There is no set way to dance bachata, bachata is about dancing with feeling and letting the feeling translate into movement. I am so happy that our music is dance by so many people from different nationalities. In the Dominican Republic it was rejected by the upper classes, it was only dance by people humble background. I'm English and I dance Salsa, Bachata and several other 'latin' dances. You don't have to be from the Dominican republic to dance Bachata, or have to be a Latino for that matter. Any dance can be interpreted any way a dancer wants and I don't think anyone has the right to tell someone else how to dance - or how not to dance for that matter. And no I don't want to be Dominican, I'm comfortable with being a human being. It's like telling a non- English person not to write in english.

Yes it originates from there, but most Domincan bachateros hate it when people dance that way. You are teaching more of a Central America/Mexico/American blended version. But i'm not really hatin, just letting you know that If you want to learn to dance it correctly look up domincans dancing it.
