  • Just love this and keep coming back if anyone knows the name of the music please let me know.. thanks

  • @Arvuvu9

Thanks for your comment! The song is "Sakura", which is a very famous Japanese folk song. You can definitely find many versions of the music online. If you'd like to see more classical Japanese arts, Noriko and I made a 40 minute documentary about the grandmaster of the dance school, and you can also see kimono, wigmaking, and other aspects of the art. If you email me at ssakamoto@gmail.com I can tell you how to get the DVD.

  • Their documentary about traditional japanese dance and the Grandmaster of the dance' is fantastic. Really informed and the Iemoto Yoshie Tachibana is such a character :) Search for 'The Heron and the Geisha :D

  • Is there an MP3 of this song?

This is beautiful by the way!

  • it sounds like a version of the folk song "Sakura"

  • Oh my goodness, this is so beautiful!

  • Very nice! I love traditional Japanese Dance! For those who don't know, dancing was and is not limited to Maiko and Geisha/Geiko. Dancing was a part of everyone's life from the Emperor, shogun, nobles, samurai, geisha, and farmers. Go to a matsuri and see.

  • I understand you are working on a documentary about traditional Japanese dance. How can I find out about that and when it will be completed. Thank you.

  • We will be posting a clip from our upcoming documentary soon. Thank you for your interest!

  • That is a beautiful dance and your wife is very beautiful as well. I love the traditional Japanese dance and the kimono is the most beautiful outfit in the world in my opinion. Please post more Japanese dance if you can. Thank you.

  • What is the song called? ANY possibility to find it on a CD..?

    Stunning performance!

  • BRAVO!^_^

  • You must please to be posting more of these. Thanking you sir!

  • That was very beautiful! Once I get my fans I'm going to start dance. Although there are no dance schools in my area, I'll learn from geisha videos on here and other places on the internet. This means I will have to watch out for false information.

  • Hi folks,

The dancer is my wife, and she is performing a dance in New York City. She is actually a TV editor, and dances with the Tachibana group. The Grandmaster of the school is Iemoto Yoshie Tachibana, and we spent a few months in Japan shooting a documentary of her. Check back with me, as we will be posting small clips from that as soon as my wife as the time to cut some of them.

  • How can I purchased this music? What is the name of it?

    Thank you

  • I googled "Tachibana school of dance" and it looks like this school is located in the US. The dancer is probably a japanese american taking dance classes here in the US. She's probably not a maiko or geiko. She's a lovely dancer, though. And I love her fan and kimono.

  • Really lovely. Great video clip, please post more! Thank you!

  • She must be a geko becouse geisha's have along with the bow on their back a ribon that almost touches the ground, basicaly a geko is a geisha in training, this geko is very talinted I wouldnt be suprised if she's a geisha now!! Beautiful song/dancing!

  • You are confusing Maiko and Geiko. Maiko is a Geisha in training. Geiko is name for Geisha is Kyoto. Geiko are no longer in training.

  • He tino ataahua..... ranginmarie... :)

    (very beautiful and peaceful)

  • *.* ...beautiful!^-^
