  • This is one song that I can say "gets to me" everytime i hear it...One great song! Wish they still wrote songs like this...

  • i totally have a massive crush on cheryl wheeler. talent like hers is wicked sexy!

  • Wonderfully talented singer/songwriter!!! Glad to have seen and heard her here!

  • I spent 10 years in Country Radio ( '91- '01 ) in Leamington, Ontario. In that time, Aces was in my top 3 songs of that decade by Suzy Bogguss. I knew that Cheryl wrote it, but sadly I had never heard her sing it until tonight. Simply wonderful. Her song writing prowess is absolutely marvelous. Thanx for the terrific post!!!!!!

  • I don't really think that Cheryl wants to be big like Shania Twain.....she (at least every time I've seen her, which is many) seems to love small, intimate audiences......

  • This woman is the real deal. I saw at Tupelo Music hall last month; bad back and everything she put on one helluva show. So sad I got into her stuff so late. ![:]^\

  • This Woman Can SING!!!! Too bad it took me years to find her. I had heard her sing this years ago.even though Ive listened to country for years I could not remember her name, but never forgot her voice! We need more singers/songs like this!! Thanks for the song/video!..Now This Is GOOD MUSIC!! Something we need more of!!

  • I knew someone else sang this song,.but I did not know her name! Ive been trying to find this woman and song for yrs.! I just couldnt forget her beautiful voice.Thank God someone directed me here, finally after all these years! Thank you for the song and video,I love it!!

  • How is she not that famous? She has an amazing voice and is funny. If she looked like a celebrity then she would be famous

  • @1955poet! I 100% concur with you. If she was a 10 we'd all know who this beautiful voice belonged to. You should listen to her duet with Dan Seals and the song she wrote "Addicted".

  • This has always been my favorite version of this song. I remember when this was on the radio, before Suzy Boggus released her own version, and I thought this Cheryl Wheeler was an awesome singer. I don't know how anyone can say this woman isn't a great singer, If it was up to me, I'd call this the definitive version of this song.

  • It's a sad indictment on the entertainment industry, but if Cheryl looked like Shania Twain or Faith Hill she would be one of the world's biggest stars. Sadly, immense talent is not enough!

  • You are, sadly, so true

  • I wanted to add that while I havn't got to see her perform in person, I have friends that have, and they all say they could see her over and over and never tire of her.

  • I think what some miss when they are critical of Cheryl's singing is that she isn't just singing, she's storytelling. I personally love to hear her sing her songs, even though better singers end up doing them. She's very real, not studio smoke and mirrors.

  • My God, so good to look up Cheryl Wheeler tonight. What a gifted songwriter and singer. I would love to hear this eveyday of my life along with "Addicted." This woman has lived and is a godsend to put these difficult emotions to words and music. LOVE HER!!!

  • @gpfarmdog i am sooooo there with you. they are my two favorites. well, there is always estate sale. :)

  • I have heard other versions of this song and can't find a more naturally beautiful voice for it that Cheryl's. I missed her show in Olympia, we were short of staff at the hospital but I will wait for her return.

  • Ths isn't Cheryl's best song. But she does it better than that other chick. I'd rather listen to an artist sing, than listen to an artificially enhanced computer-human hybrid song. I'd also rather look at a person, than look at a ton of makeup and artificial silicon-human hybrids. Her hairs' a bit wild, but she's NOT ugly. We would all be blesssed to be as comfortable with our natural selves as she appears to be.

  • Suzy Bogguss is none of the things you accuse her of being. She is a brilliant artist, and has no need for computer enhancement of her beautiful voice.

This silly notion that artists should only perform material they write themselves is silly. Did Frank Sinatra write any of his material? Tony Bennett? Do you expect actors to only appear in movies they write themselves?

Giving a great performance is an art in and of itself, and one should not have their repertoire limited by arbitrary rules.

  • I like them both, but idiot, shouldn't be raping your cousin, shooting people, and wining about putting Jesus back in school somewhere.

  • You think Harry Potter is a religion? That right there says just how far up your own ass you are.

  • Harry Potter is a religion to some. Its full of Wiccan teachings and Paganism influences. Yet that isn't considered "religion" in schools. Funny..

