I have to disagree with those of you who say this is a terrible performance. This is a guy whose heart is completely in the music.........a damn RARE thing these days. It's always nice to hear a familiar tune performed in a different style. WE MISS YOU AND YOUR MUSIC DAN!
He sang the song hundreds of times the way everyone is familiar with but.if you'll look beyond the voice imperfections...it sounds like his heart is doing the singing..It sounds like a man reliving that moment and the "old familiar pain."
Dan's voice is deeper (I believe due to a tonsilectomy) but the beauty of a live performance is he has license to sing however he might be feelng at the moment. I prefer his higher voice but he will never be anything but the best singer/songwriter I have ever heard! He has touched so many lives....and is soooo missed!
So glad I found this video because I've heard this song twice in one drive and it ruined my day with its embarrassing lyrics: so cliche and so canned. I hate this song Dan Fogelberg, you butthead.
@chthonic19 got to realize he was fighting cancer during this time. it was one of he last concerts. I applaud him for his efforts. may he rest in peace.
I tear up every time I hear this song; this time, I cried. Thank you for posting :-) He might be gone from this place we call earth, but he'll never be gone from our hearts.
Thanks for posting this beautiful classic. The sheet music for the original piano part for Dan Fogelberg's "Same Old Lang Syne" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
CountryRock, thank you so much for sharing this. As always, Dan's performance was excellent. Such perfection; such feeling. This totally captivated me.....

I knew Dan in 76 when his voice and body were lean and taut.....he was the picture of a tortured poet.....what a talent!!
