  • doesn't sound like a zeybek. zeybeks have a particular sort of playing style in the original version.

  • @bilgin1917 this is a zeibekiko (Greek creation), not a zeybek.

  • greece and tueky peace :)

  • Greek music rules... Simply the best

  • Μπραβο παιδια!!!!

  • love it! bravo pedia!

  • elpizo akoma ... iparxoun ellines(exo dakrisei)

  • Eyxaristw sas...Sas Eyxaristoume !!!

  • it is a great performens and very deep feelings the music makes me remember i am abrode from home and it is filling the emptyness of my feelings great great song

  • Very powerful/beautiful...a perfect Zeibekiko. Bravo pedia.

  • You guys have a gem on ur hands, this composition is extremely deep, with feeling and meaning, but, i think the song requires more filling in terms of the instruments focus, the bouzouki can be harnessed more, as well as a monotone drum beat keeping the rythym. Also, when you get into the climax of the song, you can achieve a really nice contrast between the buildup and the exisitng baglama/keyboard melody. I would love to see an updated version with these considerations.

    p.s - FONARA!!!!!!!

  • Thanx ...Monathikos ...Yes you are right,,,the song was kept raw with minimum instrumentation...almost naked....lol....showing the beauty of melody & lyrics as they are....Next time......thank you again. ps-.Yes..... Christos Papadopoulos is a great laiko singer & his rendition is top notch.

  • HUH? is that a mikrooud? or how do you call that tiny cordophon???

  • It's called Baglamas & it is a tiny Bouzouki.

  • Great composition guys! Lots of passion!

  • Bravo pedia isaste proti!!

  • Nice Zeibekiko with great feeling!

  • Hello guys.

This is my poem. Do you like to know how I feel after 122 comments?

Let me first say....before I forget...

Bravo Spiro. Bravo Christo and group.

If we see something nice, we like to have it in order to feel good about...us.

This is when the nice turns into ugly.

If the music reminds you of Turkish,Greek,Arabian,Bulgarian,Albaniam or Russian music, this is nice.

    Let's leave it at that.

Don't you think we had enough stupid wars already?

    Dino Makropoulos.

  • i Think Bravo To kmkmkm1959

it is nice to find a good person

  • Peace in Balkans, in all countries of former Byzantine Empire.

  • Too right. And the comments just got wierd after a while too...

  • this a ? to every 1 my last name is hercules

n do u think i might be part greek?

n how do i check it up?

  • The music is fantastic, like your country! Greetings from Bulgaria!

  • this is music, enjoy it or dont, dont involve history of hatred between two countries into it

    zito e ellas

  • Precisely! Music is music and music speaks all langauges.

  • What is with you Greeks and Turks eh? Geez, whatever happened in the past happened is gone and forgotten! I am Greek and I'm very good friends with a Turkish girl called Nadide. How dare you guys insult culture the way you have been in these last comments!? And then you sit and wonder why the hell the world is at war with one another- it's because of people like you! Now stop the insults and just embrace one another's culture with RESPECT!

    Peace!

  • finally you ve said it, thousands of turks probably watched this vid and they feel the same emotions as any greek would, trust me. its sad to see how some greeks reply to these 15 yr old turks.

  • It's bloody shameful is what it is. You know I want to hold my head in shame when I read some of these comments. I'm actually embarresed to call myself Greek afterwards. You look at all cultures- be it Arabian, Turkish, Greek, etc. you'll find they are so similar in music and culture and yet you still get these immature people who are like "MINE IS BETTER THEN YOURS." If music be the langauge of love- play on I say! Let's embrace that last sentance. Thanks for agreeing with my sense and logic.

  • how can u say that its forgotten? how old are u?

    its FAAARRR from forgotten..

Im from greek from cyprus and i can tell u that its NOT forgotten for many peopel!

  • Don't get personal with me. I'm also from Cyprus. If you want to hold onto the past then so be it. I won't sit and argue with you, if you want to focus on the negativety of the past, carry on, but don't involve me. My focus is on the future.

  • Its the past - let it go .. trust me its not worth hating eachother .. forgive and forget!!! ..

