  • beginning was crazy shredding but 1:08 on is fucking dope

  • atlanta falcons represent

  • uh shadow, i think he won b/c he ripped a nasty solo that's really diverse? i dont think the pt of the contest was to just copy slash it was to make the best solo from what i gather. i dunno what would top this and since it said slash picked the winner that really says it all.

  • how the hell did he win, is not even anything near slash would play its just some shredding , he is really good but total waist calling it slash contest if some shredder enters it and win,

  • That ending is fucking amazing.

  • O_o that was fucking awesome

  • go steve once again awsome guitars playing

  • Nice parker guitar dudee!! ;)

  • sounds like goukisan's guitar vs piano mixed with different styles

  • It sounds like Syn gates when you're playin that six-strings.

  • this guy, technically, is probably better at playing guitar than slash himself. Considering he was self-taught.

  • @nic95 You read my mind. Slash is great not because he can shred, but because he has an awesome sense of space and melody, which IMO is preferable.

  • Awesome solo, I'm not a slash expert but it doesnt sound like a slash solo.

  • @Dan7yeah It would'nt have to be solely influenced by slash, as it's a contest.

  • Epic end

  • holy fuk!

  • I THINK I JUST SHIT MEH PANTS :O---)---( 0

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT MAN ALL THOSE FUCK HEADS WHO SAY THAT SOLO SUCKS CAN SUCK MY BIG FAT HAIRY NUT SACK. KEEP ROCKING BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Parker make some of the best guitars on the planet.

  • I bet that guitar head was... half price.

  • your better then slash

  • where does it get good?

  • whats funny is that he's better than slash by a long shot

  • i love the second half more but all around a great eargasim

  • what did you win? an epiphone? trade it in for a GIBSON.

or else you will have a headache 7 miles long.yeah,no kidding kid..

  • @gibsongold1970 The guitar was a gibson les paul studio. I agree that Gibson > epiphone.

  • that was great man! keep rocking \m/

  • Holy shit bro.

  • i wonder what video mindaflame was watching, couldn't have been this one.

  • People can go on here and talk crap all they want but the fact remains, they couldn't play what steve did in this video in a million years.

  • It's amazing how many talentless losers get their frustration out on YouTube like the two fags below me by tearing down GREAT players such as the one in this video. The kid has a diverse sound and feel on the guitar that I rarely see nowadays. Plus it says Slash picked him so I guess he's stupid too right? Go listen to some Jonas Brothers.

  • Whoever picked this video as the winner, must be a total fuckhead, if i knew playing at 1,000,0000,000bps would win me a les paul, then shit any fag could do it.

  • @Oxide008 That would be Slash. I think the term youre searching for is "guitar legend" not "total fuckhead."

  • @Oxide008 You called Slash a fuckhead...he picked the winner.

  • You, sir, have Jesus fingers.

  • Wow dude, that was really cool. I am a classical guitarist myself, and I love how you implemented the right hand tremelo and the harmonics into that song. Sounded great!

  • Why the fuck would they give this kid a Les Paul? He's obviously just gonna bury it's beautiful tone underneath tons of effects and play it with as much emotion as a typist in a courtroom, just get him a fucking Jackson flying V and leave the Les pauls for those who know what to do with them.

  • @mindaflame7 A little harsh but that's okay. I play pretty much about anything in my spare time from pop to shred to blues to fingerstyle classical (which I tried to adapt on an electric at the end). I prefer faster lead playing but try to vary it a bit. I actually play with very little (if any) effects in my live and studio rigs other than what is immediately available on the amp head and a wah or volume pedal.

  • @mindaflame7 Would you calm the hell down

  • @mindaflame7 tell that to zakk wylde who uses les pauls for fast soloing

  • I think my kidney just exploded!!!

  • HOLY FUCK HE'S SWEEP TAPPING 0______0 YOU ARE FUCKING GOD

  • Pwoah! That was a genuine treat, super clean playing across the styles, shred and classical, respect!

  • 1:37 ftw

  • Best youtuber guitarist ! ! ! !

  • WTF i do not see whe he trows his pick xD BTW nice work you're a super nice guitarist

  • that was beautiful , just beautiful , the slow part almost made me cry , dude you play that guitar like a master , good job and keep it up =)

  • dude that is fucking sick man. like seriously twisted.

