  • most of the movies I own are on Blu Ray so I am switching this year. I have about 20 movies on Blu Ray now and 50 on DVD. Gonna sell them and give em to my family.

  • I have a magnavox Blu Ray Player and I love it

  • God, I can't believe people are actually stupid enough to fall for this Blu-Ray crap! Like I want to waste money on expensive stuff when a DVD player which I already have will work for any TV set.

They need to take all Blu-Ray stuff and throw it into the pits of Hell.

  • @JediDanD You are so right! You are a genius! Its like comparing a Ferrari to a Honda Civic. They both drive.. So why should a Ferrari be any more expensive? Oh wait.. What? A Ferrari is much better than a Honda Civic? And Blu Ray is much better than dvd? Oh yeah that must be it! And whats even funnier is that DVD players cost over $1000 when it had just came out and Blu Ray players sell for under $100 now. Sir, you are and complete idiot! You must be either blind or deaf for preferring DVD.

  • @keeshond5 I'm not an idiot, you're an asshole!

At lease I have good taste, not just with what's on the disc, but what case it comes in, and all blue cases and gaaaaaay!!!!

It's my right to love DVD over Blu-Crap!

If you weren't an asshole, you'd know how to leave comment without personal attacks (doesn't count for me, since you attacked me first, my attack back even outs the score).

I'm blocking you & not coming back here, if you reply to this you're a moron talking to himself.

  • @JediDanD hey when summer comes, you can sell your DVDs and keep the Blu Ray ^^

  • thumbs for bluray being like $150

  • Comment removed

  • @rickie5150

well looks like someone does not have an hdtv or blueray player

  • I saw an Insignia bluray player at best buy costing only 80 dollars

  • i just switched to blu ray 2 days ago and bought cloverfield for blu ray and i love it!!! now i have gone to blu ray!!!! then today i bought 2 more blu rays (get him to the greek and galaxy quest)!!!:)

  • @LivingLife181

It is suggestable to read the reviews on websites like Highdefdigest

The idea a blu-ray yes has room and ability to provide such better quality. BUT it has to be done well at the studio. Indeed the studio has to make the magic happen and if it is a lousy conversion the quality isn't as much better as the DVD. So read the reviews...

  • i hate blue ray. like it took me about 8 yrs to buy all my movies over in dvd from vhs and i dont wanna do the same with blu ray. plus blu ray is way too expensive. like there is no need for a movie to be 24 or 26 bucks

  • holy shit, i'd regret it so much if i bought a 1000 blu ray player before, but it doesn't matter now because those phones that can play movies, and tv shows are like taking over now, i hate that. why the hell would you wanna watch sport in a screen that's the size of your palm ? or why would you want to watch avatar on a tiny screen when you can watch it on a 50 inch screen with high def resolution ?

  • 320 gig PS3 with the PS3 Move bundle 399$

    250 gig PS3 with MLB 10 The show 349.99$

    120 gig PS3 299$

But I also bought the new sony wifi blu ray player . because I'm not burning up a PS3 to watch movie's !! The system use's lot's of CPU . GPU playing game's .

  • the blu ray is better

  • Now theyre less than $200 and my parents still refuse to buy! And they have combined annual salary of $300k US a year!

  • or a ps3 for $299

  • As long as they continue to make dvds I will not be coughing up the approx. $1300 for a HD TV and a Blu-Ray Player.

  • It does make a world of a difference. Watching Finding Nemo is like having a 60 inch aquarium in your living room!

  • @taylor22222222 But is "Finding Nemo" worth the $1300? And who would want a 60 inch aquarium in their living room?

  • you people are funny, use your imagination. what would you do with a higher resolution?? ;)

  • Hey abc13. lol I only watch abc13. ...screw channel 2, 9 and 11. lol

  • i just saw transformers in bluray and it is just great it looked like the robots were real it wus mindblowing

  • people can someone answer this for me.?

what if i put a regular dvd in a blu ray player.?

does it make the quality better.? just asking..

& what store can i get cheap blu ray dvds.?

  • 1:07 1:21

  • vhs, vcd,dvd,blu ray,

advice: put your favorite movie on a flash memory or sd card (doesnt wear of over time)

  • You can buy a BD player for like $168 at Wal-Mart..........

  • @madjimms and $78

  • @Jezkipezki I used to feel the same way you do until i got a PS3 and got Crash and seen the quality of the Blu-ray and I was sold.

