  • Thanks for the tribute.

I remember singing this at his 200th Anniversary in the Drill Hall in Newall Terrace, Dumfries.

  • nice idea and well done too. ;o)

  • @keltickev27 Thank you!

  • Sorry mean't to say I love the video.

  • Was this not Kentigern? Or was this when Sylvia Barnes was with Battlefield?

  • It's when she was with Battlefield Band. Did Kentigern make more than the one record? I love it so much. Thanks for your comments!

  • @Gimmer3 I loved this song too and I had it fixed in my mind that it was by Kentigern. Listening to it again now, it really has that Battlefield sound. I don't know much about Kentigern, the only other track I know is Wild Roving No More which is on iTunes and is rather lovely too. Thanks for posting this it brought back happy memories.

  • I was amazed you knew who Kentigern was. I only know because I have a dear friend in England who ripped an old record of theirs into MP3 format and cleaned it up. I treasure it and wish there was more. I guess Scotch Measure also is a group that spun off from Kentigern.

  • @Gimmer3 Ah, you've got me with Scotch Measure, although the name rings a vague bell. Was that Sylvia too?

  • Yes she was part of Scotch Measure. It was made up of Jim Barnes (guitar, cittern, vocals), Sylvia Barnes (vocals, dulcimer, guitar), Andy Lavery (keyboards, vocals).

  • @Gimmer3 Somebody must still have these bands in their record collection. We'll just have to hope they get uploaded sometime soon.

  • I have Scotch Measure and Kentigern.

  • @Gimmer3 Sorry, didn't realise. I've made that sound like a major hint now.

  • Let's see what we can do here I am making more videos this week.

  • Thank you that would be lovely. I hope I haven't put you on the spot though.

  • You haven't at all. This is fun. Are you in Scotland?

  • No, I'm a Scottish exile in England, which is why I'm so sentimental about Scottish songs I expect. Are you of Scottish descent?

  • Beautiful version of one of Rabbie's best known songs. No ooubt he would have been familiar with the border collie in his ploughman days, Gimmer.

Pity he never wrote an ode to one.

  • He did write a couple poems about dogs though! Thanks for the comments!

  • LOL XD

  • Why is it funny????

  • @Gimmer3 Nuthin i just went to this burns supper and this song started playing and some guys phone went off playing a techno beat it just made me remember thats all =]

  • OK you had me worried.

  • Nice vocalization on this one. I like the version I heard first a bit better though... it's an up-tempo rock sounding version by a band no one ever heard of...

  • To each his own. I am not fond of Burns with rock sound. I am a acoustic music person. Anyway there are allot of versions of this out there so keep listening!

  • i like what you did with the video, btw...

  • is thIs Heather Haywood from Kilmarnock singing this. lovely song and video. thanks for posting

  • @killiekentman This is Sylvia Barnes, once of the band Kentigern years ago.

  • This music could save the world. But. alas, the world has gone a different way.

  • Nice. The tune is also used to "Dainty Davie", which Burns also wrote a version of.

  • So beautiful! and the pictures are wonderful.