  • sick.. and i love the parker

  • awesome bro... absolutely awesome guitar playing skills

  • dude played like sum old italian ballad in there, some fuckin sick ass flaminco, fuckin a yo, this vid is the raw crack that keeps em commin back... smoke some

  • Some nice Satch and Van Halen influences :P good job!

  • EARGASM MUCH!?

  • Sounds like Pearldrummer999 is jealous :) It's ok, kid. One day you may be noticed too haha...

  • I love the volume swelling part.

  • that was one of the best guitar skill showcased ever on youtube....

  • holy shit that is aww inspiring you have to be the best guitarist i have seen on youtube do yourself a cover of cannon rock and your sorted lol

  • ...Win... enough said.

  • can i say it...fuck that i will..OH MY FUCKING SATANUS GOD .HOW THE HELLLLL.FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!.thats prety much it ..

  • badass looking guitar, and great playing too

  • OMG....... I FUCKING LOVE YOU

  • Damn kid! I play guitar too and am not bad for 12 but OH MY GOD!!! I KINDA WANNA... I REALLY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF NOW!!!!

  • i literally jizzed in my pants...

  • OFMG!!!! FMAL! im nearly dying watching this!

  • @ilm9719

    he uses a volume pedal!

  • this guy is fucking incredible!

  • HOLY SHIT-NIZ

  • Jack of all trades... erm.. Master of 'em too!

  • And here i was thinking parkers were for blues ...

  • wow you play like you just were god dude

how do you do to make sound your guitar like 1:13?

sorry for my english i'm just 12 and i speak spanish

  • yea it sounds so .... cool

  • he uses a volume pedeal

  • @urki2010

He probably used a pedal effect

  • to me it sounds like the god father on crack haha

  • holy fucking shit

  • Wow.

  • this is an immense solo!!!

  • this guy is great, but i think there were better entries than this one

  • This should have gone to somebody with a crappy guitar but could play really good not somebody that plays good and already has a good guitar

  • @darkrose700 it's not about the guitar it about the respect......foshizzle ma nizzle lol joke :P

  • @budjawlebac well i cant say he isnt a good player lol

  • Beast ......5 stars Plus

  • A Parker Fly! YAY!

  • pretty amazing!!

I mostly don't like shred, but you guy seems to have a real feeling when you're not going too fast...

    really nice!

  • wooooo falcons

  • cool :) glad u won. and ppl, there will be other contests. if u think u got what it takes, then enter them ^^

  • Awesome playing. But I get so pissed off when I see a guy playing $1000+ Parker win a les paul. Why not give to some kid that can't afford a nice guitar!!

  • It's a contest of talent, not poorness.

  • because he won

  • 1:11 was an amazing transition

  • Well, let me clear something up for the naysayers. First, this is NOT a song it was mostly an improvised solo, even the classical fingerpicking section. This video was made in mind with standing out of a pool of over 1,000 videos to get the attention of the guest judge, Slash (which it did). Superflea, you've stated your opinion and I respect that, but please move on its getting redundant. Topaz, if you have reservations about my ability to play w/in a song setting then buy my album to find out

  • for the record, AAGuitar pulled me back in......I was out long ago.

how's the Les Paul? it doesn't seem like it would suit your style too well.

  • The les paul is great. I play just about anything and pick the paul up when I play blues and fusion.

  • cool. they're a beautiful guitar, I played an Epi version once and that was nice. the Gibson version I pulled off the wall and had a go of one time, and it was very sweet.

do you have a Strat? they would be my pick for blues over LP's.

  • This was.

    Amazing.

  • WOW!!!!! its all i can say..............

  • nice tap sweaping

  • 2:00 sounds nuts

  • he probably has classical experience

  • 1:03 has the best scale use sweeping!

  • 0:25 is my fav part

  • My favourite part starts at 1:10 ^^

But the whole song is amazing!!

    This guy is a genious!!

  • the shred at the beginning was very quick, but unoriginal, as that is what everyone is playing nowadays... but at 1:12 it takes a totally different route than what he started with. And the ending was just wonderful. Flamenco style guitar solo was something that I totally did not expect. Overall, a very good solo, and very deserving as a contest winner

  • i would to be able to play that well :)

  • It was mostly tapping and shredding. I'm not really into that sort of stuff.. But it was pretty neat around 1:14 ish..

