heidi is amazing! And she's SO humble!

  • want this for districts now! aya

  • I luv here and she is such a good singer and i also luv this song!!!! its ahmazing!!!

  • She is unbelievable.

  • It's absolutly perfect from beginning to end. For me, it's one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard simple as it may be.

  • God. I wish I could have seen this so much. I love this song, this musical. <3

  • i have the chills this is the most beautiful song in the whole entire world... why did the show have to close before i saw it.... this song can make me cry it's just so gorgeous <3

  • this is absolutely beautiful. never heard it before and it's just become one of my favourite songs. it's soooo truthful.

  • I sobbed the first time I heard this song. It really touched me on a personal level....so truthful and brilliant.

  • WOW. Chills. Damn.

  • She's singing about a life I want to live!

  • yup same here, especially the "moving to new york and becoming a college theater dork."

  • yup. I just wish I could have seen this show.

  • This song made me cry the first time I heard it. So heart-felt.

Glad it got the best book nomination- well deserved.

  • She riffs amazingly! Wow!

  • oppositeofwar...you are FUCKING RIGHT!

How can they deny this voice!?!

  • does anyone have this whole show?? I see so many good quality clips.. where are they coming from?

  • I loved this show so much and would have loved to have seen it again and again. This was brilliant.

  • I hope she is nominated for a tony!

  • Fucking robbed. She was FUCKING ROBBED.

  • i can't agree more.

  • I love this. They're beautiufl.

  • does anyone know if the sheet music is available???

  • 1) go to titleofshow [DOT] com

    2) Click [ticket info for show]

    3) Questions about show.

It's the second question; the info is there. ;]

  • She's amazing. Actually, her voice in some songs reminds me quite of the lovely Idina Menzel...not to say that Heidi is an imitation or anything!

  • is this coming to DVD?

  • so simply elegant, just like Heidi.

  • I love this song. It's amazing, and so effortless.

  • can they still b nom for tonys

  • I HOPE SO! Something tells me that they still can I think!

  • I think they are this year.

  • wait, is the name of the show [title of show]?

  • yes.

  • I think everyone can relate to this song.

  • *sniff* this song makes me cry, i love it!

  • AMAZING AMAZING AMAZNG...<3

  • I had the fortunate opportunity to see this on Broadway. While Heidi sang, she began to tear (and she wasn't the only one) as she tells her dream with such sincerity and artristry. Truly one of the greatest moments on stage, and certainly among the best musicals ever. Bravo to the whole cast!

  • I can understand. I can't even listen to it without crying.

  • I love this song.

And Heidi Blickenstaff's voice is unreal.

I love the way she sings "Again" at 2:05. That little breath in the middle works for some reason.

  • I know what you mean. A good singer knows that sometimes, emotion is more important than "sounding pretty." I love this song.

  • where

    to

    get

    this

    sheet music????????

    i neeeeeed it.

  • Heidi will make one kick-ass Ursula on Broadway in The Little Mermaid.

  • No one can touch this song. Of all the copies and "covers" I've watched on youtube, nothing can hold a match flame close enough.

    No offense.

  • Heidi Blickenstaff kicks some serious ass. PERIOD

  • I could be crazy, but I think she would make an awesome Elphaba. Anyone agree? Her voice is AMAZING.

  • this show is like ave q meets forbidden broadway meets songs for a new world

  • If this show doesn't win something for any frickin' awards show craziness, I will be pretty pissed.

I had never seen anything like it and it was genuine art.

  • I'm guessing this was professionally recorded...? Any news of some sort of DVD being made available? That would be CRAMAZING!

  • After tracking TOS for the past couple years and stuff...I dont even personally know Heidi...but when she sings this I feel so...proud of her you know? I cant help but be beaming when she sings!

  • Dear Lord,

Please let them go one tour.

    Thanks

  • Amen.

  • Gosh I already miss this show on Broadway. I got to see it, thankfully, but I would love to see it again sometime. "[title of show]" THE MOVIE!!

  • please. it's [title of film based on show]

  • HOLY CRAP.

    SHES THE BEST.

  • how long did it last on broadway? i'm mad i missed out about learning about this show until after it closed.

  • It will be back in time.

