Major Shepard or whatever the fuck your name is (assntitties).....Marines dont fly to go at Mach 1 and dog fight.....ACM is taught in depth in FRS and advanced training squadrons, but that is not the meat and potatoes of what Marine Aviation is about.... they provide primarily close air support to the infantry and take great pride in doing that job.

been flying f-18's for years. got invited to top gun a year ago. I was racing home to tell my wife and got side swiped by an 18 wheeler. spent 3 months in the hospital.

I can barely stand now. I miss that life so fucking much.

In the movie, "XXX" there was an apropriate quote. "If you cage a bulldog long enough, the fight in his eyes will vanish. do you want to be that dog?"

I am supposed to be living my liife mach 1+. not in a goddamn wheelchair.

Damn dude that sucks. I would kill for the opportunity to fly just once in a Hornet, Viper, etc. Hell, I'd kill for a ride in a T-38. I missed my calling. I'm sure it sucks terribly to bust your ass to get there and have it taken away, but don't forget how lucky you were for the time you had. I'd trade the rest of my life in a wheelchair for a few years of what you had, without a second thought. Seriously.

I try to think that way, but it never helps. I still find myself wakeing up from dreams of dogfighting migs, my own squadron.

Thats what I miss the most. being able to take off in friendly waters. We had no orders but to get our hours in. we would see who could hold the tightest turns. practice evasion, mock fights. We were truely "free" for those few hours.

I appreciate everyones concerns.

Wish they could test the Eurofigether vs some american modern fighters. It would have been interesting to see how they would do against each other..

Is it a lot up to the pilot, or does the computer do most of the work these days...??

In the Eurofighter, the pilot only need to look at the enemy plane, and a missil will lock itself on the target.

No that has nothing to do with the eurofighter that happens with a lot of modern day jets and their HUD systems. The US navy F/A-18 super hornet pilots have the same system embedded in the hud on their visors.