  • muy buenooooooo!!!!!!!

si alguien me pudiera decir el nombre de alguna canción como la última k toco esa con los dedos sin la uñeta (o púa), se los agradeceria!!!

    saludos!!

  • Man, superflea get a life. It's pretty obvious you've never won anything a day in your life. Save the criticizing for when you actually know how to play guitar. Same goes for dhl1986.

  • I wasn't stating an argument, rather a command you little bitch: GET A FUCKING LIFE. Quit tearing down other artists doing something productive. You're right, fags like you DON'T matter to me; you have no discography, videos, or accolades under your belt to justify your negative statements towards a far superior player. Who cares if you were excited and got a hard on from your first Extreme album or if YOU would have given him the guitar? You're a nobody and a first rank amateur.

  • wow, you can shred like mad and you can finger pick like that, wow

  • I love it when people who say it's boring are people that don't watch the whole video and/or can't play anywhere close to him. Oh well, kids these days.

  • boring, just like all "shredders"

  • my god that's the best I've heard on you tube ever nice job!!!!

  • awesome TRY DOING THAT ON GUITAR HERO

  • classical gutiar defintly play a good roll. awesome playing.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • woooohooowoww

  • wtf? This guy's nothing short of amazing. Who cares how he plays, what he looks like when he does, or anything like that, bottom line is...this guy possesses some crazy skill.

  • Dude that is beastly, I respect your opinions of the naysayers (hope i spelt that right) but he was the winner so you have to give him some credit

  • This video was badass, especially from a kid his age. And wow, look at you three jealous douchebags below, who the hell are you to say what he deserved? He would play circles around all of you.

  • who's jealous?

I just said it was unoriginal....which it totally is. who cares if he can better than anyone else here? he's no Van Halen or Yngwie no matter how much you think he is. you know why? because those guys introduced their style to the world and kicked in the doors of what a guitar can do. what doors did this copy-cat kick in?

    maybe your bedroom door...

  • Haha that's quite a tall order, expecting him to be the next guitar legend. I mean, did you even watch the whole video? He does some great classical playing at the end. I've seen him perform live once, he won a top prize at this classical guitar competition in philadelphia recently at this festival in my school. I got to meet him; very personable and down to earth. I don't see very often players with good abilities on electric and classical, that's why i think he is original/talented.

  • yeah I watched the whole thing, and I don't expect him to be anything. I also never said he wasn't any good, and he may very well be a good guy.

It's just I would've expected for someone to win the Slash guitar, they be a bit more of a 'grounded' player (like Slash), not someone who thrives on weedlee-weedlee-weedlee-weedlee-weedlee-weeeeeeeeeeee! however congrats steve, you are a titan on guitar, no doubt.

I wouldn't have picked you though.

  • so basically you are saying he can't be a legend because he was born too late?

it doesn't matter if he is a fucking 2 year old hillbilly (not saying he is) he could still become a legend!

  • no. it sounds like YOU'RE a 2 yo hillbilly.

Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Angus Young, Nuno Bettencourt, Jimi Hendrix, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Slash.....I could go on, but I won't. ALL came out after Kieth Richards, Eric Clapton, and The Beatles but ALL of them have left an indelible mark on their particular style of playing. I remember being excited the first time I'd heard any of them rip, unlike this wannabe.

    'nuff said.

  • and he is coming out after vai and all that lot, there is no limit to music legends.

  • so youre ripping on this guy, because he's not like satriani gilbert hendrix, malmsteen, var, young etc. etc. Way to go bud! thats like ripping on a high school basketball player for not being like Kobe Bryant

  • obviously my point was beyond you.......*sigh*

It was his lack of originality, and the fact that most comments before me showered him with praise like he was the next rock'n'roll jesus or something that I had a problem with. If you'd bothered reading, you'd have seen that I said he plays very well, but he's no satch, etc. because they represent their own style. what did he play you haven't heard before?

in the end he won though, and congrats to him. bah!

  • I can understand what Superflea has to say since yeah this wasn't a very shall we say Nice piece to listen too. The skill is there but the entire thing Im thinking "Why doesn't he put that into a song song not just display his skills" I'm not very good at guitar yet but even I can realize his missing something crucial (I don't know him personally so I may be completely wrong) I do enjoy his finger picking peice though.

