  • How did they train the animals to robot dance at the conclusion of the commercial?

  • loved this place as a kid.........new the person who owned the land we got free tickets.

  • "It's scary, but nobody cares!" ???

  • I went here when i was a kid, cant beleive they closed it.... Sydney MAJORLY lacks things like this !

  • This is my childhood in one advert. My family also went to Paradise Gardens. Love those days.

  • If you Google Marsh road Silverdale in Syd you can still see the roads in the park where it use to be

  • There was a running gag at the time 'free entry to poms on pushbikes'...

These parks began to suffer when the animal activists - and the Greens - started campaigning against the way these animals were being used. I remember the bloke who owned Bullen's appearing on the Ray Martin midday show trying to drum up support to keep the park open. Basically once you'd been once or twice that was it, you didnt go back. The overseas tourists rarely heard about these parks too - no promotion abroad.

  • I remember driving around the lion encloser and the throttle on my Hillman Minx jammed, managed to get around the rest of the park by useing the choke (wouldn't work on these modern cars, eheheh). Great day out and a real good close up to the wild life. Shame they had to close down. I hear that there are some animals still roaming the property.

  • @ 0:32 is a slide, with the dragon painted on the side, now that was a water slide at theme park near by, does any one remember that place.. i went there in 1979 and would love to remember the name....

  • Naw my aunt was in the blue clothes she was there for 10 seconds :|

  • i still have an admission ticket with all the conditions of entry printed on it."condition 2(e).Do not attempt to leave your vehicle. If you break down, sound your horn and wait for a Patrol Vehicle.Do not get out."

    no shit,Sherlock!!!!!

  • @rcfirdy Would you be willing to sell it? We are trying to get a small collection of Warragamba History together to display in town?

  • our family went there in the 70's.my dad used to deliver bread for buttercup bakeries and the family car was the XB panelvan.with all the family, mum dad four kids, all loaded into the van,we would drive through the adventure park where all the animals roamed free.there was a sign saying "dont feed the animals",but almost eveyone used to delibrately take food in,wind down the window and throw it at the animals.they would sometimes climb all over the car, bending the aerial and wiper arms.fun times!

  • On wikipedia it says lions and a bear escaped and the water buffalo that escaped still live in the surrounding areas today

  • there is one located in hamilton ontario and its very successful

  • @seevan1217 I thought this was for the African Lion Safari here in Ontario, living in the province myself, but then I KNEW it was somewhere in Australia not far from Sydney.

  • It was a great place. I went on the Pioneer Coach Tours there many time as a kid.

  • That's me singing the jingle when I was a kid!! Haha memories :)

  • It closed down in the late 80's i went there for heaps of barby's back in the day. It got really run down before it closed.

  • Its the African Lion Safari, it's scary, but nobody cares! lol

  • Closed in 1991 because of new safety legislation that they couldn't afford. I was in year 3 when it closed and still remember it now.

  • My dads work mate owned the property it was on, Bullens leased it off him. We used to get free tickets and go all the time, as said previously imagine the insurance nightmare if they allowed a drive through lion park these days

  • Bah - the lions were ALWAYS sleeping. I used to go for the dolphin show - the female trainers wore very short shorts!

  • ahhh the memories!

African Lion Safari - El Caballo Blanco - Old Sydney Town - Australia's Wonderland - Bullens Animal World.

  • I remember going here when I was a kid I think it was 1977

there was also another African Lion Safari up at Raymond Terrace just past Newcastle

  • Could you imagine the insurance now if this place still allowed a drive thru lion exhibit. I do remember this place. The best time to drive thru was feeding time.

  • It wasn't that exciting. The lions would sleep all day and you would hardly ever see them.

  • Oh I remember this place, it was great too. But I guess it probably wasnt making enough money which is probably the reason it closed down.

  • i'd never heard of this place before... and i dont live too far from warragamba dam... when did it close down??? why did it close down???

    it seems so awesome

  • No idea when it closed... 90s I think. I guess it didn't make enough money.

  • @GrubcoTV3 It did not close i was there yesterday.

  • @GrubcoTV3 Oh wait thats a different one.

  • @GrubcoTV3 the insurance would have cost them a lot of money.

  • The African Lion Safari Park opened in 1968 at Warragamba, NSW and it was closed in 1991.

It was the last of the Bullens safari parks to close.

  • Lol that's why... I was born in 1991...

If it was still open I'd be there every weekend...

Grrr I hate the fact that all the awesome things get closed

  • @tlelover91 According to wikipedia it closed in 1991 lookup African Lion Safari Warragamba

  • @tlelover91 it closed down because a lion and a bear got out and the had to shoot them

  • @tlelover91 a bear and lions got out cos they didnot upgrade the park and they had shoot dead the bear and lions and there are still animals from the park learking around that area.