  • the big improvement with blu ray is the audio, the pictic is ok but it aint cinema yet

  • @Isle0fRed, you think cinema has better quality than Blu-Ray???

  • @1983Dave1983 well duh, bigger screen, uncompressed (for digital theatres) no pixles for traditinal cinemas, not to mention amazing sound and personally, watching a film on a biiger screen is more powerful than watching it on tv/or dvd etc

  • @Isle0fRed, well duh, if cinemas had blu-ray qulaity I would be more impressed. Plus I think tickets would be far more pricey

  • @1983Dave1983 you dont see films in cimema often well you should try

  • @Isle0fRed, when something good comes out and I have time I'll go see them.

  • @1983Dave1983 Hell most theatres don't have dvd quality video or audio.

  • @Bravesfan4500, yeah. IsleOfRed seems to think cinemas show films in blu-ray quality! I would notice that quality in the cinema, and some how I think tickets would be steep in price..

  • ps3 pwns

  • @Jezkipezki

true, theres nothing wrong with DVD's.

but higher definition is the better way to watch anything.

    and the future is HD.

so just deal with it and upgrade.

if you dont upgrade now, im 100% sure youre going to upgrade eventually.

so might as well do it now so you dont waste any more money on lower quality DVD's.

  • jeez blu-ray has taken over dvds. what about the rest of people who cant afford a blu-ray? i mean we can but then there willl be a huge money shortage. there will be nothing left for us!

  • @BeakyRed I agree, A new release Blu-Ray in a store is $29.99, whaeras a DVD is $14-19.99, I'm sorry but If I'm going to ever pay $30 or more for a disc, it will be a video game, something that last about 6+ hours instead of paying $30 for a 90-minute movie. Like the movie King Kong, on a DVD you see him with black fur, but in Blu-Ray you can see he has brownish stripes. SO WHAT? That little detail does NOT sto him from dying at the end of the movie.

  • @LCash523 I just picked up Coraline on blu ray for a measle $9.99 at my local grocery store. Most retail and aspecially Amazon offer great discounts on br discs.Hell I remember tv shows costing alot more new when they came on dvd vs on blu ray.

  • @BeakyRed Blu-ray has now been price mached to DVDs, the only thing cheaper is the bargin DVDS which are £3 - £5 over here.

PS3 offers great value for money as you get a great Blu-ray player with the great game experience, preowned ones are also reasonably cheap.

  • if you wanna blu ray jus get a ps3...even if you dont play video games

  • All this HDTV this and Blu-Ray that is all confusing as hell. 720p, mpeg2, H.264 compression, 1080p, and all those other "Nerd Terms" used to get the best out of a picture to me is headache-inducing and a waste of time, energy, and especially money. I'm comfortable with a standard DVD. I'm a movie lover, not a technological nerd.

  • @LCash523 It's not confusing if you look at it piece by piece.

  • @LCash523 Just go into a store, buy the 32" to 40" TVs that have 1080p (this is the full HD in which the picture is 1080 pixels tall with progressive scan instead of interlaced) and a decent contrast ratio (at least 50'000:1) and buy a simple Panasonic or Sony blu-ray player with an HDMI lead (Gold plated).

  • @LCash523 You will notice on large HDTVs that the 576 or 480 tall pictures look stretched and blurred because each pixel is now much larger than it was originally intended.

Blu-ray uses all 1080 pixels with better colour reproduction.

  • - watching a movie on Blu-Ray is a TOTALLY different experience .

  • i am ashamed we still have to by a movie on a disc, my grand children will laugh at me in the future, i know for sure.

why cant it be sold on like a memory stick or something? much more durable

  • @dissershock Actually, you will thank yourself in 20 years time when you come across some Blu-rays in your loft, flash memory is prone to eventually failing.

Optical disks (apart from cheap CD-Rs and other disks) are very robust and should last ages.

  • DVD won't last much longer. Since the only TVs in the market now are HD. people aren't going to want to watch dvds on an HDTV. It looks horrible.

DVDs tech is in the past. DVDs still use old MPEG2 compression which is like the least reliable kind.

Blu rays use h.264 which can squeeze amazingly high quality video into lower bitrates. In other words. A movie playing at 30mbps, would look like its 100mbs.

    gawd i love h.264

  • There is no pirate blu rays yet,you can't make your own blu rays in your computer, there is no portable blu rays player , there is no porn in blu ray yet,blu ray are fucking expensive, you need a HD tv to watch blu rays,in other words, fuck blu ray!!! dvd forever!!

