  • In deep Love with it <3

  • the competitor are not land cruiser (that is more competitor of discovery) but maybe the patrol and surely mercedes G

  • You bring to US now !!!!!!

  • A review of an off-road vehicle with hardly any off-road driving, really? And you call this a review?

  • Being inloved with landrover defender since I remember, few months ago I've just got a 110 crewcab... and now I even want to sleep in the car!!. Support for markguitar... LandRover...don't change defender essence!!

  • I found out how to get Defenders (including diesel models that get x2 the fuel economy) available in America!!! Step 1: Register to vote. Step 2: Vote for Ron Paul who would then deregulate the market, thereby getting rid of regulation requirements on airbags. Step 3: Once he deregulated the markets, go on down to your local Land Rover dealership and say, "I'd like to buy a Defender please."

  • 2:45 "but that would limit it s offroad capabilities which is where this baby shines"

    2:50 - off road test :))))

  • i dont get why people say theyd rather have this than a Lancruier, a Patrol or whatever is outhere...i just cant see how this is a 2009 model. i thought its like 1999 model at most. i tried bringing myself to like it...but i really2 cant...it looks soo...im not saying it.

  • @EnvyHK It's a Land Rover thing. You wouldn't understand it.

  • @EnvyHK its just an older look for the defender and i think it looks nice but ye i see what you meen. and i am a huge defender fan!

  • Attention Landrover!!

Do not change anything with this Great vehicle, I just got a new Puma110 Defender and I have to say after owning 7 landcruisers throuht my 26yrs of 4x4s, That this is THE BEST 4WD Ive ever had. Keep it the way it is. thx

  • @markguitar1000 But the gearbox isn't as good as the TD5 gearbox, and it's cramped if you're very tall like me. But yes it is one of the most beautiful and capable 4x4's in the world :)

  • i like how when they talk about how good it is, they drive it through the smallest mud puddle i have ever seen.

  • Comment removed

  • can i still get these?

  • @pyroman675 ye they still make them

  • the engine makes 122bhp and 265 lbs/ft of torque.

  • did it have to have such chumpy music...

  • north america has SHIT cars

  • future vehicle right here peeps

  • I want one :)

  • same engine as a Ford Transit ?!?! WTF

  • Comment removed

  • @MetaView7 i know it seems crap but its more powerfull than all previous defender deisel engines so it works well although it still lacks ultimate power.

  • Who the fuck drives this on road..

  • I wish i could find one for my husband here in the US....

  • @soobwhale in mexico they sold this buy it and import it (:

    is not that expensive

    sorry for my bad english

  • don't change it, it's perfect. plenty of comfy sedans if you don't apreciate a offroad rig

  • Can this be purchased with front manual windows? Nato style wheels ... more utilitarian than this one?

  • Mmmm...I wish this available here in the States...I don't care if it's loud and noisy on the highways...it's beautiful and I could take it any where!

  • @obsidian00 hmm my cousin has one in the US.

  • @staubin65 Yes but that is the old defender (which is actually not much different from 2009), they sold it until only 1997 here.

  • @hadabenz he has a 95

  • @obsidian00 you dont have this in USA?...so pity......there is a place in Malaysia called Cameron Highlands....we call it as city of land rover.....try to come here once......paradise of land rover defender....almost each house have a land rover defender here....

  • @khausmkds I went to Cameron Highlands... never seen so many Defenders in my life!!

  • @obsidian00 All we get is the Merc G Wagon. :-(

  • @obsidian00 ship to the state what my uncle did

  • I love it, but it needs a more power engine. Would have upgrade interior just a tad ttoo.

  • @ZigzagHag

Agree. It's got a serious power disadvantage over the 5.5L V-8 Merc G. Add a 4-Liter common rail and that would solve it.

  • @qwadboy I like Jeeps, they're decent off roaders and not too expensive but I agree, if you've got the money, the Defender is the wisest choice.

  • Comment removed

  • I hate the music (not only the sound - it's too loud as well) - and the idea to show a new picture with every annoying guitar stroke.

