  • circumstances that he is being faced with are inevitable, and now all here at home will know him as a Nazi, but I know him only as my friend." Many specific Nazi's did horrible things, especially the high command. But let us not forget those who were enrolled essentially against their own will. At the end of the war, the devoted soldiers were killing all civilians that they felt approved communism. Every street in Berlin told a similar story. Let us not forget the heroes of Operation Valkyrie.

  • Many in my school will say oh, "The Nazi people?" when we talk about Germany. When they say that, it's as though the Valkyrie Operation was for nothing. Still today, not many know the true sacrifices on both sides. My Great Grandfather's service records state; "My best friend Dermitt whom I attended college with at Yale, went back home to Dresden. He has sent me a letter, saying that he wants to be a plane mechanic. Now his family faces death if he doesn't become a pilot in the Luftwaffe. The

  • R.I.P Major. Winters

  • they are heroes, they always remain young, they live forever

  • I am Asian and am not even connected to the war in any way but i still have great respect for the german and american army. especially the 101 airborne and the germans on the beach heads.

  • As terrible as war is us allies such as America,England and Russia tore some ass and will continue to tare as much ass as we want in the future long live the allies

  • As Americans we did not protest the "Patriot Act" ; we do not protest the loss of habeas corpus for all. We do not fight for civilian control over the military. We have not questioned the outsourcing of government functions-even to feeding our troops. So, let us not judge another country. We have been poor stewards of our own.

  • this song make me cry

  • ...

  • War truly is a horrific fact of life. Someone's little boy, someone's father, brother, uncle....each individual casualty is someone's entire world dying. That being said evil NEVER sleeps and must be confronted relentlessly and continually with brave fighting men dying to protect freedom and liberty. To those people out there complaining about "war" you better hope you wake to the boots of a soldier protecting you and not those of tyranny and oppression. No civil person wants war but It happens

  • @HistoryChannelWW2 well that topic isnt really supposte to be funny but whatever, i just gonna take it as a joke now.

  • @HistoryChannelWW2 says somebody with an adolf hitler avatar, nuff said.

  • oh and one more thing... Lay off Manelag Its just getting stupid now,

  • I was reading the comments and thought I would share my thoughts.

On my mothers side of my family I have people who fought for the nazi side, on my fathers side of the family, My great grand father was on pearl harbor the day it was bombed. After years and years of this constant argument in my mind I came to the conclusion that There are no "Good guys" and there are no "Bad guys" their are only those fighting for what they see as right. The "wrong" are those who do bad agents their beliefs.

  • lets all agree that are countries fought hard and kick each others ass a lot i'm german and my great grandad a german restinace worker

  • Sure alot people are saying the German people did not want the war. But what about all those parades where everyone is "zieg heiling" and looking smitten and happy? What about all that fucking anti-semitism? Cannot forget that most Germans thought they were superior to everyone, and were completely baffled when our rag tag immigrant army came stomping thru Deutschland.

  • @Manelag I think he means the Nazi's who supported Hitler were brainwashed perhaps. And that people like your grandfather clearly wasn't a Nazi and didn't believe Hitler's bullshit promises.

  • Comment removed

  • @Manelag stfu, most of the world doesn't hate germany ya idiot infact we understand many were forced and brainwashed, so stfu and stop feeling fucking sorry for yourself and im sure your grandfather was a good man

  • Tisztelet a hosoknek

  • I never blame the German soldiers, only the German Officers who enjoyed doing what Hitler commanded...and if I had met Hitler, I'd of put a bullet in his fucking brain without any hesitation.

  • God bless our brothers and sisters

  • Exactly people forget the term "Nazi" is a political Party. Doesn't mean all Germans in WW2 hated jews, wanted to go to war etc etc.

  • @unknownj76 GOD DAMN THANK YOU. So many people call me a "Nazi" because i am German, and believe in National Socialism.

  • I`m German and men.. fuck.... I had so much respect for the people of America Russia etc. for fucking the Nazi ass up ... and build the World where I can live now.

  • That is a very nice piece.

  • england was pushed back but hitler could not break its airforce and after that america joined and russia pushed the germans back and after that it was over and japan fell soon after

  • there is a club not in the earth but in the sky for the chosen to be the defenders of freedom and the respect of human beings

  • Look there's all this arguing about who helped who and who died for who. Let's just all admit that our respective countries fought and people died BUT we/they did a bloody good job at kicking their ass!