  • The turke that wrote this comment that turkes have older culture then Greeks is fuckin stupid ,Hey stupid go back school(not turkish school any civilized school they might teach you somthing about History. Fuckin Animals Fuck Turki, and evrything they represent

  • Hey,im not Greek Im Armenian but I love Greek people and there culture. And the World knows when there were Greeks there was no such think as Turkey whata fuck is Turkey bunch of fuckin animals. Just like Azerbajani this fuckers think that there culture is older then Armenian but thats fuckin joke, fuckers dont even have there own language or alphabit. So go FUCK YOUR TURKE & AZERBAJANI MOTHERS

  • thats what they brain wash you in Turkish schools..that Turks have older culture than Greeks ..what a joke...well the only fools to believe that , are of course Turks.....Greeks go back 5000 years before there was even a Turk around the med-sea.......Anatolia was Greek then the Romans came..capish????

  • you wish you was Greek...Turkey boy..people with no real culture..just land bandits,,Pirates...

  • PROUD ON GREECE!! Loyal until my end.

  • stupid greeks, do you know what the word "zeybek" mean???

i am a zeybek, that means a turkmen/yörük turk...we are shamanian/alevi turks and our dance is called "zeybek"...

i think, that is proof, who is a joke...

  • Turks are a joke...ask around...Greeks are in the history books and medical books..science ect Greeks opened the eyes of the world....Turks are just plain jealous.....they are just NEW KIDS on the block so to speak.....PROUD and GREEK...

  • greeks founded it and turkish made it a practice!!! hahaha

LOL, please we sould stop this, is making Youtube rediculus. ok?

This is music usually used to connect people, do not get offended if at least 3 national turkish dances are greek, we also dance turkish dances, is not shame, is a good thing to do. Eat each other's food and tastes and listen to each other's emotion,

get culturated and come back to talk barbarian.

  • does anyone know the name of this beautiful song and who sings it?

  • Lernea Hydra.

  • Chris Papadopoulos.

    A Young Greek American.

    The poem by Dino Makropoulos.

H Monaxia Stin Xenitia eine dipli.(double)

  • you are a white trash moron

  • Aren't you a fucktard? Yes. Yes, you are ...

  • GAMO TIN ELLADA!! XD

  • Beautiful video, congratulations....for bringing a piece of ''ΤΗΝ ΩΡΑΙΑ ΠΑΤΡΙΔΑ ΜΑΣ'' in your song and music....ΝΑΣΤΕ ΠΑΝΤΑ ΚΑΛΑ Yiannis(ζω στην Κινα)

  • sugxaritiria paidia!!!!

    Teleia h tragoudara!!!!

  • The Zeybeks were a group of mountain people in asia minor made up of both Greeks and Turks. The dance zeimpekiko meaning "of the zeybek" was first done by these people aiming to copy the movement of hawks.

So both nationalities have a right to the dance and none have the right to

    A: monopolize it

B: abuse other people and act like hard cunts in front of the computer screen. Go get breastfed you gay keyboard warriors!!!!

ZHTW H ELLADARA ME THS WRAIES ZEIMPEKIES THS OPA!!!!!!

  • man that some nice stuff, thanks

  • Here is a youtube link featuring the Turkish version of the instrument used in this clip and here are some links featuring the Turkish version of Zeybek.

Last summer, I was in Greece. You should know that both our countries are very beautiful and the both our people's are very hospitable and affectionate. We must try to make peace prevail. Our ancestors paid the price of hostility with their lives. No one will gain anything from cursing and bashing.

  • its you

  • it's you!!

  • the music is telling how he feals when dreaming the turning to mother land and inscribing that moment in verygood way IT IS PERFECT

  • WHO IS STEFAN RAAB???

  • THIS IS GREECE MY FRIENDS

  • what i wrote HERE is to show to the ignorants that Greeks do not need to steal anybody's music!OR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS since they are familiar with the music, and the musical instuments and the singing, since the dawn of time!,,and Euaggelos Papathanasiou is indeed one of the best musicians in the world!

  • eso es rap

  • The world music, derived from the world muses, the 9 muses in the Greek mythology! who they discover music! the oldest mention in the world about music!THEY MENTION ABOUT aylos, kithara, double flute,lyre,harp...in the island of KEROS,two marble statues were found playing music, since 5.000 b,c.....

  • In a cave in Greece,a musical instruments was found they believe it's more than 200.000 years old! the first to depict playing music, were APOLLO,AND ORPHEUS,THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO!"CLASSICAL" MUSIC WAS INTRODUCE TO THE WORLD,AS SOON AS 3,000 B,C, IN MYCAENE,AND CRETE!...

