  • To Check out the Newer version of this cover with superior sound mix, go to the link under "about this video" top right, thanks

  • link it

  • i trhink that was pretty good but the sound was a lil bad

    keep playin!!!

  • thanks man, but check out my new jambi cover, it's with Better Sound.

  • Guys, you can say that he's bad at double bass but go to his channel and watch his faded line cover. His bass mic in the video is sick and actually does him justice.

  • dude, good job. You have skill and dont let people who have anything less then constructive to get to you ...(=

  • yeah I think I'm gonna redo this one soon with my new Drum miking setup. Check out my newer vids to hear the improvement on the sound.

  • phenomenal, but your set sucks for TOOL covers

  • Wingardium Leviosa ! lmao!

    Good job dude...

  • I can not understand how people talk bull about your video and the way you play. I played drums for a bit, but since I did not find a band I stopped. Anyhow, your coordination and your easiness to change beat/rhythm in between songs it outstanding. I've watched many videos of you and I have not seen a part where you miss a cymbal/bass drum or anything.

    Fantastic job man.

  • Dude how do you get so many tewls commenting on your video? I've been laughing at your replies. Point is, I haven't seen many covers of this but I thought you did a great job. Five stars.

  • I HAVE A DOUBLE BASS PEDAL! and I'm using it.

you're not pointing out flaws, you're just being gay.

  • Wack, do you know what instrument he is even playing?

  • lol, you are an idiot. I'm hitting every bass note that danny hits, but the kit isn't miced, so you may have trouble hearing it. My legs are still? I'm looking at them moving right now! one angle you can't see the left foot, the other you can't see the right foot. You're dumb.

And plz upload a video of YOU trying to do something before flaming others, it's only fair, you philistine.

  • you're dumb

  • not bad mate, i never new how danny played the intro, cos the bass guitar was so loud loud, but now i do

  • i really like the sound of your toms, and everything sounds awesome except.... i think there's something wrong with your groove during the verse..

but great job anyway, 5 stars

  • thanks, yeah I forgot to put the snare in the verse. lulz

  • excellent dude!!

  • you look like harry potter! :O :P

    Great work mate, 5 stars!

  • Wingardium Leviosa

  • Uhhhh? :S

  • amazing job.

  • I dont like tool but its a sweet cover dude.

  • I think you need to work on the sound of your bass drum a little, or maybe just mic your drums properly, but overall a good cover...

  • sounds good!

  • 5 stars

  • pfff...BAD...

  • personally i prefer MapexKing's cover, but still a good job! you have achieved what i will take years to build up to~ :D danny carey owns!!!

  • how do figure songs like this out??

  • Your talent and great taste in music should make you famous man, you gotta get a band going and start uploading some original stuff, would love to hear what you come up with. Very tight!

  • try 911 tabs, im not sure though

  • well played man,.. very impressive keeping on tempo and same beat as the track. Plus, just a kick ass song! very good with the little details also.. not sloppy. keep em coming

  • F&#k yeah that was awesome

  • What's your set up? Brands? Product names? This set looks like something I'd want.

  • yo, it's a Tama Starclassic Performer Birch kit. I have a Mapex Black Panther 6.5x14 snare drum. Cymbals are a mix, Zildjian sweet ride 21", a sabian paragon 16", a sabian evolution 18", and paiste signature 14" hihats.

  • gets some better cymbals zildjian suck good job though

  • thanks dude, but the only zildjian cymbal i have is the ride, and I love it. The rest are sabian/paiste

  • I are the bestest drummer evar "Zildjian suck, omgomg" Do you even know anything about Zildjian . I bet that all you can afford is from the ZT series.

  • Amazing.

  • very excellent drumming, but im so dissapointed in how your set sounds, get a drum key and tune them bad boys. Your bass escpecially sounds like a cardboard box. And i think your cymbals and the way you play them could use improvement, dont get me wrong though, very excellent drumming

  • or right, thats some shit hot drumming, a few more drums and cymbals and you would nail it. WAY TO GO BROTHER, KEEP IT GOING

  • really cool, the front view doesnt work for me though. id get rid of it.

  • I'm not only talking about the way you look...Loosing up is aplied to your aproach and way of playing the drums. It gives you freedom and also helps you develop your creativity. If u have a loose but effective technic you will improve you playing enormeously. That's what I'm working in my plying. I will soon upload some new footage of myself, but you can check my 2005 recordings...cya.

  • I have a solution for your cymbal breaking I went through 5 before finding this bit of advice. If you hit them with a side hit or glancing blow it will give the cymbal a much more brighter and full sound also They will last forever. It works I've had mine for bout 3 years and they look and sound brand new. your bad ass man good job:) Vicarious is a nice song to learn It never gets old. I've almost got it down love to hear you play it.

  • your a fucking good drummer bud

  • you need to loosen up a bit

  • oh and is that china and ride paistes? i can see the crashes are zildjians. the bell sounds sweet. paistes own, i use them too.