  • It's sad how only the Americans and so on are War Heroes, we the germans fought what we tough was right, my grand-grandfather died for my family to protect there lifes and still about half of the earth still blames us for this. Thanks that shows really how much courage you really have.

  • @Manelag Actually i respect and understand the fact that a lot of Germans did not WANT that war or even want to fight or kill in it. I'm British and i do not blame Germans for that war because it is the past and i also understand that a lot of them didn't even want that terrible war.

  • @ShroudedFury Same, yet I'm American. Its only the ignorant that believe that Germans all didn't have morals and good in their ranks. Not that it should matter that ignorant people are too dense to know. The truth is something that is too good for idiots.

At the end of the day, a soldier is a soldier, a man is man, and a brother is a brother.

  • Firstly, Hitler restored hope, and honor to the German people. Secondly, he ordered the Jews out before he started his rein. Most German citizens didn't even know about the concentration camps, unless in the city or nearby areas...

  • @Manelag like wise people say, in games there's good and evil, in reality it's just selflessness and sacrifice

  • @Manelag Any army that has the balls to face the U.S, the british, france, Russia, and the canadian and polish armies and still put up a great amount of force. Has my respect. The German soldiers were brainwashed/told what to do or killed off. Which isn't fair. Every soldier is a hero, no matter what army, imo.

  • @TheXXxOblivion Brainwashed ? Ehh .. No sir, they faught for there country, thats it. End of Story.

  • @Manelag Did Hitler promise a better life for Germany? Yes. But look what he got them in to. Why do you think his own people tried to assassinate him? If Hitler didn't step in to power, the Germans wouldn't of fought in the first place. He basically promised them a eutopia if they fought this war and he got the Germans to think that the Jews were the lowest race. Brainwashing and propaganda is what that is.

  • @TheXXxOblivion I love how you dont know a single fuck about the Human Biology, well if you think we all were brainwashed oke buddy, have fun in your little world with unicorns and such shit,

Thats basicly just another Myth people came up with to insult us german, well i dont give a fuck you know why ? Weil ich es besser weiß, jetzt verpiss dich :>

  • @Manelag face the facts, also if you were to ask random citizens in Germany today about WW2, a lot of people think of it as an embarrassment. That comes from experience. Oh and you aren't the only German in this conversation... Fyi. So you don't know better.

  • @TheXXxOblivion Oh come the fuck on, those arent facts. If thoose are facts then are unicorns and dragons real.

  • @Manelag Hitler was almost assassinated. That's a fact. Without Hitler, the German soldiers wouldn't of stepped up to fight. Fact. Hitler used propaganda and powerful wording to persuade his listeners in to believing in his beliefs. Fact.... Propaganda is another form of brainwashing. Even America today is under brainwashing through the media, and the government. It's everywhere. If todays technology was in the 40's. Nazism would've spread throughout the world quick, without a doubt.

  • @TheXXxOblivion Oks rly, you do even bother with a Troll ? Proganada is more a hardocre version of commercial but ok, cya you never again troll.

  • @Manelag Yeah, I'm a troll cause I speak the truth. Gandhi is a troll too right? Or maybe even Malcolm X. Yeah they're both trolls. They troll hard.

  • @TheXXxOblivion ok just stop responding to my post oke ? You'Re right and i'm not, are you fucking happy now bcs you achived smth on the internet ? gezus ..

  • @Manelag i am happy now, thank you sir. Goodbye.

  • @Manelag I'm an american and for one i know the german people didnt want the war, all the german people wanted was a strong leader in times of distress and the nazi party took over and forced germany to be in that awful war and do a lot of terrible things. It isnt at all the germans fault they were manipulated into doing what they did

  • @Manelag Politicians wage war not people. There was many who wanted war in Germany, but not for NAZI reasons, but for your country and family.Im Greek, and me and my family have ALWAYS respected Germans as a nation. Its just that Americans dont know much about europe so they think they are best, but 10 Germans against 10 Americans,German would kick their ass. They just had much more manpower, bigger industry, and werent bombed like Germany.I hate politicians, and Nazis, but I love ordinary Germans!