  • u can make blu rays in ur computer they came out with writable blu rays so u can burn them if u have the computer for it. nd dvd wont last much longer ill give it 4 years till people dont use them anymore

  • @kondurperusix

higher definition is the better way to watch anything.

    and the future is HD.

so just deal with it and upgrade.

if you dont upgrade now, im 100% sure youre going to upgrade eventually.

so might as well do it now so you dont waste any more money on lower quality DVD's.

if you're just that poor, then its okay, i understand.

  • @RamonMarucut Exactly, if you have a small TV then that's fine but If you have a HDTV at 32" or more then you really benefit from Blu-ray.

  • @RamonMarucut yeah, but allot of dvds will probably not be updated to a better

    blu-ray

  • I just want whatever's the best. I

m interested in Blu-Ray. Mom just bought a Toshiba Bluray. I like it. I like the picture alone on DVD on a BR. Plus, I like the cases better. The DVD cases are ugly. I'm probably gonna sell my xbox 360 and save up n get a PS3 mostly for BR.

  • blu-ray will definitely become bigger and bigger than dvds, just like dvds did to vhs, and so on but, a dvd player doesn't play vhs. a blu-ray player do play dvds. thats why dvds won't just disappear like vhs did.

  • i got a sony one for 150 dollars a year ago

  • holy shit thats so expensive just get a fucking ps3 it has blu ray in it and its only $300 for a 120 GB one

  • yh your right plus you can play games

  • Truth be told, I reckon DVD will still be around long after Blu-Ray is dead.

  • blu ray looks amazing on my sony bravia hdtv

  • And In This Economy........Blu Ray Won't Sell That Much

  • I Agree

I Have A DVD Collection And I'm Not Planning To Buy Blu Ray

I Hope They Will Still Make DVD's

  • I've personally grown to be a huge fan of Blu-Ray lately.

I got a PS3 recently, and I love watching movies on it. They look great, and the menu navigation on the PS3 is great.

  • i hate blu ray

i wanted hd dvd to win the format war

  • FIX'D:

    i hate vhs

i wanted beta max to win the format war

  • If ppl are not really into movies then hd is not going to be for them. I dont understand why ppl slag blu-ray off as the pic quality id fucking amazing it beats dvd anytime.. ok ok sure not all blu-ray films look there best but it sure beats the pic of dvd.. look what happend when vhs was out and dvd came in ppl were amazed and now the same thing is happing again this time with blu-ray. im sure in years to come some thing will beat blu-ray.. Nothing more nothing less cause blu-ray is the best

  • @davefilms345 lol you were correct

  • People buy a PS3 you get the best of all worlds bluray player DVD player CD player Internet browser and the best video game system out there for only 299.99 you cant beat the price.

  • 300 dollars ?!?! i could buy a dvd player for 30 dollars, and we need HDTV to play blu ray, wow and a blu ray movie could go up to 20 dollars while i can find a dvd movie for 6 dollars, you could spend up to 600 dollars for blu ray entertainment while i can spend up 200 dollars for dvd entertainment, but i don't care as long as im watching a movie, and im thankfull for it

  • I agree with you, but I use the digital copy for my iPhone when I am traveling. It beats being bored.

  • This video is 9 months old, so the prices have dropped. You could get the newer version of the Panasonic they were talking about, the DMP-BD60 for $124 on amazon now. And the prices keep dropping. Also for the blu-ray, dvd prices you talked about. You compared a new release blu-ray price, to an old dvd thats been out for a while. Most dvds cost $15-$20, and most Blu-rays cost $20-$25, for new releases. You can find some older Blu-ray movies for around $10.

  • you could buy a ps3 with 300 dollars now

  • it's around 150$ now...

  • I agree with you, Blu Ray is used the majority of the time just because of its price and supposed better quality. I own a PS3 (not for the Blu Ray, but for the games) and wanted to test out the Blu Ray player. I bought the Planet Earth series because that was the most Hi-Definition series yet, and I have to say it is remarkable. Blu Ray is worth buying for only some movies and series, but I don't recommend buying Blu Ray for EVERYTHING.

  • @uchihasasuke1996:

I can definately recommend 2001: A Space Odessy for PQ - especially for such an old film!

  • got a blu ray player hooked up to a sony z4500.... amazing.

