How can we help Winter? Get real facts about this Dolphin and the CMA. This is full of lies and Winter's probably one of the happiest Dolphins around. If it wasn't for the CMA she would've died. She is not forced to do anything and she does a lot of behaviours outside of shows. CMA is NON PROFIT, they don't get money for having their animals, they do an awful lot of life saving work and Winter would die if released. Releasing captive animals is animal cruelty.
How can we help Winter? She needs a better place.. she is not a clown.. :( she doesnt even get paid for many shows... we need to do something... i feel impotent... I cant do anything to save her.. she needs to rest and relax... too much work for her makes her so exhausted :( just God knows how people can get so greedy without any feeling.. heartless... abusing animals .. it is a crime

They aren't the sole recipient of the profits from the movie, and they are a NON-PROFIT facility. They do have an expansion plan that is planned out, but that takes time! They are planning on building new pools for the dolphins, but that can't happen overnight and takes millions of dollars that the aquarium doesn't yet have despite what you may think.
@tommothe1st and anyone watching The Cove needs to understand that Ric O'barry was a secondary Dolphin Trainer, didn't actually have that much to do with Dolphins and has done more harm than good. He lies constantly about Marine Aquariums in America and Europe.
@IAmADalek I can't argue the lies, I don't believe he does, but I don't have the knowledge to argue. Though I can argue the fact that alot of what he says is true, regarding Dolphins in general. I know because I have been incredibly privileged to meet, sail and even swim with wild Dolphins on many occasions.

She doesn't do tricks. She's interacting with her trainers, which is a form of enrichment. She would be extremely bored otherwise. Captive dolphins need stimulation for their brains and bodies, and that's what these training sessions do. If you want to see tricks and exploitation, go after SeaWorld, not CMA.

Animals are not put on this planet to entertain. If you really care for these animals, stop the shows and exploitation of these wonderful animals. If humans caused an animal to be ill or injured, then yes help them but not at a cost of their right to exist away from the noise and attention. Allow the animals somewhere where they can be alone, when they want to NOT when the schedule allows. I too am disabled but I wouldn't stand being used like this.
I am sure the movie makes it look great. I will not see that movie for that reason,this place is a dump I went there 20 years ago when I was 10,and it was a dump then and non of us was impressed. The Mote Marine Aquarium is far better
Poor Winter. I have watched her online webcam, and what she does EVERY TIME i see her is languish in the pool, not doing anything. I appreciate all the effort that has been put into rehabilitating her, and caring for her. But please. This is not a good environment for her. She is not meant to be in a small tank surrounded by noise and yelling and music. She should be somewhere more natural.

Fabulous video that made me cry. This is so far beyond abuse I simply don't know the words. I thought this place was a rescue place...not a place where they will simply abuse her and make money off of her until she dies. My heart is breaking...