  • @WedidLandONtheMOON: So the Jeep is the best because it is popular in the US? Yeah right. And the best and most healthy food is McDonalds, because you yanks eat it all the time and have convinced half the world to do the same?

The Land Rover Defender will always be the best off-road wehicle do to its aluminium body on a ladderframe chassis. There are more luxurius and maybe even faster 4x4s out there, but none of them with better off-road capabillity

  • @pastorniels I couldn't agree more.

  • gay music

  • i've always wanted to ride in a defender.

in canada you dont see much of them. but when you do. just makes you wanna get in it and drive offroad

  • the defender is built for off road and i saw no off road driving in this video

  • @counterclockwise123

It is implied that it is good off road no need to test it.

  • WTF??? a review of a off road car and all they show is it driving through a puddle at the end!?!?!?

  • @tincanman1001 More like a patch of damp.

  • This review is very poor. Here we are, talking about a 4x4, yet they don't talk about it's off road ability at all. The comment about the tyres creating road noise is kinda like saying "This Ferrari is a little noisy. However, that could be improved by fitting a 1.6 litre engine instead of a 5.0 litre V8" Get real.

  • the clutch and steering are heavy ....what are you a girl

  • dude wtf u do not have any understanding on the purpose of a defender it is not built for comfort, it is not built for its on road capability, it is the only true 4wd left on the road today and Land Rover make these purely for off road so of course its gona be terrible on road! fck i hate ppl like u GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!

  • i want one of these more than anything

  • Why the hell dont US get the DEFENDER!!!

  • @zech007

They don't need defenders.... they have Jeep Wranglers, Wrangler Unlimited, Chevy z-71's and Hummers...... why would they want something like this?! Have you seen the landrover homepage? They list a working heater and two tweeters as selling point WTF!

  • @zech007 because u like ur pathetic jeeps that like to spontaneously combust :D

  • @zech007. Land rovers are not that popular in America. If you want a Better 4x4 Buy a Jeep Because those are Very Popular in America and in some other countrys. And People, Jeeps are By Far the Better 4x4. O And why are Defenders not sold in the U.S.A is because defenders dont have air bags. Back in 1990 or 92 the U.S GOV said all Cars are required to have air bags.

  • My dream car! =) The most better truck in this fucking, cloudy, rainy and muddy world! =) Don't worry Mr. weather... It's a DEFENDER!!!!! =)

I love this wonderful life! =)

    From Argentina!

  • hey...juz wanna noe, wad does the long pipe usually at the side of a 4x4 (above the front wheel) called ?

  • @ynopasswrd

its called a snorkel, its a pipe that is connected to the air intake so that you can go through water without sucking water into the engine.

  • @leonardomoses ouh...thank you!!

  • "Land Rover could make it a little bit quiter by fitting road tyres" they could also make it faster and more refined by making it a 2 door coupe but thats not why we want them!

  • its great but its fugly

  • @Fibs16 Wrong. Defenders are awesome.

  • @haarbl Yea its a great vehicle but it looks to boxy or something.

  • Its all fun and games until this thing breaks down and your friend in the Yota is still climbing the hill. Its a pity really. Defenders are badass but they're fragile.

  • You are kidding me right?

  • are these even available in america I want one sooo bad!

  • land rover stopped importing them into the USA in 1997 land rover didn't want to spend to the extra money to put in dual airbags for the new USA safety standards

  • what is up with that music????????!!!!!!!

  • Finally, a review which actually recognizes the worthiness and superiority of the Series-based Defender.

I don't know why ppl STILL continue to compare Land Rover Series and Defenders with mere toyotas. Land Rovers have ALWAYS been superior, ever since the japs decided to mimic the jeep and Series I Land Rover way back in 1951 when they came out with the "BJ" land-cruiser. (fitting acronym for it, too..lol).

The land-cruiser has basically turned into a minivan, and looks like one too.