  • PYTHAGORAS WAS THE ONE THAT WROTE THE MUSICAL SCALES ,the musical MODES,the DROMOI,AND THEY passed in Byzantium,in Crete, and they are STILL BEING USED the same way today! they became the basis for western religious, and classical music,ALSO IT HAS PAST IN THE TURKISH AND MIDDLE EAST MUSIC!

  • ...THEY [THE MUSES] INTRODUCE,the music to the world!....AS YOU CAN SEE the musical base IS a Greek matter!

  • A TABLET was found thousands of years old depicting the muses,to play the PANDOURION=BOUZOUKI,...AS YOU CAN SEE BOUZOUKI-AS YOU CALLED IT IN THE TIME OF THE OTTOMAN OCCUPATION ,forcing your language into the Greek people,IT'S an absolute GREEK instrument!

  • ....so Greek are all the foods,THAT YOU CHANGE THE NAMES WHEN YOU OCCUPIED KONSTANTINOPOLIS

  • And you forgot one of the best contemporary musicians is greek.

    Yeah, Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiu.

Greeks are a freaky bunch of musical freakish freaks... and greeks rhymes with freak! :D

Seriously, both greek and chinese music are awesome, just awesome.

  • I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed that only people from shit countries fight over their cultural heritage. This music is nice, but don't start a war over it for fuck's sake.

  • That is one of the most racist comments I've ever heard. Is Taiwan a shit country, blackjamm?

  • I'm not Taiwanese, and I was trying to get a reaction. What I can tell you is that no one from western Europe is going to fight over whether the tale of Arthur is British or Breton. Frankly, I'd say it is a mark of how culturally poor the inhabitants of a country are that they would squabble over this music. I know plenty of Turks, esp. here in Taiwan, and I once went out with a Greek girl.

  • And I applaud you for speaking out against ethnic conflict and violence but is it right to do so by incorporating your own racist prejudices into it? In my mind, this ethnocentrism simply perpetuates the hatred you are against.

  • Turkish or Greek Music.. Both of them have same beauty. We are not chemist and don't need to parse the music. I am from Turkey and live in Izmir (Smyrna) and happy due to have peaceful greek friends.

Just listen and hug your neighbour..

Peace at home Peace in the world.

  • turkısh song also good greek song also good ı like greek music and turkısh we are also friend ı am turks ı lıke grek musik and zeibekiko. zeybek and ıam zeybek to

  • turkısh ZEYBEK or greek ZEYBEK purfect :)

    GREEK MUSIC LOVER....

    I AM FROM TURKEY IN İ Z M İ R (SMYRNA)

  • Panemorfo

  • You're all wrong. The music is regional. It's not Turkish or Greek. Contributions were bi-directional. When the Greeks occupied Asia Minor they brought their sounds and then vice versa. Believe it or not there is also Indian influence in music from your countries. So stop bickering and enjoy music. Music has no borders.

  • Music, was created by the Greeks! MUSIC was created by the 9 GREEK MUSES! LEAVE AS ALONE NOW!we gave it as a present to the world! say thank you!ignorants!

  • "Music, was created by the Greeks!"

nixter888, no one culture can take credit for creating music anymore than a culture can take credit for inventing sexual intercourse or laughter. Perhaps you mean that Greeks started Western musical theory. Modern Greek music, however, has a Middle Eastern sound to it. This is because it was part of the Ottoman Empire for a long time (400 years?.

  • Greek music has an eastern sound because of the instruments they use (string instruments with a very short sustain, just like chinese) and the use of pentatonic scales.

But sincerely I find it stupid to fight about music. Music is beautiful, and that's all. Who cares about anything else?

Music wasn't invented to make people fight each other.

I wonder if nixter would start a fight in let's say Enya's concert saying "MUSIC WAS INVENTED BY GREEKS GODAMNIT SAY THANK YOU IGNORANTS"

  • Romans and Byzantines had great connection (espacially the 2nds) with the East. The name Anatolia is greek, the name Asia is greek, the names,Pontus,Kapadokia, Istanbul(it was a frase not a name),Adana,Ankara(ankyra),and much more are greek made.

The word Music is greek, this does not mean music is a greek product, but means that music has most things offered by greeks, because they never rellied on 1 type of music. They mixed and created many types of music.Same happens with "theater"(teatro)

  • @YiannisThiakos Well said!