  • @lodhol look, you see it right , an ordinary german is both , honorable and intelligent. Before 1945 someone could be only 2 of these 3 : Intelligent,NAzi,honorable.

  • @Manelag same here friend my grandad was conscroipted into an all communist unit in 37 he deserted in 38 to join the international brigades came back and fought the full war in nearly every major battle equiped with ww1 rifles and sub machine guns he fought alogside his communist brothers and got 3 iron crosess 1 in stalingrad 1 in normandy and another in holland he became a batalion commander and fought on the russians side in berlin he unfortunatley was killed by east german commies in 1975 :(

  • @Manelag Americans aren't the only war heroes, but If WWII in your eyes was what Vietnam was for Americans in the 60s, go after your own damn gov't. Don't resent Americans for injustices in your country. When we participate in War, we get blamed for trying to police the world. When injustice goes on and we're not around to help, we get criticized for not joining the fight. If you want to understand America stands for, study the American and Texas Revolutions. That pretty much sums it all up.

  • @Manelag i understand the fact that a lot of germans didn't want to be in the war...but...wasn't it the germans who started the war? The Japanese and Italians joined in later, and THEN the Japanese grew a wild hair on their ass and decided to bomb the US. We weren't even suppossed to be a part of the damn war...but The Nazi's allies brought us in, and then we, the brits, and all the other allies kicked fuckin' ass. Now we're all allies.

  • @Manelag Most people who say shit about others are assholes anyways, and not many people are intelligent and dont understand that Germans had no choice, it was either, support Nazi party or be killed, im sure most Germans werent doing it to kill jews or for hitler, but for their country. Nice to have Germans as Americas allies Germany is a bright light in this dark world.

  • @lolackay German soldiers, for the most part, didnt want to be a part of hitlers war, they were very quick to surrender, not like the japanese in the war, who were completly brainwashed by Japans emperor, Hirohito had them convinced they were the superior race, and that the americans and other allies, and even the germans, were all evil and below them.

  • @Manelag I'm hope you've at least heard this already, but in case you haven't, I'm an American and I don't blame Germany in the least. And no, we're not the only War Heroes, many men and women from varies countries gave up their lives in service. That is something to be greatly respected. And I thank you for what your Great-Grandfather did to protect innocent people in the war. c:

  • @Manelag We blame the nazis who tortured the jews. We know that there were good germans too. So you shouldn't judge others either. My grandfather fought in world war 2. He was brave there and I'm glad to have him with us. He's my hero.

  • @Manelag only the SS should really be ashamed. they were the ones that commited genocide. wermacht were just normal draftees/volunteers not nazi fanatics

  • @Manelag and the officers who plotted against hitler were war heroes in my opinion

  • @Manelag I agree that the German soldier was tough, brave & heroic, but he lacked the courage to do what he knew should be done, and that was to rally/mutiny against HITLER. No argument here, we (americans) got a taste of that same hypocrisy when we fought in Viet Nam........

  • Shame 63 million had to die for a bunch of old men in offices back then and today. How disgusted would they be to see our nations falling into decay? our borders open to anyone? crimerates soaring and poverty soaring.

  • Wow is about the 101 first not the british army, they made the sereis off the stroies these guys had

  • there´s 4 motherfucking nazis in here!!

  • god bless this mans who risk his lifes for the peace of the motherfucking world....they are fucking heroes ....im from chile , and i have to say this series really touch my soul

  • @ShroudedFury Seriously what is the name of this song? Lol I've looked everywhere and it keeps coming up with the main theme..

  • @berserker276 Heya.. It's called Requiem for a Soldier =-)

  • @ShroudedFury Thank you lol

  • No problem =-)

  • @ShroudedFury I meant music* sorry lol

  • So everything u said was wrong really

  • Coming from a person who can't even talk properly? I'm not feeling too bothered really lol.

  • @theRealMrBubka Actually if Britain had fallen there would be no operation overlord germany would bomb the US with its growing missile strength russia wouldnt be overrun they would retreat east and vichy france was allied to germany

  • @4NProductionz TROLOLOLOL fucken wrong son

  • R.I.P. dick winters..For his brave soul!

  • im in the 101. this is a historical peice that all parents need to show thier kids so they know that freedom is never free

  • Ich danke Euch und werde immer an Euch denken.............