  • I'm so sad that [title of show] closed so soon on B'way. I wanted to see it and the incredible cast!!!!!!!!!

Heidi is so great! She did a beautiful job on this song!

But the good news is that Heidi is going to be Ursula in The Little Mermaid!!!

  • Is she? Thats awesome!

  • This song gives me chills, and the end makes me cry. It breaks my heart that this show has been ripped off broadway

  • WHAT?!?!!?!!??!!?!?

  • Yea, closed a few months ago and it sucks..

  • LOVE her.

  • She easily has become one of my favorite performers.

  • Oh my god. It's EFFORTLESS.

  • I've been searching for a word to describe this performance. Effortless. Perfect word to use. It is utterly effortless.

  • <3 love it@@@@@@@@@@@@

  • i can't get over how much i'm in love with her. if i weren't a gay man, i'd marry her. love love love you blick-ster!

  • Beautiful. She is fabulous.

  • Heidi is such a phenomenal actress. I'm so glad she didn't over act this song. So many people would be tempted to illustrate and gesture throughout the song, but you really can't. It's so simple. *loves at Heidi*

  • spectacular

  • What an amazing show! :) To bad it had such a short run on broadway.

  • i love this song so much and heidi!

    INTERNATIONAL tour anyone? :(

  • Heidi is awesome! woot woot

  • so beautiful 'm tearing up now thank you[tos]

  • She's my favorite cast member. Her voice is seriously one of the most gorgeous things ever. She's gorgeous too. :]

  • omg her voice idjiofjsdf sososogood.

  • I saw the last show they did. It was incredible and I could'nt believe it was closing. I miss it. :[

  • I was there too. I hope they tour, it was incredible

  • I saw Heidi perform this in August and I was so lucky to hear how amazing her voice was and how she could fill the whole theater with such a full sound and then have it resonate off every little inch- it was Frikkin Phenomenal!!

  • This song never fails in making me cry. Seriously. I so regret not having been able to have seen this show.

    National Tour, anyone?

  • I was at the final show and it was one of the best theater experiences I have ever had. I can't believe such a great show is closing so soon :(

  • omg this completely breaks my heart. this song makes me cry every single time. i can't believe its over :(

  • this makes me cry about every single time i hear it. dont leave us [title of show] =(

  • I love her voice and I have a tear for sure..gorgeous.

  • i agree annie. i wonder how she felt on closing when she sang this.. =[

  • These lyrics are really magical. I'm actually sort of regretting seeing 'Chicago' instead of this show when I was in New York...

  • you should! chicago is a piece of crap compared to [Title of Show]!

  • I'm kinda embarrassed as to how much this song makes me cry.

  • HAHA I just saw your post on MDN

  • I just saw you say that on MdN!

  • wow she has a good voice

"9 people's favorite thing" and "a way back to then" are my 2 favorite songs :D

  • favorite song ever by one of the most talented people of our time. BRAVA heidi! what an inspiration...

    [tos] forever!

    ~Allie

  • absolutely love this song

  • It's really sad when something pure and original like this gets shafted to make room for the steroid-powered musical versions of movies...

    I guess that's business. Sigh.

  • whats replacing it?

  • I wouldn't know specifically.

I'm just commenting on the general trends of supply and demand on broadway.

TOS is already going off. :(

  • god i love this woman

  • Sooooooooo good to see and hear this.

  • That was the best moment of the show with Die Vampire Die in my opinion.

And it's even sadder that it's cancelled that the actors were down to Earth ... Heidi even replied to a message I sent her ...

  • im actually at "then" except im 5 years older and i drink real grape juice not koolaid. but i will follow in your footsteps and get to broadway! i wish i could help u guys stay open. ive told way more than nine people...

  • As if i needed more inducement to cry, knowing that this gem is ending so soon.... but Heidi's performance, and her tiny little flinch on the final "dancing..." ... oh boy! *sniffs*

  • i was at the first performance after they found out and this song was the saddest thing ever. she pulled still it off like a star though of course.

    <3 you [tos]!

  • please dont close

  • i heart tos

  • this show is closing a week before i come to NY, and i want to see it so badly, this sucks!

  • its awful that the show is closing already... its such an incredible show and all of the actors are soo talented... sad :(

  • This is so beautiful. Heartwarming.

