  • your DNA must be seriously damaged, s.koreans

  • @buffon399 you gonna make a video series from the

Isabella Bird's book. Good idea ! Best wishes.

  • I ask you over and over again what your motivation is for making these videos. i am convinced that you were banged by a Korean and you fell in love with him. He then kicked you to the curb because he found a better piece of ass. You then vowed to the world that you shall seek vengeance behind the keyboard! If you were a hottie, you would have a more fulfilling life with lots of men pursuing you. Unfortunately, ugly ducklings are left behind to sulk. Get a life girl!

  • I think I'm gonna make a video series from the Isabella Bird's book.

  • @buffon399 North and South Korea are trying to rewrite their own history. It is good to show the world how decrepit the Korean peninsula was before Japan helped it to modernise.

  • Theres no way you can say Japan did more good then bad in Korea.

The statement about Korea having no Samurai. Meaning no soldiers. That is incorrect. They had the Hwarang which their fighting style was banned by the Japanese Military during their occupation.

You cant assume everything you read is true.

  • @randomnator Of course, Japan did more good than bad in Korea. The population was declining before Japan and increased during the partnership. The same is true for literacy or life expectancy. By any metric used by the UN to measure quality of life, life in Korea improved.

  • Korea should break off diplomatic relations with Japan

  • @farenopusizu All Japanese wish so. We need no diplomacy to Korea.

  • Tiresome argument this is. You pitiful right wing Japanese, this is the only way to get a hard on. You can't admit that the Japan owes cultural influence from Korea. oh no, that would be bowing to a culture you consider inferior so you flash few pictures of Korea during a era when it's at the weakest (at which time Japan was emerging as Asian super power by accepting Western influence). All civilization has ups and downs. Where's Rome now? Ottoman empire? Greek?

  • Of course, we admit that Japan received culture from India, China, and Korea. Buddhism has its origin in India. Confucianism has its origin in China. Kendo developed from Kumdo, the Silla battlefield sword techniques from Three Kingdoms period in Korea. This video focuses only on 140 years. You are completely changing the subject.

The point is that Japan gets no credit for all the good it did to improve health, literacy, education, and economy in Korea from 1910 to the present.

  • that's because they did things much much worse to Korea in comparison. There are two sides to every story. Nazi Germany despite what they've done to jews, gysies and gays as well as the death of innocent civilians it caused by waging a war against the world, did make contribution to the world in the areas of military and industrial technology. US, Soviets and the rest of the world would not have the technology it enjoys to day. But do we credit Germans for those? Do we thank thank them? NO

  • I give Germans credit for German technology.

Germany did not build up any country from scratch.

  • Oh sure they did. U think Japan was the only imperial nation? UK, Germany, France, Portungese, Spain all played a part in the game of colonization. I'm sure all had some contribution to the country they colonized. But the very act wasn't to benefit that country but to take resource from them. Do you find any of those countries thanking the countries who colonized them? If they do, why aren't they still colonized? What a ridiculous notion you have.

  • Japan was not imperial. Japan treated Koreans as brothers. They became citizens. There were Koreans representing Tokyo in the Diet. Please do not compare to those other countries.

Spain and Portugal went to the New World only to rob gold. The British East India Company was exploiting India. The UK government had to go in to implement the rule of law.

I went to Taiwan. Old Taiwanese people loved Japan and hated the Chiang Kai Shek. Japan built them up. The KMT stole from them and murdered.

  • OH what a bullshit! Japan was one of the biggest Imperialist nation! Why did they allied with Germany during WWII then? Slicing up and dividing up territories in Asia while Germany and Italy did the same in Europe and Africa to get resources and such? Oh Taiwanese love Japanese do they? They love your pop culture not as the colonizing brothers. If not, why isn't Taiwan still Japan's colony? Why do you fight over Senkaku or Diaoyu island? U killed a couple of protesters as I recall

  • The educational system of Taiwan is based on Japan. They love the roads, hospitals, schools, etc. set up by Japan.

  • @CloeBuckingham Justifying colonization and being cynical about your history as an imperial power will lead you nowhere internationally. You may have the netouyos and other ultraconservatives on your side, but that´s about it.

That aside, this video can be taken either as a joke, or a big load of shit. Both terms suit it nicely. :)

  • @makokun9 Your comments are too vague for a reply. I oppose colonialism and war.