  • pes ta re koutsfam me ta yousoufakia!!

  • Listen Mongol ...listen to the way the Greek songs sound..very melodic and beautiful unlike Turkish songs that sound worse than my Greek farts.......

  • mongol you only wish you was GREEK......maybe you be lucky in Lotto but you'll always be a TURK ( mongol)

  • Spiramus thank you for such a wonderul song!!

  • Roma began to exist as a Greek colony, ancient southern cities from Italy were first builded by the Greeks, trade cities in Romania were also Greek and West Turkey was Greek Land. Istanbul was "ein sten polis" Constantinopole and it was a Greek City. Thales the Milessian was born in ancient Greece (west turkey today) and he was speaking greek. Who denies these wants to harm the truth or he doesn't have knowledge at all.

  • I am not greek, I am latin and I accept the truth that greek people have been thought us culture and gave us identity and I am happy of that because greek people are good. What is wrong in seeing the truth, accepting the truth and living with it?

  • hey Turkish Pride...you should have pride in what????Your Ataturk was a gay person ...and he was half Jewish...not even a true Mongol like you ....You wish you was Greek...

  • Tukish Pride?? What is that? The name of a clown? Turkish = no culture

  • these songs are turkish stuff man they stole us from us.

  • turks are so proud of bulent ersoy huh turkishpride?

  • Turks have no real culture of their own....Look at history Greeks gave so much to the world one example is science and democracy

  • yeah whole world learned homosexuality by the greek.your best faggot I think george michael am I right?

  • Greeks are amazing people! They created history, theatre, philosophy, politics, rhetorics, democracy etc. They gave identity and beauty to the whole world + this beautiful song.

  • Greeks = Great :)))))

  • spiramus.. well done.. cangurulations.. that's dance called like that "zeybek" in turkish.:)

  • buzikine saglık usta güzel olmus parcan

  • buzikine saglık usta güzel olmus parcan

Could you plz translate it into english?

  • "buzikine saglık usta güzel olmus parcan"="thanks to your instrument,it is a good song"

  • but being alike in this case with greeks and turks isn't a thing that fell from the sky.

you are talking of them being alike, well just read history and see why they are alike

  • 2 leksis:

    ARXONTIKI ERMINIA!

    Bravo palikare

  • instead of realising how much alike both turks and greeks are, and how you could all be such great friends. Hopefully the future generation of turks and greeks will be less naive than this current generation, and will put all this hate for eachother aside. Although sadly i cant see this happening, since if any of you guys have kids, im sure youll be teaching them to hate the turks/greeks

  • youre wrong, the bottom line is that greeks and turks will never get along thanks to people like you turks and greeks here. I mean you get the turks and greeks who can forget the past and see people for who they are, and just get along with eachother since they know how much stuff they have in common! But then you get the turks and greeks like you guys here who just have pointless arguments about the past,

  • bottom line you turks are the intruder ones to these lands and history will be the witness over your tyranny on others

  • you got to be kidding me. you turks are not from anatolia you're actually caucasian/mongoloid people that came from central asia and china you're way far from anatolia

  • hahaha!!!

anatolia and tracia is not greek!!!greeks are came to anatolia from islands!

  • ...thanx for the post....can you plz translate it into English?

  • they didn't took from you but you imposed yourselves with your culture on the Greek people. you occupied their land and made yourselves rulers over one of the greatest civilizations in the world

  • TURKISH ISLAMIC CULTURE IS RICHER THAN greek...

under acient greek cities we found oldest cultures.ANATOLIA IS TURK not greek!!!

ancient greeks came from islands to anatolia but anatolia is TURK!!!

  • i know, you turks are soooooo civilized and soooo modern. it's amazing. the world has so much to learn for you turks it's unbelievable. you are the source of all knowledge in the world. everything good comes from the great turk. if fact the civilization started with great mongols.

  • Actually, until the early twentienth century, Anatolia was multi-ethnic: Turks, Greeks, Armenians, Kurds, Georgians.

  • the instrument is called cifteli and has 2 stringed lute and is used by albanian. but its originale from mongoliet and came to europe with turks.

  • Greek...the most impossible language in the Western hemisphere. "Thank you" takes like an hour to say. Its a pretty country tho, with fun dances. Nice song to.
