Strange how you have the time to listen to music, because on my response the only time I have is to prepare for the call, then make sure I get them out "Alive"
@EMS221k The music is added at the time of editing the video, not on the radio. I do not listen to music while responding to calls so I can be alert to the radio and the events happening on scene. Everyone made it out alive, we were a second unit called in. Also, there is nothing to prepare when your going to a structure fire and im driving and my partner is in the passenger seat.
it would be a code 3 anyway because it is a structure fire. And an ambulance must be on scene as soon as possible. Also this seems to be a small town place so it could be different there, where I live we have ambulances running the streets 24 hours a day. So I could be wrong.
Nice video man. im a volunteer firefighter. i go in after people that i dont even now. cause i am going to save their live if that even means taking mine to do so. . Im thinking about changing and becoming a emt and do wat u do. i lije them both. i love ur video. keep up the great work. And be safe out their take it easy.
Sue me... And yes there was a need for lights and sirens. Male subject on scene with resp difficulties after being pulled out of the burning house. Its called Smoke Inhalation. Maybe you should try reading the rest of the comments before posting....
im so glad people can tell you that there was no need for code 3 or seatbelt....they should be lucky to have firefighters that care enough to get to you........so for that i thank you...keep up the good work brother.
How the hell could you tell from that video there was no need for lights and siren?
What is the number one killer of a firefighter? Oh yes, heart attack. We always have medical on scene at structure fires. They respond the same way the fire dept responds, lights and siren.
How did you keep him from going back in to get his dogs.. if he was having breathing difficulties because he had gotten the dogs out and the other medic unit that was already on scene was treating the dogs, causing you to be in a rush and not put on your sealtbelt? I'm just curious.. what you say compleatly contridicts anything else you've said about it.. So I can understand the rush to get to a structure and forgetting the seatbelt, but not about him tryin 2 go in 4 dogs if ems was treatin em
This video could be so much better without music, I can't figure for the life of me why peeps think we have time to listen to music on a response, stop the madness
that sounds smart.... the responging CD thing..... what songs r on it..... i try 2 do that but i have a hard time finding good songs on my iPod that get me in that mind set...... keep up the good work guys and be safe!!!
Yellowcard is always good, so is thrice is also good. (thrice, artist in the ambulance or yellowcard - beleive) I always enjoy them both at least, they even pertain to the job haha! but if you know of others I'm always up for new music.
Yeah it is, but thats cause he kept saying that he was fine. He was inhaling smoke trying to save his dogs, he tried to go in one more time while he was standing next to me. He started to dart to the front door to go back in but I tackled him, got him to the ground and five other firefighters jumped us to hold him down.
Yeah I know, didn't realize it until I watched the video. Was to in a rush to get to the structure fire. The homeowner was having respiratory problems from inhaling smoke. The medic unit on scene was treating the homeowners dogs.
Not much better here in Rehoboth Beach Delaware, I drove our ambulance several times and it takes a lot of convincing to get drivers to pull over. I know the area that you were driving in I used to drive for tri-county taxi (paratransit bus) in Pennsburg, Telford, and Quakertown.
Get the hell out, wow what a small world. Yes it does, almost feel like pushing sometimes. I was going to get ahold of you back in Aug to see if you could show me around your station while I was down. I almost helped out the EMS crew who's patient became abusive, but cops showed up before I got there. It was at the end of the block where my wife and I were stayin on 1 B
Not fast enough when your saving a guy from dying in his own home. He was suffering from smoke inhalation and we were there to give him O2. Never drive to fast to save a life, specially if it was yours, and you needed O2.
I will give you that. The fire trucks on scene should already have O2 on the apparatus to the pt. True that the pt with smoke inhalation needs definitive care. but god forbid if you lost control of the apparatus and crash, how good are you to the pt.
The firetrucks in this area only carry defibulators, no medics or EMTS on these trucks. We really werent going that fast, 60 mph until I got into town. Then I slowed to 45mph bc of traffic and pedestrians. I am a very cautious driver and always aware of whats up ahead. I have been driving ambulances and firetrucks for 4 years now with a perfect record and no tickets or warnings from police or my superior officers.
I wish it was like that here, but we would get less calls if the fire company did more. But then I could use my skills on the fire truck as well as the ambulance.
Nice to meet you, very good video. i am paramedic, and job in Rio de Janeiro city rescue ambulance in brazil in a very great bridge, (13 KM or 8,08 Miles of length ) Rio de Janeiro with Niteroi city.

You ALWAYS wear a seat belt. The 3 seconds is not going to make a difference. If you think other wise them you are just an ignorant ass.

opie652003 2 years ago
you of all people being a firefighter syouldn't have that attitude "nothing has happened yet".
What happens when something does? Dishonorable discharge, revoking of any licenses, etc.
It'd be a shitty situation.
Aside from all that, stay safe man, can't wait till i'm finally old enough to be in your shoes.

I always pop in a "responding" CD when going to rescues, structures and cardiac Arrests. Just a mix to get in the right mind set.

damn that's a tight fit into the garage bay eh?
PowwowTime 3 years ago
Yeah it is, even had to put sand bags on the one side so it would fit due to the bay floor slpoing inward to the drain.

This time I wasnt, you can hear the seatbelt chime going off the entire time. Normally thats the first thing I put on before I go responding.

Please, do wear. I've seen bad stuff happen to Emergency Responders.
