  • what year is this jeep? I have a 99 cherokee xj. and I can get the test for gauges to work fine. but i am trying to figure out this obd code thing. I know the computer has history codes in it from a recent check engine light that i did not clear. but i do this and it shows no code after. Also i tried the old key tricks that work for other cherokees and it shows nothing again. Even if no codes its supposed to show a 55. i get nothing.

  • @dmhhs05 Well, mine doesn't displays the code, even if I intentionally create a false code like disconnecting some sensor while the engine is running. I don't know why, but apparently doesn't works on all years. You may retrieve the code with an OBD II compliant scanner.

  • how long do i hold down the button for?

  • Until you insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the Run position.

  • and does my car have to be on or just click b4 starting it?

  • With the engine off, push and hold the odometer reset button. Then insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the Run position, but don't start it. Finally release the odometer reset button.

  • if i do that, will my jeeps computer relearn it's programs? it will not restart my mileage?

  • No, it won't reset the mileage. It only test the gauges functions.

  • I want one

  • How do you do this? Thank you
