Yes, fan the braid. Twisting it like that will alter the transmission properties...a little. Easier to put the crimp tube on first.. Also easier and faster with a proper strip tool when doing 600 ends on a job. Be careful with the crimp dies. They can vary by only 1000th of an inch and it depends on the brand and style of connector.
I usually crimp the back part of the connector onto the cable as well to make sure it doesn't pull off. There are usually two size "holes" in most crimp tools. Use the smaller one for the back. I also don't twist the shield into two. I just fan it out around the main piece. To each his own though. Good Job! Thanks