  • thanks dude, yeah it's not a small kit, i dunno what ppl are talking about haha. I actually have a weird mix of cymbals. The crashes are sabian (paragon and HHX Evo), Paiste dark energy china, Zildjian 21" Sweet Ride, and Paiste Signature Hi -hats. I try and go for paiste, but they are way expensive and I break a lotta cymbals. Rock on.

  • like someone said before, you missed the snare roll at 3:38, but i've only been playing for a year so i cant do anything nearly as good as that, great job. your cymbals sound real nice. but i dont know why people are saying your playing the song on a smaller kit. danny uses the sam amount of toms, just an extra bass drum, which doesn't matter if you have a double pedal.

  • Danny's all about odd time signatures and groupings, but largely, he's a just a brilliant creater of unique rhythm and dynamics. Either you've memorised that song so well its just muscle memory, or you have a wicked natural talent. I'd say its a bit of both, but mostly the latter.

  • How long have you been playing? This is amazing. Wish I could play like this. I've never met anyone yet who could play Tool this good.

  • Thanks Irontiger! I've been playing drumset seriously for about 7 years.

  • you really nailed that. very impressed

  • Amazing job, but no set is complete without a china!!

  • haha thanks...I'm playin a china on the far right! and i agree! :)

  • Thats a china? I didnt know they came in that shape, well your a talented drummer buddy keep it up. This is one of my favorite tool songs, you should cover third eye, but its pretty crazy.

  • dude fuckin awesome!

  • That was fucking amazing. Great job, you really nailed the song.

  • Good job, your toms sound good, you need to work on that snare sound though!!! Keep rockin

  • I love it u rock

  • pretty sweet dude. are there tabs to this or did you just make this up? and your snare sounds like shit, but your toms sound awesome

  • Thanks man. No tabs that I can find, I just sorta figured it out. The snare actually sounds GREAT, haha, but I needed an O-ring or some muffling, because it's tuned in a way that it really resonates, and the crappy recording of the drumset makes this ring dominate the mix. But when miked up correctly live or studio, it sounds freaking hugeeeee

  • Dude awesome drumming of that song I still have trouble understanding some of the parts you were already playing. Great job, almost perfect, considering your drums are considerably smaller than Danny's, but you still rocked it nonetheless.

  • Holy fucking SHIT, dude.

    !!!

  • your cymbals sound like trash can lids, but otherwise, though i wouldnt go to the extent of licking your balls just yet, that was awesome. job well done dude.

  • I've tried licking my balls, so far unsuccessful...

  • There there, you can't possibly fulfill all your fortes, you know? Be thankful you at least have a set that you can play with. All I have is a really small set of premature boobs...and perhaps a bass guitar...but thats too much information for now...

  • you are one kick ass drummer, keep it up man

  • you fuckin rock even Danny Carey isn't always perfect but you both still rock like hell!

  • Nice job man, this song has weird time signatures. bravo.

  • Kick ass

  • way to go dude that's awesome

  • nicely done with minimum drum sets but with maximum skills, you kick ass !!

  • two thumbs up, ur fuckin badass dude!

  • thanks man, big up yo self

  • hey man, it's a good cover, the only only flaw i heard was that around 3:38 when he does all those cybol crashes he does a really fast and soft snare roll, it's really hard to hear but it's there, besides that, it's a great cover

  • not bad man, keep it up. one of my favorite songs and you didn't ruin it lol well done

  • nice work man, the bass drum sounds kinda crappy but you work with what you got. i gotta post some of my tool bass covers on here

  • dont listen to any of the haters. if they wanna talk shit they can make their own video. until then they can stfu. you did an awesome job. i would look into tuning your snare and your second floor tom a little better. the ping from it does draw attention. other than that, awesome job. started off a little weak but you got better as the song went on

  • oh shit.....marry me

  • NICE, not many people can play like danny with a small drum set like that, very good tho, i got some TOOL bass covers up f u wanna check them out, only Sober and crawl away right now, but im planning on getting a lot more up =)

  • that was sexxxy ^_^

  • your good

  • you and me are much alike. both in bands that cover tool! both play drums. your amazing kid! you got talant!

  • wow its nice to see someone tackling tool's hardest drumming songs. lol come on kid who are you impressing with this drivel

  • well about 22 positive comments so far, so, I'm definitely impressing more than you are, noob. Drivel, Seriously? You are a condescending philistine, kid. ;)

  • lol did u call him nub hahahahaha thats funny

  • this is a really good cover in my opinion. i know nothing of drums. only guitar and bass.

  • JAMBI= JAM+ SUCK

  • stfu nub

  • Hey man, I may not actually be a drummer yet so my opinion may not mean all that much to you...But from what I just saw, I would say that your pretty damn good. Tool is awesome and so is Jambi, and it looks like a VERY difficult song to cover. Good job man, Imma go check out your other covers now :]

  • I saw you playing Noose, but I didnt expect any Tool covers. Pretty good man

  • that ring on your snare is anoying -_-

  • great cover. i ain't considered taking this on yet.

