Looking at these comments, it looks like the future of horse racing is in jeopardy.

You don't get any restraints at all on a proper horse and it goes much faster.

The seatbelts look fairly modern - I reckon there was a time when there were no restraints at all on this ride, just like on the old woodies (you can't stand up on them these days because of the lap bars they put in).

Go on Wild Mouse first, this ride will be a breeze after that!

Everytime I Went On I Felt Really Uneasy And Unsafe And Then The Last Time I Went On It I Fell Off Completely, Some People Laughed, Some People Walked Off And Only The Staff People And My Friends And Family Helped Me God I Had To Go To A Hospital For Days It Was Awful I Ended Up Sueing Them. I rode this back in 1984 when I was 12 visiting family in England. I remember it was scary and you do feel like you're going to fall off at any minute. It goes pretty fast for only having a lap belt as a restraint. I didn't think it existed anymore, thank you for posting this. Brought back allot of memories.

Most 9 year olds would enjoy it I think. It's really not that scary and despite some of the comments on here it's very safe. Might be an idea to sit behind them and play the "big sister/brother" role of protector though just to ease their mind a little as I can understand how it feels unsafe...

i actually wouldnt if ur weak or short!u have a tiny seatbelt, footholds (loose of course) and u could soo soo easily fall or slip sidewards (lil tip LEAN THE WAY THE BENDS GO WEN UR AT THEBENDS OR IT WILL LITERALLY THROW U OFF UR HORSE!) its rly rly scary cos its jerky but just hold on and also at the front u have better hand holds so dont go on them in 2s! lol advise will seriously help ya

There is a little belt that goes around your waist. There are also tiny handlebars you can hold onto around the horse's head/neck but you would have to lean right forward to get a hold of them unless you are very tall. I rode it yesterday just sat upright on the horse not holding onto anything and it was fine. Although it doesn't look very safe, I felt secure in that your feet are on a bar almost like a stirrup.

I honestly can't remember what the restraints are on the Steeplechase but I think it's just a little belt that goes over your head and around your waist. There's a few safety bars you can hold on to too.