  • i think conversion or pushing any religion including pagan ones, onto people isnt right. does seem like whenever were in crisis religion does get attacked though. christianity just happens to be the mainstream one.

  • Amen, VASINGER. Liberals and Atheists dont mind if you think just like them.

  • Suzy sings like a bird. Your analogy is way off! Its okay if you prefer Cheryl, but Suzy B. is a talent in her own right and has a beautiful voice. I have seen and heard her live. She sings even better than the record!

  • "Suzy sings like a bird." - a peacock.

  • @ForeverAnalog

I don't care how many "tons" of artists you listen to - your comments about Cheryl Wheeler are totally facile. If the sound she produces is not to your taste - say that - if you must - but don't insult our intelligence and make yourself foolish by claiming that "she can't sing".

  • I think she was a very good songwriter. Her voice doesnt appeal to me. Maybe thats it. I think she could sing, its just not my preference. I also dont like her atheist agenda.

  • @ForeverAnalog

At least she is up front with her agenda... So many closets so little time - esp. in NAshville.

  • Cheryl has a lovely voice, which you would know if you could spend two seconds listening to her and not focusing on her appearance. But what do I know, I'm just a record producer.

  • I've listened to Suzy Bogguss and she sounds tinny and horribly average WITH enhancement - sad by comparison.

  • No she does not. I have seen her live. She has no "enhancement". She has a uniquely beautiful voice. Pure as a mountain stream.

  • is Cheryl Wheeler the songwriter? Suzie Boggus recorded this song in the early 90's

  • this is so beautiful

  • fist time I heard this song on the radio the other day I had to find it and hear it again as well as my friends. Beautiful voice and strong hearted song looking to finding more from this artist.

  • this is a good song for country music.looks are not every thing sounds better than heavy metal.

  • rockmusic you are an idiot ..you should not be allowed

to post here.. I hate to say it ,,I truly do ,but hitler had 2-3 good ideas ..you are a perfect example selective breeding ...you should not be on the Earth

  • I love leaving a post like yours up for the entire world to see.

My only regret is that you don't have a spine adequate to associate your real name with it. But then again that is why they call your kind cowards.

  • rockmusic

Its the strangest thing; they say the Swedish arent funny with those sticks up their collective tush! Youve proved them wrong again.

  • english plz?

  • No offence at all intended, but is she a Down Syndrome sufferer?

  • Obviously not; however, anyone asking could very well be.

  • Thanks, Mongo.

  • Oh please, get a clue.

  • no. as a matter of fact, she's an articulate, funny, very accomplished singer/songwriter with tons of wonderful songs to her credit. she does it all. beautiful melodies. meaningful lyrics. expressive voice. fabulous in concert as well. hope that helps.

  • Wow Cheryl

    my second listening.

God knows we need to talk to each other.

    You are great!P

  • you can also CLOUD your judgement...haparuku shut up you idiot....

  • feel so good!

    it's comfortable when hearing/listening these(this) misic~

  • A cloud is a visible mass of condensed droplets, frozen crystals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of the Earth or another planetary body, such as a moon. (Clouds can also occur as masses of material in interstellar space, where they are called interstellar clouds and nebulae.) The branch of meteorology in which clouds are studied is nephology.

  • HaparukuU, ty for that literal, concrete description of clouds. There are other ways, abstract ways, of using the word. A person's face can cloud over. A person can walk under a black cloud. Carly Simon gets clouds in her coffee, if I'm hearing her correctly. :p And on and on. The abstract. It's a beautiful thing. But so is the concrete, the tangible, the measurable.

  • I just LOVE this song. It used to be my favorite song ever when I was little. It was so cool to rediscover it again, and to actually get to see a music video wih it. Thanks!! :)

  • God bless you Tony for posting this video. Never was much for a lot of folk music with the exception of Joan Baez and Cheryl Wheeler.

    Thank you, Steve

  • Oh, wow, I didn't know this existed. Cheryl is a wonderful performer, and this is such a gift to see her at an early stage.

  • Another great Cheryl Wheeler song. She is simply fantastic. One of the best singer/songwriters ever! Cannot get enough of her music and that amazing voice.