  • I served in the 506 INF, Currahee

  • I saw Band of Brothers in the first months of its release...it made joining the army airborne a dream that I still live up to today, and always will.

  • 1:30 Ronald Speirs on the right Ftw!!!

  • @Tarreberra without the U.S. Germany wouldn't have lost

-Northern France got fucked by the "Blitzkrieg" (southern france became vichy-france, was neutral)

-like you said: russia would have got overruned

-and britain would have been invaded after a time

(no U.S. = no operation overlord etc.)

    - and canadas army was just too weak to fight the dritte Reich

(and germany was allied with japan, who could have helped winning war against russia and so on)

  • I was assigned to 3rd Battalion "Battle Force" (- ♣) / 327th Infantry (Air Assault)

  • why put pics on the band of brothers actors in this? Theyre no heroes

  • @TaipeDiep Nope but they portrayed Heroes which still counts.

  • "You never lived to see What you gave to me One shining dream of hope and love Life and liberty With a host of brave unknown soldiers For your company you will live forever Here in our memory In fields of sacrifice Heroes paid the price Young men who died for old men's wars Gone to paradise We are all one great band of brothers And one day you'll see we can live together When all the world is free I wish you'd lived to see All you gave to me...." (etc) Band of Brothers themesong lyrics
  • God bless all those who gave their lives for their countries even the germans, japs and all...i'm singaporean and my forefathers lived through the japanese occupation but in war, there is no good or bad they were just serving their nations...

  • Today is V-E Day (Victory in Europe). As one of the third generation born, since Nazional Socialism in Germany, I would like to thank my liberators.

Thanks to all Allied soldiers who risked their lives or died as they went to war in order to free the world from Nazi Germany. Today I am 23 years old, as old or even older than many of those who fell in battle and not had the chance to live in peace.

Without you, today's world would be a very bad place.

  • I have had the honor and privilege of meeting the actual members of the band of brothers and I get to see them again this year.

  • God bless the Allied powers

  • God blees America, Britian, Canda and the rest of the u.n except russia i don't like russia they have a realy bad leader and he want to destory us.

  • @thekingcody456 Thanksi'm British myself :)

  • @ShroudedFury What is the name of this actual music? Whenever I type in 'Band of Brothers ending theme' it comes up with the main theme

  • @thekingcody456 Thats pathetic

  • @thekingcody456 As a Russian that hurts my feelings,Russian soldiers lost so much more than all those countries combined in WWII,They were human beings and soldiers fighting for their country

  • @SashaVedernikov . . . Stalin demanded a second front to take some of the pressure on the eastern front. Churchill did not want it at first, but later went along. Without the sacrifice of many allied troops, the massive supplies of weapons, airplanes etc. the Soviet Union would have been destroyed totally.

  • @Sateeya1 Where was this "second front" when 2500 Russians were dying a day in Stalingrad 1942? hmmm? Why were no "Allied" troops helping the Russians then. The Red Army achieved victory on their own in that time,Supplies? not an excuse,90 percent of these supplies never reached Russian lines and thats a fact. Another fact is the western front was a cake walk compared to the real war the Red Army was fighting,For the Red Army it was a fight for survival

  • Oh shut up you silly person. We tried to send supplies but the planes got shot down and we DID try to get to you but you seem to forget that the entire German army was heading that way so by the time we'd get to you we'd have killed most of them any way.

What were we supposed to do? Divide our already battered British army and send everybody there plus try to defend and fight for other countries at the same time? We're only a little country you know. Sheesh,,,

  • @SashaVedernikov . . . Most of the supplies reached Russia. A lot came in by ship. That is a fact. The second front was in the west. Had the allied just waited long enough in the west, Russia would be history.

"A bridge too far" is one example of a test of strength in the west before D day.

  • @Sateeya1 "A Bridge Too Far" is nothing more than a good example of a Hollywood movie.

I have never seen anything out of Hollywood that depicted combat as it really is - there is no way to portray that - EXCEPT for "Band of Brothers" in a couple of their episodes.

  • @Halo101st .... I have never seen the movie. I am talking about the commando raid they pulled of that went sour.

  • @Halo101st A Bridge too far is about the British during Operation Market Garden isn't it?

