i think a lot of people in their lives get to a point where they find what they want in the struggle to reach their dreams, without exactly getting there the way they planned. Thanks expressing this in such a beautiful way title of show :]
@Heterormorphic if it's not too late... go to 4shared.com and type in "title of show" the entire libretto of the show is available there to download (for free). that'll give you plenty of context (obviously)
@Heterormorphic a little late i know, but in the broadway production, she sings in to the audience in an undefined space for the first half, and in the second half after Jeff, Hunter, and Susan reunite, then turn her attention to her and it is assumed they are in the same location, most likely the appartment. This show isn't really big on defining spaces, but it's still one of my favorites :D
I love this song... I sing this song and it's a moving capture of our lives as performing artists. I would like to thank Heidi for giving me the real feeling of how this song should go. I really punch it out, but again it always depends on your audience.
i have the chills this is the most beautiful song in the whole entire world... why did the show have to close before i saw it.... this song can make me cry it's just so gorgeous <3
I had the fortunate opportunity to see this on Broadway. While Heidi sang, she began to tear (and she wasn't the only one) as she tells her dream with such sincerity and artristry. Truly one of the greatest moments on stage, and certainly among the best musicals ever. Bravo to the whole cast!
After tracking TOS for the past couple years and stuff...I dont even personally know Heidi...but when she sings this I feel so...proud of her you know? I cant help but be beaming when she sings!
Heidi is such a phenomenal actress. I'm so glad she didn't over act this song. So many people would be tempted to illustrate and gesture throughout the song, but you really can't. It's so simple. *loves at Heidi*
I saw Heidi perform this in August and I was so lucky to hear how amazing her voice was and how she could fill the whole theater with such a full sound and then have it resonate off every little inch- it was Frikkin Phenomenal!!
im actually at "then" except im 5 years older and i drink real grape juice not koolaid. but i will follow in your footsteps and get to broadway! i wish i could help u guys stay open. ive told way more than nine people...
As if i needed more inducement to cry, knowing that this gem is ending so soon.... but Heidi's performance, and her tiny little flinch on the final "dancing..." ... oh boy! *sniffs*
I CANT BELIEVE this is closing. After the lights came up I litterly sat there stunned as it was the best show i have EVER seen. WHY IS IT CLOSING? Did they not make enough money? Is America's audiences to stupid to get it?
Anyone who has ever had a dream to pursue acting or music or art of any kind knows every corner of this song--every bit of what she sings about.
What a wonderful song. What an amazing show. I think the best part of seeing this show on on Broadway was watching the faces of the two creators on stage react to living their dream--seeing their art come to life and hearing the wild applause and appreciation from the audience.
Go see this show if you've ever wanted to act, write, sing, dance...
*Deserves* the Tony? I agree the show is wonderful and I would, personally, love to see the creators realize their dreams. I've seen it more than once and will likely see it again if it stays open through that time. Still, there's a lot coming our way between now and Tony time. The season has barely begun. How do we know what deserves what while we've hardly scratched the surface?
Like I said, I agree that it's wonderful. On an emotional level, I'd love for the creators to realize their dreams of a Tony. They're the "Little [Show] that Could". While I'm guessing they'll be a contender, I just think it's a tad early to say anyone "deserves" anything. There's a lot more headed our way for the season.
I've been obsessed with this song (and the show, of course) ever since I got my hands on the off-broadway recording a year and a half ago, but I saw the show a few weeks ago, and seeing and hearing her sing this live was absolutely breathtaking.
yeah i think it will at least be in the running for best musical, but this year there will be alot of competition with tale of two cities, billy elliot, 9 to 5, godspell, and vanities. i hope they don't forget about title of show.
This song it's amazing! The show it self is one of the best shows I've seen in my life, it's so simple, but it's reality, for the ones that work on teh Musical Theatre Bizz.
