@kreigsmann i saw a video a few years back of ozzy digging around his basement. and he pulled out a guitar case that contained randy's polka dot v. ozz claimed that it had been put down there after randy's accident and not opened since. it was pretty nastied out with rust on the strings and pickups.
I love how Randy Rhoads always looks like he is genuinely loving playing the guitar, playing with his bandmates, smirking, and just purely having fun. No modern day facades, pretense or egos.
I am 46 now and still feel like a kid when i hear this ! ! ! ! got to see this band when we still in high school back in 82 will never forget it burned in my brain !!!!!
Randy kicks FN ass and forever will. See you someday man, love you always. God I wish this the crash never happened. He is the greatest rock and roll guitarist ever, bar none!!!
@sono6io66 Randy Rhodes is a fluid melodic soloist....Satriani is a stiff technician....Randy Rhodes is a rockstar...Satriani is a guitar geek......Satriani single handedly killed the Chickenfoot album/project (shoulda called Ronnie Montrose...but I guess Satch is better than him too? )
the guy can play, but he plays to other guitarists....
HOW do 3 people not like this?????? I Don't Know!!! one of the VERY rare full vids of the late, great RHOADS on guitar!!! some people seriously have NO clue
Most obvious comment ever, but how fucken good is Randy Rhoads in this clip? Unbelievable. When you first heard this at the time it was like nothing else. And it still is.
2:16 is what I like to call "The eye of the storm" in this song. Randy's guitar virtuosity was surpassed only by his musical genius as a composer....He somehow managed to seemlessly combine the melodic discipline of classical music with the roaring energy of rock 'n roll. How rare is it that you find a guitarist that excels at both and combines them so beautifully? He never lost sight of a "great riff". What a dynamic exciting player!! We miss you so much Randy, hope God is taking notes!!!!
Randy actually wanted to leave the rock business and go to college and learn more classical music.. Ozzy said himself he didnt want to stay to much longer
@5249178 Brad Gillis used a strat, Jake used a charvel strat, zakk used all kinds of whacky shit (but mainly les pauls) and Randy used V's (jackson made their name on the Randy Rhoads v) as well as pauls... I think more the case is that they all (correct me if I'm wrong) used Marshalls (and wah pedals).
@dws901 your a retard. do you know how many people play guitar?????????? your telling me that when someone picks up a guitar they dont try and just rock out, or be melodic? that is what most guitarist TRY to do. i love randy rhoads hes a big inspiration on me, but their are so many amazing players out their today. these players today are gonna carry on music for the next twenty-thirty years and then their are gonna be more to carry on music. look up paul gilbert. hell make you be like damn.
to the vibrato scientist people. Randy used what was right for the song. a lot of people use too much vibrato. Everyone is a expert on "YouTube". Most of you are just full of shit. Non of you can play like Randy, nor can Lee, Lynch, or Wylde. Watch less "YouTube" and play guitar more. I have been playing since 1982. I don't normally comment on things, but how retarded!!!!!!!!!!!
Ummmm.....yeah! Listen how shaky it is. Not surprising though. Vibrato is one of the toughest things to get good at. Check out Jake E. Lee if you want to hear great vibrato. Lynch is good too.
what the fuck is that effect Randy uses at 4:48, sounds like a freakin spaceship landing???? lol.....actually, it almost sounds like some type of modified wah pedal with a really really broad frequency range, anyone know?
@42lynchmob actually in a 1981 interview with guitar magazine rhandy jokingly said that he didnt know why people thought he was good cause all he did was play EDDI VAN HALEN RIFFS!!!! no bullshit!!!! check it out!!!! that said i like RHANDY BETTER TO!!!!!!
Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the release of Ozzy Osbourne's "Blizzard of Ozz" album! Fueled by Ozzy's iconic stage presence/songwriting and Randy Rhoad's groundbreaking Neo-Classical guitar work, it erupted onto the scene as the greatest musical comeback of all time, cemented Ozzy Osbourne's status as a metal l...egend, and changed the face of metal forever....
And what does this video teach us? That if you are in Quiet Riot, there's a good chance you'll end up in Ozzy's band and then in Whitesnake. LOL. Love this video.
Randy Rhoads - the last "triple threat" guitar king that I can recall. #1: Incredible chops. #2: He looked and dressed the part - he was a very cool and humble guy but hands down a true rock star. Chicks wanted him, guys wanted to be like him. #3: The "moves". Look at the guy - he worked a crowd like a front man. Threw down blistering leads without so much as a glance at the fretboard.
Come to think of it who else could be considered a "triple threat"? Eddie? Vai? Satch? Nope.
@frankenstrat25 haha, why not 9? eddie jimi randie yngwie paul gilbert jake e lee Brian May Mick Mars Warren Demartini (of RATT 4 who doesnt know) YEAH!!! WHOSE GONNA GO TO 12, OH WAIT, I FORGOT Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot believe these guys were actually rocking this fkng hard!!! no bullshit .. just straight fkng great !! what ever happened to real music ... let this shit be seen 4ever in schools as what music was at one time in the usa
@jacoblroark uhhh ok... randy rhoads as fucking awesome but he wasn't one of the best yet. he was 25 or somthign when he died. he might have been the best eventually but we wont ever know.
the title is right! you don't know perfect quality hahaha give me thumbs up if randy is the best guitar player ever, or if he's one of your favorites give me a thumbs up
Ozzy is still in Sabbath'esque attire , but already at the beginning of a vertiginous solo carreer, backed by excellent guitar players, starting with Randy Rhoads
Its really way too bad Randy had to leave us so soon. The man was a genius, and in just two albums became the worlds greatest guitar player ever. Imagine what more he couldve done. The man had horrible luck, he was a "health freak" and didnt do drugs or stupid shit, yet Ozzy who was on serious drugs for 40 years straight, got himself into all sorts of trouble, and yet doesnt look like croaking any time soon.
I'm 15 years old and EVH made me want to start playing the guitar but Randy Rhoads made me want to learn everything else. 3 years now 4 hours a day. Thanks Randy.
The sound is raw & great here, Ozzy's voice cracks but who gives a shit, it's rock & roll! Randy was the man & even Rudy Sarzo here on bass was great, him & Randy were the only good things to come out of Quiet Riot.
Look how fucking happy the guy looks! Man he loved what he did, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen Randy without a smile. What a happy guy!
@gumballthechewy Most guitarist have that serious, attitude look when playing. Not Randy. He loved showing the world his gift. Just makes me a bit sad that he left us so soon. Heroes die but Legends live forever. Randy Lives!
@gumballthechewy You can believe I would also be that happy if I could play guitar all the time and not have to worry about work and college and bills and all that other bullshit! Randy Rhoads forever!
@gumballthechewy That's because Randy understood that when your up on stage and your doing what you love (and getting paid for it!) You should be happy and enjoy yourself. Not many people get to say that they played along side a GOD of metal. Randy was probably stoked about it!
it sucks when Ozzy screams "I dont know!" his voice is all horse and he doesn't hit the pitch and thats when they decided to add echo so you have to hear him sucking at it over and over lol then he actually did hit the pitch once and that's the one time it didn't get echoed lol...love this clip love listening to Randy Rhoads live...he's the best ever
@vaibanez17 Yeah, that's too funny. The only time he gets it right they don't do the echo! Pretty awful performance from Ozzy, but the band sounds great, and Randy is awesome as always.
I like when he also uses that technique with the high E string or so and he is holding the note along with bending the neck to give a whammy effect. This can be heard at 1:27.
Ozzy had what he been looking for all his life, the best, but for a very short time. Consequences for the life style he lived I believe. Old saying goes only the good die young, good things last a short time, to good to last, same thing I guees so on and ect.
The echos back then sounded like it went perfect with the song even when my dad played just made the song more unique in certain spots, now todays echos sound like feedback time 1,000
JayDeeSG (question), In this live Video at @ 3:30 , Randy in Solo appears to reach up to the Headstock (out of camera view),,, To do what ? What did he do ? What was that Trick ?? Thanx ziggy.
Thanks to all , for the reply... Yeah I understand.(Neat-Trick).. I couldn't hear it to well in this song/version.. But , it's very defined on the Ozzy/Randy Tribute Album ... The "I don't know" live-video by You-tube,, Kazeovalentine
@Tinkstoy01 So true. There have been numerous times that I've been down about life but as soon as I put on Blizzard it lifts my spirits up. Thank you God for giving us Randy Rhoads and thank you Randy for giving us the gift of music.