  • @CloeBuckingham If you wish look down upon Japan or wipe out Japan, you should make new bad story for

Japan. This historical materials are reality. Actually , Japan made not only all infrastructure in Korea, but also

Japan brought up very talented people. Park Chun Hee 2nd president of ROK was lieutenant colonel of Japan army. From 1930s Japan recognized Korean police, MP. Since 1920 there existed Korean senators in parliament. Thease people helped when Korea could be independency in 1945.

  • Xentradi97, you should remember that the biggest imperialist nation was the U.K. and not Germany or Japan. The British had Burma, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. Dutch had Indonesia. The U.S. had the Phillipines.

  • Oh I'm not taking them off the list of Imperialist nation. Still doesn't take away Germany and Japan for their roles.

  • yes, why else they called theirselves ''The Great British Empire'' ? Imperialism comes from Imperium which is latin for empire. it means to want to have a big (world) empire, while in history in the medievals and antiquity it had very different meanings. the UK was the biggest empire, build up from colonies mostly.

  • it went from colonism to imperialism

  • Korea couldn't even keep their own culture. They had to change their last name to first and detailed names at birth during Japanese annexation. How is it even possible to create a public school with Korean roots when they were powerless back then? Korea could not be modernized because it was held back from Japanese annexation. When the annexation was over, Korea rapidly recovered economy crisis and built to its Korea it is today, Japan was never the mother country of Korea,, that's just nonsense

  • Unfortunately, you are spreading false information. The name change policy (창씨개명) was voluntary, and only 9.6% of Koreans changed their names. Many famous Korean kept their Korean names.

Japan modernised Korea greatly, making great sacrifices and causing hyperinflation in Japan. Literacy rose from 1% to 44% because Japan built 5,000 schools. There were fewer than 100 schools in Korea in 1910.

Modern Korea was paid for by billions of dollars from Japan including airport and subway.

  • This is a very interesting and eye-opening video. Good work, the truth must be told!

  • in 3:07 - seoul train station( is that building still there?) - it used to be until the 80s...

in 3:11 - bank( bank of korea - i guess used to be bank of japan?) building where my maternal granpa worked....wow

  • Very observant. I am glad that you appreciate how Japan created modern Korea.

  • Modern Korea that you talk about was almost completely destroyed by the Korean War. But South Korea did build itself back up with help from Japan and US.

  • That depends on what you mean by "Modern Korea." Literacy was not destroyed by the war, but that is something increased by the Japanese by 4,400%.

  • I CAN STILL SEE your vids, Cloe! Now, take it down! The BETA hides nothing! How else would I be able to comment here?? You've lost.

  • [2] Cloe and other ignorant people, know you the true Japan history and how the Koreans' status really is in Japan: click my name to open my profile and click my "website" in the left column

  • know the Korean TRUE history.

  • [1] This video reminds me of North Korea's propagandas in that "we" created a heaven on earth in Korea. Is this why millions of Koreans moved out of Korea to China during the occupation when Japan practically turned the Korean peninsula into such a wonderful place to be as this video wants to convey? Honestly some of those pictures in the video were staged by the Japanese - the semi-nude ladies - among others.

It was proven the same props were used in similar pictures in different scenes.

  • Staged? Nude Japanese women? LOL!

  • Cloe.. your profile says you are a japanese living in Australia.

    where about do you live?

I live in Sydney. I would like to meet you lolz.

i also met a few japanese ladies but they are not your styles i guess. let me know.

  • By his comments on my vids, and my use of YT insight, and downloading the PDF provided by YT insight, I have proven Cloe does live in Japan and he admitted to marking as spam all the comments on my vid as spam. Abuse of that feature is punishable by account removal by YT. We must all report him. He is over. He is a right wing uyoku dantai. I still cvan see all his friends on his BETA page thatr he thinks hides everything. LOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL.

Cloe you uyoku dantai are BEAT!

  • If Japan was a true friend, Japan would have helped Korea to modernize in its own with some aids (like US did for Japan). Instead Japan annexed and used Korea in its war time like slaves. It is completely sick to think Japan favored and benefited Korea overall.

  • It's a kind of nonsense that you write. There were people of Korean dissent in the Imperial Army who held the high rank of General, and there were Koreans who were ministers in the Diet. Korean brothers were treated completely as equals under a policy of assimilation, which is very different from the colonial exploitation of Asia by Western powers.

If Koreans were only used as slaves, then what would be the point in ending slavery and building schools and hospitals?

  • Cloe..

why do you think Japan built schools and hospitals for Koreans?