  • thanks flaner! yeah it's quite a bitch

  • danny has the sponsors to replace the cymbals, so he's got reason to.

  • Seriously. Danny Carey pummels his cymbals.

That said though, this is really sloppy. I think it's because you play with almost no control, and it's obvious you're not feeling the groove very much. You aren't playing it with any feeling or touch, it's way too raw.

  • Well, part of this alleged sloppiness is in the crappy, onboard camera audio recording. The cymbals are extremely overpowered in the mix (especially the china), making it sound like I'm hitting the cymbals too hard (im not).

  • Another part of that is my style. I'm a heavy hitter, that's just how I play generally, and this is a loud song, so it's ok to play it loud. And you say I'm playing with almost no control, but I'm hitting most of the correct notes in time with the music, what more do you want? Most drummers, however controlled they "look" aesthetically, won't be able to play the song correctly.

  • my cat's breath smells like cat food

  • well however shitty everyone else says you sound, i think you did best with what you had and what you knew.

    so good job man!

  • You're hitting shit way too hard man. The cymbals are hit easily.

  • yeah I pound the shit outta my drums, my bad

  • Oh my god! ...sounds like shit!

  • I try to sound as shitty as possible

  • Hilarious!!! Great retort. I thought you did awesome. You tube is the Devil but this is seriously entertaining. I couldn't play that song as well as you did, is all I am gonna say at this point. Small kit, big sound.

  • Oh i thought this would go with the comment you posted. I like the way you said that you try "to play as shitty as possible" some comments back. Still laughing at that one. Good work. Tool Rules.

  • yup thats what i thought it was

    thanks man.

  • sounds like triplets to me.

  • sik bud jus plain sik, good song for drums

when u start out, is it doubles or triplets ur hitting?

  • Thanks man! On the opening part, I'm playing straight eighth notes on the bass drum, and then triplets on the toms. I'm resting on the the third triplet, however, only hitting the first two triplets (the accents), so that's why it looks like im hitting doubles (eighths). I'm not sure if danny hits the third triplet or not, so I may be off there, but it sounded accurate at the time. Hope that makes sense.

  • excellent!

  • nice! did you learn that by ear?

  • yep, I listen to it a lot, so it wasn't too tough, lol.

  • what kind of ride do you use? seems more like a crash to me

  • 21" zildjian sweet ride, it's like a crash yeah. i like to be able to crash on it. It doesn't translate great to tool songs, danny's ride is really dry. But, meh.

  • i use to have a paiste signature full ride( i think danny has the signature dry ride) it was to crashy. but now i have a 22 inch HH saiban powerbell, its awsome

  • sweet, yeah i've only heard good things about sabian HH. I wanna get an alt ride, so i can still crash/ride, and also go for the more dry sound, much like josh freese's setup.

  • o btw, i liked your cover, but the verse tom beat is off(just being constructive) if you look at my subsriptions and look for donvanDdrummerbrown... or somethign like that. he does a pretty much spot on cover of this song, hes fantastic, actually all of his covers are ace, you should check him out

  • yeah seen him, he's extremely good. But even his cover isn't perfect, the rhythmic middle section around 3:40 he improvises some other rhythm, and also he improvises on the rhythm during the first and second verses (like 1:20ish and 2:20ish). But yeah, he's got a HUGE library of covers and all the one's i've seen were very impressive.

  • yeah your right, i watched his vid a long while ago, i didnt remember details. im not to much for the dry sound. i actually traded my paiste sig dry ride for the sabian HH from some guy on craigs list. i think i got the better deal. a dry ride is kind of meh, might as well get a big crash. punk music is good with dry rides, thats about it.

  • nice job

  • Very nice, well done man.

  • what kit is it exactly that your playing (meaning brand, series, heads and all that.)

    nice job anyway 4 stars

  • thanks dude, it's a Tama Starclassic Performer (Birch) 6 Piece. But the Snare is a Mapex Black Panther. The toms all have Evans EC2s, and the snare evans PC rev dot. Cymbals are a mix.

  • lol

  • nice job. you know your tool.

  • awesome

  • das war sehr gut

  • Hey thanks. Yeah, I realized that after making this heh. The china is right up next to the mic and the one mic im using isn't that high quality, so if i got better mics and a better recording setup, the mix wouldn't be dominated by cymbals. But for now yeah, I'll try out tightening up the sound physically. Thanks for the advice.

  • great stuff. im looking forward to seeing you guys do your thing again with another great tool song

  • nice. i wish i had my guitar in there :(

theres 20 seconds of nothingness at the end btw

  • yeah that 20 seconds if for you to reflect on the awesomeness that is Jambi.

  • ill reflect ur face

  • you have a mirror with you?