  • @berserker276 It was a combined British and American effort into the Netherlands attempting to open a new front and advance into Germany. It failed because the Germans blew up strategically vital bridges and held them while allied supply lines were stretched pretty thin and needed material could not be brought up in sufficient quantities.

  • @Halo101st I know that.. I was asking if the film was about the British during Operation Market Garden/OMG

  • It's not a film it's a television series lol.

  • @berserker276 But yes Operation Market Garden is in this.

  • @berserker276 Yes, you did, sorry. No, it was about the Americans and I do not remember if they specified the 101st Airborne, or any specific unit, or not. The British were mentioned as having a rough time of it and unable to reinforce if I remember correctly. However, the movie lead the audience to believe that the Americans were the only major fighting force involved. Hooray for Hollywood!

  • How many more times? It wasn't a movie! lol

  • @ShroudedFury

" A Bridge Too Far" is a 1977 epic war film based on the 1974 book of the same name by Cornelius Ryan, adapted by William Goldman. It was produced by Joseph E. Levine and Richard P. Levine and directed by Richard Attenborough.

  • @Halo101st Hollywood suck lol. So in the movie the British aren't even mentioned at all? It's kinda the same with Saving Pvt Ryan.. The only time the British are mentioned in that film is when they're all bitching about them struggling in Caen.

  • @berserker276 Yeh that's the only thing that sucks about it, we British fought so much in that war yet we're hardly ever mentioned in this. What's even more shameful is that Simon Pegg appeared in it but as an American, and he aint even American he's British lol.

  • @ShroudedFury Lol half the actors in this are British as well. Johhny Martin, Dick Winters, Joe Liebgott, Donald Hoobler, Shifty Powers, Floyd Talbert, Albert Blithe are all played by British actors lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @ShroudedFury As I originally said here, Hollywood would not know combat action if it bit them in the behind. Also, facts have value to them whenever they do not get in the way of what they consider to be a good story.

    Cheers

  • @ShroudedFury Apparently there is a British version of Band of Brothers coming out lol but about the Afghan war I think. Not entirely sure as I just heard my friend say it.

  • @thekingcody456 *canada

  • @thekingcody456 ...this is one of the best comments ive ever seen....and damn those serbs too.

  • @thekingcody456 russia are made out to be the scum of the earth in video games xD

if they wer half as evil as they are in mw2 for example they could take over world in a few weeks lol

    all middle east true evil

i think we just have to nuke there with america n britains trident flets nd we r flyin ^^

  • @thekingcody456

I'm okay with this comment but what if I am Russian? how does that make me feel about the millions who lost their lives for Russia? Answer me that before you thumb up that comment. God bless all the allies and the men and women who gave their lives. Your memory and service will never be forgotten.

  • @thekingcody456 seems a lil mean to the Russians. The bad leader is only opinion and not all of them hate different nationalities.

  • @issarss I agree.. Even though Germany was at war with England, Russia, America, etc. not all of them wanted it, not all of them wanted to be at war. People should not judge an entire nation on the actions of its leader.

  • @ShroudedFury True. Plus Germany is badass nation who is a great Allie, and they have one of the most beautiful histories iv ever known.

  • @ShroudedFury actions of its leader? so it wasnt all the german soldiers cooking jews in ovens and invading contries and shooting enemy soldiers. hitler bent the fabric of space time and did it all himself. alone. with no one to help him. youre going to learn one day that an army is made of individual men, and each man can say no, regardless of the consequences. If my Prime minister told me to invade a country tomorrow, i wouldnt care if the penalty was death row, I WOULDNT DO IT.

  • @acesneeks I wasn't talking about the soldiers i was talking about the civilians

  • @thekingcody456 hey also greece they were the only country to actually rebel against nazi germany unlike france pretty much giving up... Greece was the only country to fight against 4 countries at the same time!

  • @thekingcody456 Show a little respect at least to the Russians?

  • @thekingcody456 I'm from Germany. Well, the russians are enemys in most movies from the states. So the movie makers tegisseurs or whatever have make an enemy in the heads of a few people.