    I can't believe it's closing - I loved this show!!

  • I CANT BELIEVE this is closing. After the lights came up I litterly sat there stunned as it was the best show i have EVER seen. WHY IS IT CLOSING? Did they not make enough money? Is America's audiences to stupid to get it?

  • I LOVE this song! Heidi's voice is STUNNING! I can't BELIEVE this shows closing. I <3 [title of shpw]

  • I'm sad this is closing too :[

  • i love her!

  • 1:46 to the end is absolutly brilliant.

  • i love that the authors of title of show can write such great funny, lively music AND stuff like this.

and i ADORE heidi blickenstaff. phenomenal. :) and sooo funny! i want her to be my best friend.

  • heidieis so awesome and reli cute!

  • Wonderful!

  • Her voice is wonderful, I love [title of show]

  • When she sang this, there was such a hush over the audience...it was amazing.

I have never been so enthralled in one song in a show...it was breath-taking.

  • She will get more roles after this show. Her voice is gorgeous!

  • HER VOICE IS SO AMAZING

  • Love this song....love this show...

  • Anyone who has ever had a dream to pursue acting or music or art of any kind knows every corner of this song--every bit of what she sings about.

What a wonderful song. What an amazing show. I think the best part of seeing this show on on Broadway was watching the faces of the two creators on stage react to living their dream--seeing their art come to life and hearing the wild applause and appreciation from the audience.

Go see this show if you've ever wanted to act, write, sing, dance...

  • well said; so very true ;)

  • the way she says "time" reminds me of idina menzel. sorry, no more wicked references.

  • Godspell won't win anything because the show is on hold right now because the funding fell through..a shame because Gavin Creel is fantastic.

    But god..TOS deserves the Tony..definitely.

  • *Deserves* the Tony? I agree the show is wonderful and I would, personally, love to see the creators realize their dreams. I've seen it more than once and will likely see it again if it stays open through that time. Still, there's a lot coming our way between now and Tony time. The season has barely begun. How do we know what deserves what while we've hardly scratched the surface?

  • Of course there's so much more to see, but you have to admit that nothing like this has ever been on Broadway before.

  • Like I said, I agree that it's wonderful. On an emotional level, I'd love for the creators to realize their dreams of a Tony. They're the "Little [Show] that Could". While I'm guessing they'll be a contender, I just think it's a tad early to say anyone "deserves" anything. There's a lot more headed our way for the season.

  • Very very true.

  • I've been obsessed with this song (and the show, of course) ever since I got my hands on the off-broadway recording a year and a half ago, but I saw the show a few weeks ago, and seeing and hearing her sing this live was absolutely breathtaking.

  • i agree onethousandsteps! i saw the previews and loved it!! beautiful song. xx

  • Did they edit out any songs from the off-broadway CD to the now Broadway show?

  • no, but they did change some songs and add some stuff that happened after their off-broadway run. :)

  • I have a very difficult time not seeing this winning the Tony for Best Musical. An amazing show.

  • yeah i think it will at least be in the running for best musical, but this year there will be alot of competition with tale of two cities, billy elliot, 9 to 5, godspell, and vanities. i hope they don't forget about title of show.

  • don't forget shrek! (haha)

  • and THIRTEEN!!!!! THe new JRB musical. I think Sondheim's Bounce is coming to broadway, too, this season. Fucking great time to be in New York.

  • Godspell can't win Best musical--only Best Revival of a Musical.

  • I just saw the show last Saturday night and it was magical.

Heidi sang this so amazingly and I was totally blown away.

    Go see this show...no, really...GO!!!!!

  • I love everyone in this show, but Heidi is definitley my favorite.

  • I LOVE HEIDI! She's great!

  • she has such a crazy good voice

  • This song it's amazing! The show it self is one of the best shows I've seen in my life, it's so simple, but it's reality, for the ones that work on teh Musical Theatre Bizz.

    Congratulations to them!

  • Aaand there goes the eye makeup. Beautiful job, Heidi.

It's not always easy for me to get through musicals without bawling like a ninny because I find people's talents so damn moving. Heidi's performance therefore kicked my ass.

I'm attending your show this weekend. I'll be the mess in Row J.