  • 2:25 "steering heavy'?? my LR 110 Stationwagon is 1st series LHD 1983, power steering added in 1999: LIGHT! Offroad manual steering is OK really. Ramon25D: affirmative low front axle load= essence. 1994 from V8 to 200Tdi: engine up to front axle: all weight between axles. Empty: front 960kg, rear 1000kg, max front 1200, rear 1950: front axle remains low loaded: rear wheels run on front wheel 'compressed soil', not on 'worked loose' soil.. 1st owner, 540000km now of ups & downs. Greetings CPW

  • I'm an American who loves this British car! Long live offroad!

  • I was almost born in Series I in Tunisia, then Indonesia, Argentina in LR's (father worked for oil co). Have own business, USA, Texas, is already 25% turnover now, seriously considering moving from Netherlands. My LR 110 stationwagon (per 1990 named 'Defender 110') is 26y, exploring if my loyal & faithfull mount can be imported in USA actually (older than 25y). On road OK, offroad just impressive when the "reigns" are handled suitably.

  • the music is a bit annoying. and repetititititittive love the defender

  • I wish they sold them here in the US.

  • i agree with marvak, the motor is too small for the car, i dont get it when he said the defender makes youngstars like the nissan patrol and land cruiser look like light weights. the fender weighs somthing like 1.9 tonnes, nissan patrol weighs arround 2.2 tonnes and the toyota landcruiser weighs even more?? also at 1:17 he says it's a discovery, it dosent look like it.

  • not lightweights literally, lightweights in terms of off road capability, reputation, that sort of thing

  • @danebrewer10 and then there's the unimog, and the world of global expedition vehicles.

  • well yeah, they probably out stride the land rover in some cases, but for a capable off roader that everyone could own, better off roading than other vehicles, i think the defender is pretty well up there, i can't really imagine someone going to do a spot of shopping in a unimog...

  • sheepvl1:

The "world" of global expedition vehicles is really quite small. There is Unimog...Santana 2000...Pinzgauer...HMMWV...and while smaller, Defender and the original Series Rovers (NOT the Discoveries - although they DID do fantastic in the Camel Trophy, if I remember!), have earned a well-deserved spot in that category as well, due to their absolute ruggedness and their load0-carriyng ability (0.88 tons for the "90"...and nearly 1.6 tons for the "110")...Toyota does NOT belong!!

  • @danebrewer10 oh i see. but stilll he stuffed up when said very first discovery at 1:14 and it's a s1!!!!

  • yes he did, even I can't dream up any reasons for that one!

  • He's just a guy that prolly doesn';t even now what a REAL series rover is...Prolly thinks the only vehicle with a "Series" attached to it is the Disco. He prolly thinks the Disco is the original land-rover.....lol lol....and has never even heard of a Series I or II or IIA County. He screwed up...but at least he gave the well-deserved 110 a good review.

I have to admit, that's one NICE looking 110 !! It's good to see that Ford and BMW didn't RUIN the Defender! Who knows, with Tata now ???

  • thats a tiny motor for that big car

  • have you ever driven one? I own a 130 HCDCPU load it quiet often with loads over 1 ton and it does great, works hard with a much lower fuel consumption than a Land Cruiser or a Patrol. It is stock so it is considerably better off road than a stock Cruiser or a Patrol. A bigger motor would add weight that would make the front heavy and make the fender suffer what the cruiser suffers dig the nose. I stick with a turbo diesel.

  • the reason why they are not sold in america is because since 1997 they stopped meeting emissions standards.

2009 is the last year for this model defender in australia aswell because of vehicle standards.

and 2012 is the end for it in Europe as it will no longer met safety standards.

so there will be a completely new design for the next generation defender!

  • Does this company usually review cars? I think they're missing the point here with a Land Rover. Also, a little quibble I have, the skylight windows were NOT inroduced with a Discovery, they were on a Series 1!

  • get rid of the rover turbo diesel, put in an isuzu truck engine and itll be amazing. and also re wire the electrics

  • güzel araç kaç para istiyon...

