Its a quote by Muhammad Ali (greatest human ever to live) he refused to join the Vietnam war, so his heavyweight title and boxing license was taking away. So he went to lots of university and at Harvard university he said this POEM "ME, WE"infront of 2000 students. which meant everything i do for "ME" is for "WE"
Doesn't anybody realize that this is a Muhammad Ali quote? Wouldn't it be great if Converse gave him credit? Check out the end of Spike Lee's 'When We Were Kings' for the reference. It's also a lame commercial because you have to sit through something that's so friggin' obvious.
Definitely agree. From our standpoint of people working in advertising (in my country they call us "pubblicitari" -- which inappropriately has the same flavor of "paparazzi", "tifosi", "mafiosi" etc.) and more specifically as a copywriter, I found myself desperately happy to see how the most selfish two-letter word could become a manifesto of purity and lightness in simplicity. Bellissimo.
I think it's ironic that Converse designed this commercial, considering that Converse shoes are the "poster child" for items of clothing that define conformity. I mean, if you actually look at all those "I'm so unique," self-proclaimed rebels, you'll notice one thing for sure: they're all wearing their "I'm-such-a-little-rebel" black Chucks. And Converse still thinks they have the right to critique superficiality?
Why are you guys praising such a waste of airtime? The point is made about a second after the M/W starts moving. It is devoid of any content and makes no original point.
c'mon! the point is more than just the preachy stuff! "Converse". In logic it's the reverse of an argument. Reverse: me/we. It's clever advertising, and a well done commercial.
Isn't it hypocritical, suggesting that there is a fine line between individualism and conformity and then also suggesting "btw u shud buy cons ther punk and u can be too"?
give me a break! not sure if you are serious, but it is obviously about the idea of putting a group (read: a sports team, a community, etc.) ahead of yourself. acting together instead of selfishly.
if you did not understand that then you are really not an intelligent person, sorry.
it's a good commercial. it does exactly what its suppose to do. you watch it and then wonder what the fuck it is for and then you find out and ou talk about it for the next half hour with your friends.

From someone who makes commercials for a living, this is awesome. Pure. Simple. Not some sales pitch that makes you turn the channel. Great stuff.