Oh I guarantee he did.
gumballthechewy 1 year ago
@gumballthechewy That's because Randy understood that when your up on stage and your doing what you love (and getting paid for it!) You should be happy and enjoy yourself. Not many people get to say that they played along side a GOD of metal. Randy was probably stoked about it!

it sucks when Ozzy screams "I dont know!" his voice is all horse and he doesn't hit the pitch and thats when they decided to add echo so you have to hear him sucking at it over and over lol then he actually did hit the pitch once and that's the one time it didn't get echoed lol...love this clip love listening to Randy Rhoads live...he's the best ever

pee pee?
BellyMan700 2 years ago
the 1:07 one sounds awesome, its the crappy quality of the sound and the shittily done echo that fucks it up
BellyMan700 2 years ago
@vaibanez17 Yeah, that's too funny. The only time he gets it right they don't do the echo! Pretty awful performance from Ozzy, but the band sounds great, and Randy is awesome as always.

I like when he also uses that technique with the high E string or so and he is holding the note along with bending the neck to give a whammy effect. This can be heard at 1:27.
hricl 2 years ago
if you do it too much you can break the neck or the joint at where the neck and body comes together

Ozzy had what he been looking for all his life, the best, but for a very short time. Consequences for the life style he lived I believe. Old saying goes only the good die young, good things last a short time, to good to last, same thing I guees so on and ect.

2:02 and 2:06 and 2:13
What more can you ask for? 3 echoed Ozzy blunders. And this was some of his strongest early live stuff.
Randy was awesome as always. Just imagine the mastery this man would have been doing in todays music world.

Thanx ziggy.
ziggy72170 2 years ago
Yea, he bent the string behind the nut to create a sort of tremolo effect.
JayDeeSG 2 years ago
@ziggy72170 he was turning his g string tuner to lower the note
GUITARD75 2 years ago
He presses a string down between the nut and the tuning pegs to get a pseudo dive-bomb since he's playing a fixed bridge guitar.
bigtornado69 2 years ago
Thanks to all , for the reply... Yeah I understand.(Neat-Trick).. I couldn't hear it to well in this song/version.. But , it's very defined on the Ozzy/Randy Tribute Album ... The "I don't know" live-video by You-tube,, Kazeovalentine