If Koreans are brothers to Japanese, why do you always write hate messages on Koreans on youtube?

  • Japan built schools and hospitals in Korea to assimilate Korea as part of Japan to increase the power of Japan. Considering that Koreans had lower living standards than Japanese in 1910, assimilation was a good deal. The desire to assimilate with a wealth-generating system is evidenced by the 15M Mexicans living in the USA illegally today.

I do not write hate messages. I have never used any insults, like those used against me (e.g., "jap monkey," "flat face"). I am adding balance to the debate.

  • US lives better than Mexico

but US does not annex or colonize Mexico to make it a better country, nor does Japan annex any African countries to become better countries.

Japan must stop making excuses for its past doings. It did have its purpose and it did not work, then must learn to regret and learn from wrongdoings rather than always trying to justify all.

  • @iamherenow11 mexico did anexeded my country a week after our independence from spain in 1821 and they ruled my country guatemala and all what they did was rape woman and we indepence from mexico they stole half of our territorry shame on you meican dogs

  • @rickkflores Excellent point.

  • @iamherenow11 One word, Iraq.

    That is all.

  • @iamherenow11 During annexation, Koreans were Japanese. There existed 300,000 Korean soldiers of Japan

army and navy. Moreover policeman, MP was Korean in the peninsula. 2nd president of ROK Park Chun Hee was Lieutenant Colonel of Japan army. You have prejudice that Koreans were slave of Japan. Korean teacher teaches the History with hating emotion about Japan . But how do you think about Park Chun Hee or Korean police in Japan era? And don't forget that Japan had never fought to Korea.

  • The photos in Rape of Nanjing are fake. You can easily find it.

  • They killed so many people in Malaya near wre I live more 5000 people in a village was cut of the head in town wre I live they had the killing field in a high school converted to police HQ many people wre killed also method Katana chop of head. Please bro.Japan were wrost then Hitler SS troops.Red the book RAPE of Naking. We want to vomit of that action of imperial army of butchers nothing else.Without freedom no good is really good but opressivness way of life without genuine happiness!!!!

  • You are talking about wartime, right? Well, when there is a war, there is always killing, isn't there?

And you speak of 5000 as if it were a big number, but Korea's population was in decline before Japan assumed control and it increased by more than 10 million during the Japanese period.

  • TWO GOODS CANNOT MAKE ONE WRONG GOOD.You did slaves for sex with Korean and other women even if some were prostitutes so the Imperrial army was financing prostitution wich is acrime in most civilized nations right??!

  • As I said, I do not deny that Japan did some terrible things in Korea. What things, and their seriousness, is still hotly debated.

My point is that we must judge the effect of Japan on Korea in balance. So we can compare what Korea was like before and after Japan's influence. I believe Korea was better after Japan's influence than before.

Koreans claim that there were 100K or 200K comfort women as forced slaves. But you should consider the credibility of that claim: watch?v=FRrhqka08Nw

  • nobody ask you to invade Korea nippon dudes, you raped burned alived people inside Korean Christian churchers that refused to worship at the Shinto temples Korea gave you the Budhism and so many things you were backward before the Americans open up you and now talk like you were angels jerks militarist that killed so many Korean!!!

  • It is true that Japan did some bad things in Korea. But it must have done more good than bad for the population to increase and literacy rates to improve under Japanese rule. If it was doing more bad than good, those things would have got worse.

One should look at the overall indicators, not isolated incidents. And why not mention South Korea's murder of 200,000 million innocent civilians in the South during the Korean war? watch?v=ZOfW0qqXPrE

  • Hey, insane Japanophile Cloe. Was this video you copied and posted from your other Japanese friends even necessary? Everyone with the knowledge of Korean history knows that Korea was in a miserable state between 1592~1910.

  • Apparently, people do not know that, because I only hear complaints about the period of rapid modernisation during the period of unity with Japan (1910-1945) but I never hear any criticism of the yangban system, slavery, or the fact that only 1% of Koreans were literate before Japan built schools, roads, bridges, power plants, hospitals, etc.

  • All countries had great eras before was more great maybe for that american was is view but Chinese and Japanese had they shameful parts as well the mikuksaram extrimination of the red indians in the name of Jesus

  • Japan did good and bad things in Korea. But if Japan did more bad than good, overall indicators of health, literacy, life expectancy, prosperity, etc., would not have improved.

  • It seems missle technology did not fall far from the thatch tree.
