I disagree and I understand about football. Messi is a brilliant player. But you acnnot compare Messi and Ronaldo unless you know what's their roles in the team. Messi is a classic #10 (playmaker) that comes get the ball and starts attacking plays. All of Barcas offensive game goes through his feet. Ronaldo is a winger, typical #7, his job is to stay out wide, get the ball, win the touch line and produce crosses.

We must look at what both players offer. Messi's got brilliance and creativity. But in Ronaldo you have something of extraordinary. A winger that scores headers, long-range goals with both his feet and freekicks from 20 yards out. I think Ronaldo is a far more complete number 7 than Messi is a number 10.

All very interesting, but the number on the back of their shirts doesn't change the fact that Messi is better. You also don't seem to recognise that Messi is a winger aswell, that dictates his teams play, now isn't that extraordinary? For Christ's sake, he can beat players without even touching the ball! The fact is he can do amazing things with the ball that Ronaldo cant. Ronaldo can't beat players the way messi can, he can even produce a perfect pass.

I saw that game and thou Barca enjoyed most of ball possession, it was Man Utd that had the best chances. Messi hogs to the ball greatly and has great vision but then we're not going to say that he's the best in the world just for that. Ronaldinho as far more skill with the ball on his feet than both Messi and Ronaldo, plus he has a great pass but we cannot say he's the best player in the world right now. For everything Ronaldo has been doing for the past 2 seasons, I think Ronaldo is the best.

And Messi is no wonger. Barca plays in a diamond shape formation with no real wingers. He goes to the wing sometimes so he can get the ball and cut inside. Messi is great in tip tap tow, give and go play. But he can't score an header and cant shoot with his right foot like Ronaldo does with his left. They have different styles of play and dribbling but if you evaluate they're pros and cons Ronaldo tops it and is more complete of a player.

You know Ronaldo didn't exactly score 42 goals by staying out on the wing, he cuts in alot aswell you know. I agree that Ronaldo is better at heading and is more two footed, but they're not exactly the qualities that you get exited about. For me, what puts messi above ronaldo is his intelligence and speed of thought.