  • My Landrover is crap on the main road But having it raised 3.5", massive tyres, snorkel, and massive winch means its so much fun!!! and so good off road!! the ideal workhorse my friend has an L200 and its got all the same toys and i have to constantly pull him out of shit way more fun than My old toyota supra In fact if you have a sports car sell it get a mans car!

  • what a dumbass, why on earth would you fit road tyres on a car that is meant to be off road all the time??? sidesteps?!WTF!!! sidesteps?! sidesteps do nothing but ruin real offroad they are always bouncing and can get you stuck! fuck man cant get in? buy a fucking sedan!! defender owners enjoy hoping into their vehicles!

  • No we fucking don't! I've torn the arse out've several pairs of trousers in my defender time - and that's an older one with considerably smaller tyres than this.

  • its a completely different thing the fact that you are a pussy. you just cant handle a Defender, its a rugged car a true workhorse that does not need all that gay shit that adds more cost to the car and just gets in the way. grow a pair or get yourself a jeep or a yota (not that Im against them, theyre just less rugged)

  • You in the closet?

Fact is it's a hassle to get into, and the seat-back adjuster is in the way. A defender is in no way some 'big mans' car, it's just an off-roader that's very easy to drive - my 5ft 16 year old sister is learning in it for fucks sake.

If you want to go to some homosexual 'slowly crawl over rocks' meeting then sure, forget the steps. But if you want to use the car everyday then you get steps. Labeling the need to use one's car a 'pussy' attitude is just pathetic.

  • wimp, wimp, wimp pussy. I have a 130 which I use every single day and I have the minimum skills to get in and out of my car, it is not difficult its not complicated, hold on lightly to the steering wheel and do a little hop. I would say you are old and find it hard to get in, but my grandpa can get in and out very easily. you are just a big baby that finds problems where there are none and I bet you are always in the need to complain about something to get some attention.

  • Those lycra shorts must make it easier.

  • naaah I wear normal mans pants, its your ghetto baggy weird crap clothes you were, use your own size 50cent

  • The correct term, since you're indulging in the queens English, is Trousers.

  • thank you very much for improving my english, as you might have noticed its not my first language

  • The British barely speak it.

  • @Ramon25D I see what you mean about the sidesteps but the reason you put road tyres on is for better fuel economy, besides, even the road tyres on a Defender are better than the stupid low profile ones on a BMW X5.

  • @G1NZOU than again, X5's have nothing to do with a Defender. X5's are built for those tyres, Defenders are built for offroad. you have a problem if you buy a Defneder to use it on the road it makes no sense, its an off roader.

  • @Ramon25D True.

When I buy one I'm not fitting road tyres or sidesteps, I'll probably fit a roof luggage rack if it doesn't come with one and some roof lights.

I just hate big stupid cars like the Q7 that are bulky for no reason and are designed for the road, the car I have at the moment is a variant of the original Mini but with a bigger boot, as a road car for one person it's as big as you really need it to be (although modern crumple zones do make cars bigger nowadays).

  • @Ramon25D true that!

  • He complained about the lack of sidesteps. That's rubbish. My Defender has sidesetpes-quite flat ones after taking it off-road.

  • thats a BULLSHIT review...

    boooooooooooo!!!!

  • crappy review... more off road please!

  • @Tubeseeker...

the 3door version is the shorter Defender D90. Id take a D90 over a hummer any day.. the real comparison point for land rovers is the Jeep Wrangler - though personally Id still have a landy :)

  • I like this review. I have seen it in the magazine however it is another model (3 doors). And my neighbor got a Hummer H3. It's difficult to compare these two rides from UK and USA. Any ideas?

  • Seriously, how you think comparing this one to the Hummer H3?

  • So why didn't you take it off road? The little mud puddle at the end doesn't count.

  • he says skylights that were the trademark of the original "discovery" ??

  • What is the music behind ?

  • Oh my gosh, not only do I wish we could get this truck in the States, I also loved this review with the music and editing! Simple, yet so appropriate.

  • the defender has not met emissions standards in the US since 1997, that is why you don't have them.
