There are a few Bollywood films that are re-makes of Hollywood films, but other than that, Bollywood hasn't created a respectable reputation of it's own over the years by only copying movies from Hollywood.
Btw, Hollywood ain't all that great either. They too copy lots of Asian, French, Spanish, etc. movies.
Hollywood doesn't "copy," they officially remake movies by buying the rights to the film, a concept which has till now, been alien to Indian filmmakers. The only exceptions have been more recently with Karan Johar buying the rights to Stepmom and Ajay Devgan buying the rights to Right Bed Wrong Husband for his movie All The Best.

There are a few Bollywood films that are re-makes of Hollywood films, but other than that, Bollywood hasn't created a respectable reputation of it's own over the years by only copying movies from Hollywood.
Btw, Hollywood ain't all that great either. They too copy lots of Asian, French, Spanish, etc. movies.

Hollywood doesn't "copy," they officially remake movies by buying the rights to the film, a concept which has till now, been alien to Indian filmmakers. The only exceptions have been more recently with Karan Johar buying the rights to Stepmom and Ajay Devgan buying the rights to Right Bed Wrong Husband for his movie All The Best.

The fact is that the Royalty that is supposed to be paid for these movies is as much as the budget of the movie itself. That is the main reason of "not buying the movies". Learn your facts. I'm implying that buying rights is a practice which is usually not followed in Bollywood until recent times and I stand by that. And just because a royalty budget is too high, that's NO justification for plagiarism. So I'm not just throwing stuff out there.