  • yeah he's technically good and all, but so what?

    there's nothing there I hadn't heard from boofy-haired rockers 25 years ago. I wouldn't have given him a guitar.

  • Damn hes excellent. But seriously......NO LIFE.

  • Who are u to say he has no life? He's guitar skills are beyond awesome.......he has no life because he practises? I bet ur a nerd with acne who spends 10 hours a day on his computer.....:/ U have no life!

  • Comment removed

  • you spend 4 hours mowing your lawn every day? doubt it

  • not everyday -.-

  • why?

  • He's technically good but no emotion whatsoever, it was a heartless display. come on dude, you've got to feel what your playing.

  • Yeah, what a heartless guy that Steve is...

  • How do you know if he puts emotion in it or not?

  • ... (speechless)

  • tht was really goooddd

  • definately deserved to win

  • that head looks like a bit to string

  • wow.. amazing..

  • I am stunnded simply amazing

  • he's not just shredding fools, did you see his classical knowledge and amazing flamenco technique at the end? Not to mention what you consider shredding are actual melodies and scales played at a faster tempo than most. That doesn't mean it's not melodic just that it's harder for us to distinguish each note. The guy obviously displayed his technical prowess here but also showed a complete understanding of theory and composition. Need I say more?

  • 100 percent agreed

  • slash did not choose him for nothing! you are so fucking right shredders can be emotional too. but some of theme arent

  • AGAINST WHAT NEGATIVES ARE SAID HERE, THIS DOES SHRED (boring!) BUT DOES SPILL INTO SOME VERY WELL PLAYED SPANISH MELODIES... Slash Would LOve This!! - Oh He Did!!!, Read his book.....

  • I looove tha begining!! But till 0:35 , its just shredding , but nice work man!

  • well ur rite about a lot of things tequilla, i cant play wat he played and from my opinion y did slash pick him i thought. y dident he have picked a rythym and lead kind of preformance not a shredder i hate crazy shredding like that. yea hes good but i expect differently from slashes choice. thats y i dont like all of this

  • tl;dr

translation: waaaah why doesn't slash like MEEEE

  • eeeehhh he's alright

  • cheez, that's a pretty harsh comment considering i don't even think you could replicate three seconds of this video from either the classical or electric section.. If Slash wanted to pick a clone of himself there's a billion of them out there. I've seen Steve play live before and the amount of feeling he puts in and techniques he has at his disposal on the guitar are frightening.

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • ...That's crule how good u are....

  • he makes it look sooooooo easy how the.....how...eh...how on earth do you do that, you do it as though you are so relaxed and make it look terribly easy

  • that's because it is incredibly easy

  • what effect pedal is he using at 1:12

  • its a volume control pedal same kind as a wah except it controls the volume so u get that cool sound, thats why his leg goes up and down on every note

  • wow man this is really good

    i loved it from 1:30

i can see why slash chose you 2 :P

    good job

  • how does he fingerpick that fast?

  • practice. lol

  • haha, true. man i suck.

  • Its Flamenco Style.

    Hard to master

  • I can imagine, your great (if not perfect) at it though.

  • i honestly usually don't like these kind of shredding guitarists (exept for Yngvie Malmsteen), sweep picking, tapping and tremble picking is really cool if you don't get to much of it! ok... it was good and it's really fucking hard to play like he does and he is really awesome but it's just to much at the same time! but i loved the harmony part! from "1:12 to the end" it was very much Malmsteen over it but it was great :D, and the fingerpicking part :O, that was just amazing!

  • im glad this wasnt like a zakk wylde shred

  • possibly, but this dude is pretty good, im glad it wasn't just a shred the whole time (thats good and all) but still i liked this for bot things, the shreding and the clean parts, who ever this is, awesome job

  • I think his name is Steve Dadaian =)

  • from 1:12 , neo classical

he got influence from malmsteen? :D

  • Genmills seemed more like a well written/preformed song with a solo was more about the music.

This was just more of a real bad ass solo that showcased this guy's versitility (can't spell) and technical ability.

They were both great in their own right, but this one was a better solo and the other one was a better song. And this was a solo contest after all, so this guy one, and rightfully so.

Does that make sense to anyone else but me? XD

  • OMG This was awesome, that spanish sounding solo was fantastic

  • how do people do this?

  • amazing, just amazing... its stuff like this that makes me feel bad about my playing :P
