W.R.T. DC supply, should have stated that the left and right line feeds are negative (andode) and positive (cathode) respectively. That since diods 1 and 3 have their cathodes orientated toward the negative feed they allow electrons to flow. Conversely, middle diod two blocks the electrons due to its anode facing the -ve feed thus the bulb on its branch is off.