And the russians give there best to be this enemy.

sry for my bad english I'm just a student xD

  • @h888555 hast Recht in den meisten Filmen werden Russen als "böse" dargestellt. Aber Deutsche auch und die hatten auch Familien. Es waren keine gezüchteten Bösewichte und längst nicht alle National Sozialisten

  • @thekingcody456 i hope Italy too ;)

  • i am taking paratrooper training in two years with the Canadian forces. i am a Cadet Master Corporal. the airborn is what i want to do for a career. And I agree. that the Alliance with the Americans is a really good thing. long live the U.N..

  • I would like to be SAS but since i live in the Good Ol USA im gonna join the rangers

    USA ALL THE WAY

    rangers lead the way

  • @prowar4 you dont join the rangers....you join the army. then go to tryouts (for lack of a better term) for rangers. good luck dude

  • Isn't the 101st Airborne now called Delta Force? They're apperently the best in the world (with the exception of SAS).

  • @lemob182 HELL NO. 101st is now "Air Assualt"(Fast Roping from Holicopters) Delta Force is a Top Secret Counter Terrorist Unit in the Army.

    101st..../watch?v=tt8OLMDn6RI&feature=related

  • Easy Company is no more. They are all gone. Each and every one a true hero. What those guys endured is beyond description. It makes my 88 days of continuous combat in 1966 look almost bearable by comparison. They lived in holes during the coldest winter in 50 years without proper clothes and at times were down to one round of ammo each. Unbelievable! May God Bless them all.

  • It was truly an honor to know of their story & it gets to me everytime I hear it.

GOD bless the men of Easy Co, 506th PIR, 101st ABD and may your names and story forever live on.

-former SSG US Army Special Operations

  • the thing to remember is the men in your squad will always be your brothers,

  • God bless the 101st airborne, servant dick winters and all his men

  • war is a helluva way to die

  • I had never heard of these men, but knew the history of the airborne units as a whole. Unknown to me as a teenager, I never knew that I 30 years after what these men went through that I would be doing much the same withmany of te same feelings. I always ahke the hands of our soldiers whenever I see them in the airport and insure they get a better greeting than I got coming home. AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY!!!

  • @thissitesucks74 Hey i'm British so i'll not take offense because he did insult Americans which i don't agree with lol.

  • @ShroudedFury Not all of us Americans are stupid.Only the politicians are.

  • @ShroudedFury Not all of us Americans are stupid.Only the politicians are.I Dont believe in insulting other countries(except for the french)Every country has good and bad and our fault is the politicians.

  • @HailEnki91 Fuck you i said fuck you.

  • The music for this series was simply perfect for it.

  • There is no way to show enough respect for these emn and women of france, england, america, russia, australia, and all the other great countries who fought the German. I feel pure anger and hatred when people in my class, say what was d-day or the wars boring, who cares. How wrong they are, I just get so annoyed. They should learn respect and should HONOUR the dead who died for all our countries. standing side by side. Man with man. TO WAR! HURRAH!!!!!!!! From will barker- 24 years of age. Thanks

  • @barker963 I made a mistake im actually only 14 sorry.

  • Great song......for all time......

  • I love band of brothers

  • i'm due for another run through of that series. best war film/series ever. I still haven't seen any of the pacific sadly :(

  • The 101st Airborne Division... well, that's about all that needs be said. If you have never heard of us, ask around. Any military unit in the world will tell you they would a hell of a lot rather fight alongside us than against we band of brothers. AIRBORNE!

  • @Halo101st you're from the 101st? really?

  • @razgrizghost1 Yes sir, I joined the 101st as a Second Lieutenant., 2 September, 1967 and served until 27 February, 1973. They were the finest group of men with whom I have ever been associated.

  • @Halo101st cool! how much action did you see sir?

  • @razgrizghost1 Two tours in Vietnam, 2/327th, Phan Thiet, 1968-69 and 2/502nd, Phu Bai, 1969-70.

  • @Halo101st Good for you :) As human beings we have a lot of faults and differences but we will always stand together to defend others and defend what is right. I'm British and i'm proud to have America as our sister country, we'll always protect and defend eachother like a brother protects and stands up for his sister if she's being bullied. I think that our alliance makes us one of the strongest adversaries on the planet and may it never die.

  • @ShroudedFury I could not agree more. We bicker between ourselves on occasion, but, as the saying goes, we are you and you are us... literally. There is no way on earth I would want to face united British and American forces under any circumstance if I were an enemy. Most especially the 101st Airborne Division and the British Parachute Regiment.