  • maybe your TV is a cheap one :D

...go and buy a FullHD from Sony - these rock!

  • blu ray isnt worth it lol...

  • meh...blu ray isn't all that. Every time I see a 'side by side' comparison between BD and DVD the DVD picture looks worse than MY DVD looks. They obviously make the picture look worse on the DVD to get up to think BD is better. One thing BD does have though is it makes it much easier for you to see what is CGI and what isn't. LAME. Beyond that, how clear do we need our movies to be? Seriously, it is that important to see every pore or speck of dirt? NO.

  • Ilona is hoooooooooooooot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The benefits of Blu-Ray decrease a bit the smaller the screen size. While the image quality is of course going to be better regardless, its less noticeable on smaller screens (40" on down) and the farther you sit from the screen. In other words, if you have a 32" 720p and sit eight feet from it, save your money if you already have a good upconverting DVD player. Blu-Ray won't net you much improvement. If you have a 50" 1080p, you'd be crazy not to take advantage of what it can do with Blu.

  • But should I get Blu-rays if I have a PS3 and I want to not get my movies scratched?

  • only if you have an HDTV with the ps3

  • How come every blu-ray image I see looks like they cranked the color and contrast down?

  • i wish that whore would lift up her white skirt

  • i've got a 50inch 1080p viera plasma and i play bluray off my ps3 which is hooked up via hdmi and while there is some difference in picture quality it isnt as in your face and out of this world as people have been talking about so i wish these people would stop talking about it as if they have found a cure for paraplegia or something

  • Same here...I've seen movies on DVD and BD and haven't seen the major difference people scream about. I'm happy with DVD.

  • Do you have an HDTV?

  • well thats only the case if 1) your tv is less than 40", 2) your tv is shit 3) your partially blind.

  • Hmmm, no, you forgot a 4th option...which is the correct one:

    4) BD is overrated and doesn't add ANY needed 'clarity' in the picture. It improves sound somewhat but picture...no...and what 'improvements' it does offer, well, how important is it to see dirt and pores on actors faces? The seperations tend to make the fake looking CG on, say Spider-Man 3 look even more out of place.

So, DVD is still a viable and acceptable format. If you like BD fine but dont say DVD is worthless. It isn't.

  • you say not to say dvd is worthless and yet you are saying the same thing about blu ray. the picture is the biggest improvment in blu ray if it was just the sound people wouldnt feed into it nearly as much as they have. if you dont notice the difference in picture you must be watching it on a tube tv

  • no.

  • @zarathos81 so true

  • lol. you obviously are blind man. or you don't watch it on an hdtv.

blu ray uses H.264 compression, which can make bitrates of 20mbps look sooo much higher. h.264 is some revolutionary. If you watch a standard DVD on an HDTV it looks all pixelated and looks like crap. Blu ray fits it so much.

DVD STILL USES MPEG2, mpeg2 is some old ass compression tech. and it's bitrates don't go much higher than 8mbps.

did i mention that dvds can't even display true 24p!!!!??

  • @zarathos81 Need HDTV

  • Comment removed

  • Blue Ray sucks. Everything they said about Blur ray..it looks lifelike etc....so does DVD or VHS for that matter...???

  • your a dumbshit like really you must be poor or something

  • BD is very over rated. And yeah, DVD is just fine. How clear do you need your movies to be? It's really not that important to me to see every pore or piece of dirt. DVD is all we need.

  • @zarathos81 If you have a good TV, you would be crazy not to.

  • Blu Ray Rocks!!

  • at 2:01..she says if you wanna go with the blu ray whats a good buy...stupid bitch...she´s supposed to say regular dvd with upconversion...there´s no fucking way in her pussy that a blu ray from PIONEER cost 100 dollars...

  • This is why I don't trust the local news. I've only been personally involved in two stories reported, and they have gotten MAJOR facts wrong in both case. One naming the wrong school and putting my name wrong, the other mixing up two completely different people. This video again shows the stark carelessness and low quality of local "news."

  • It actually could be worthwhile to buy a BD player with a standard-definition TV because you will still get a slightly better picture due to the better codecs (AVC and VC-1) and higher bit-rates. The audio can also be much better than a DVD can provide.

  • I agree. The PS3 has a BD player built in and the picture quality of BD on a standard TV is better. Definition doesn't change but the colours are better.

  • @buchanoz You don't have the right hdmi.

  • this video has its facts fixed up
