@malubayraymond i think its good, because it gives a wider point of view and a better understanding of the germans during the nazi period. because movies are almost always in the allies point of view, the idea came up that every german was cruel, likes to murder and will even shoot his own friends for personal gain. movies like this shows that every german was as much as human as everybody else.
I saw this movie because I love & respect talented director Bryan Singer. "Valkyrie" was ok but I didn't feel the atmosphere of that period in our history. "Enemy at the Gates" (2001) and "Black Book" (2006) were much better films. I actually enjoyed Tom Cruise's performance but he did not take the lead as strongly as he should have. His non-German accent was not an issue it was the strength that he displayed in his performance that was disappointing to many. The supporting cast was superb
Attention to detail? They have Spanish built HA-1112 Buchons pretending to be Messerschmidt BF-109's and there are some authentic 109's out there, If they want to be authentic, get those, and the one or two flight worthy FW-190's, then it'll be authentic. A Messerschmidt with a Merlin engine doesn't work.
His job is not to save his country but human lives, well technically hitler caused the actions which lead to germany's ruin,so... to kill hitler is to save the country, and all other countries.
Those four ME-109's, at least two of them appear to be real. Are all real or some are and some computer generated? Does anyone know out there? A quite historical film by the way.
If you are referring to the fighters in this clip they they are Bf-109s but P-40s. Bust as for your question I am not sure as to whether they are all real or not
What a cool movie. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought the acting was excellent all the way through. Great to have such a tale finally told in America with this quality of a cast and this quality of an effort. Well done. We give it four stars.
Though i harbor little respect for Hitler, and no respect at all for his Nazi regime, but i have a huge respect towards Germany's armed forces. I could be more specific on why, but nuff said.
@SUPERBAD119 I have respect for all armed forces, it is a lot of bravery to serve. What I don't have respect for are the soldiers that take advantage, to rape and pillage, like the US marines at Haditha (f*ng Scum!!), who were enabled by Bush.
@SUPERBAD119 really? perhaps you should be more specific, the Wehrmacht were big push-overs in my case, especially considering how Blomberg and Fritsch were treated
This was a great film. Don't believe the negative hype. For those like me who are interested in ww2, i reccomend this film.
Sometimes putting on a n english-german voice can kill the acting so by Tom and others going with their natural voice, brought out more sincerity in their acting. 4 out of 5 from me.
As soon as Tom Cruises' American twang kicked in during the narration, I knew this film was going to be rubbish. Has he just gotten lazy or does he now consider himself above trying to authentically portray a character (as he did with his Irish accent in Far and Away)?
What is everybody smoking? This was NOT a good movie! These first 6 minutes was the best part of the film! The only part where action took place and the only part that was semi-interesting! This movie was very dull and very slow. NOTHING happens in fhis movie (quite literally if you've seen it) Then again, I knew what would happen before I saw it anyway because I know history. Anyway, this movie was CERTAINLY not the "Greatest piece of film to ever exist in history" like sgeGaming suggests.
I havent seen this movie... but I bet Tom Cruise didnt die in it. He never dies in his movies... which is bad... in Last Samurai he should atleast... I mean 3 automatic machineguns vs 20 Samurais... everyone including the horses died... but Tom Cruise didnt... He can survive even if a Nuclear Bomb hit him on the head.
@krsforever As a matter of fact he the wee cock rash did die he was executed at the end of the movie. but i'm sure if it wasn't a true story he would have marched all the way to berlin fucked hitler in the ass with a leg of a snooker table and say something smart before shooting the fucker between the eyes.
Hahahaha good one... well you told me the end so I won't watch the movie now :). Or probably I will watch only the end to see how Tom Cruise dies :D... never seen that before :D.
3:38, the very same actor, says the very same thing to Aragorn in the Two Towers

P-40s are historically accurate. There's nothing wrong with using them. They performed well in the ground attack role.
