  • Cool! This is well done. Is this Shorin?

  • @Yamtendo i think its Shito!? Do You feel the same way?

  • @ekkenaab In the Shito version (at least the one I've seen) the first flying front kick faces the front. In this version, her flying front kick is diagonal. Other than that it does look very Shito-ryu. The more I think about it though, the more I wonder if this is the Shudokan version Toyama used...that's the style I do and the Chinto is a little funky.

  • @aprilniko80

Everyone here is debating which style it is, would you please give the answer? I've been studying/practising Wado Ryu Karate and we do this one quite differently so I'm extremely curious what style this is!

  • The first time I heard of this Kata, I thought, Chin-toe... great kata.

  • I STILL CAN'T FIND THE REAL OKINAWAN STYLE CHINTO KATA...

MOST ARE OF SHOTOKAN AND IT HAS LESS ART BUT IT FOCUS

    ON POWER AND SPEED.

  • wow what karate style is this? it's not wado, is it shito ryu?

  • Ive never seen Chinto end in the opposite direction. But we have to keep in mind that we are not doing Chinto in its original form the way the Chinese pirate taught Matsumura. Matsumura changed it and other masters have changed it. I think it would look something like a southern Shaolin form.....IDK.

  • she is playing with ugly style...

  • I am not sure what Shorin style this is but I have looked at more than twenty Chinto Kata performed on You Tube by men & they are all different form than my Kata, but I must say she looks far better than all them, this is very sad to say how badly people perform & still load these sad videos online.

Great job you get four stars from me, I have given one to everyone elses Chinto.

  • Is this students spacial awarness off or is this version of chinto the only one taught to differ in direction from all other versions. The trun half way through this kata is also reversed in all other forms. Why is this.

  • where you taught in Shorin Ryu to end like she did? or was that Isshin Ryu? Thanks

  • I believe the sound is not in sync to the video.

  • I agree that this chinto is quite different than most known Shorin Ryu styles. However, in all Chinto and many other katas the last technique is done at 90 or 180 degrees in relation with the start. In my opinion the problem here was that after the last technique she went to shizentai position, facing backwards and then and rotated to the starting position. She should, after completing the last technique, rotate to face the right way and then finish the kata in shizentai position

  • is this sped up in places? she did fine, it's just certain parts look lkind of oddly jumpy.

  • Looks like a combo of Shorin ryu and Shotokan's Gankaku

  • One question, why does the kata end with the person's back to the front? Did she miss a move?

  • That's just the way Chinto ends. Every version of Chinto I've seen, I do Isshinryu Karate, has ended with the person facing backwards.

  • That may be so in Isshin ryu, but many of the SHorin ryu versions end with a double knife hand block by turning in neko ashi dachi. Check out the versions listed in the related video sections

  • I do Isshinryu Karate as well, but we end facing the way we started.

  • With an actual technique? Or you just bow and get back into ready position facing the way you started? Because I've never seen someone throw a real technique back toward the way they started after finishing the kata. If you do use a technique, what do you do?

  • Oh, no, no. We throw the last punch, then turn and bow facing the way we started. I misunderstood what you were saying.

  • haha, ok. No problem. I just wanted to know if I was missing something all these years.

  • wow. VERY different from the chinto kata i know! well dont though. excellent kata

  • Pretty good! Congrat on your promotion.

  • My style, Sanshinkai-aiki Karate has a kata also called Chinto. this is similar, but only barely. i can tell it is Chinto, but many movements are different. Very nice kata, though.

If anyone else knows KI members who have channels or upload kata/fighting videos, please message me.

  • The style is NOT chito-ryu

  • This style is Shorin-Ryu. The kata will certainly differ from style to style.

  • Nicely done!

  • This looks like the Matsubayashi-ryu version. Rather different than the one I learned, but very well executed indeed. Congratulations.

  • interesting version of Chinto, I spent a good deal of time on Okinawa, asnd have not seen a version like this, thank you for sharing

  • the style is chito ryu

  • what style is this??

  • Good effort. I like your focus. This kata takes a lot of practise!

  • what style? please add tags with the style of karate.

  • Well done.

  • Well done, you have put a lot work in that kata and it shows

  • Nice performance.. Gambatte Kudasai :)

  • is this Wado Ryu? because if it is, then this is not the chinto i learned

  • ??? didnt she end that kata facing the wrong direction ????

  • Chinto is one of the very few katas where you end up facing the opposite direction. When i was taught this kata it felt weird ending it facing the other way.

  • what style is this? I have not seen it ended facing to the rear either, the last strike to the rear, then a turn facing the start into a guard position is typical. either way, as commented elsewhere in here, you did a fantastic performance.

  • @aprilniko80 Yup, you're right. Kough Sueng Kough is another form where you face opposite in which you started.

  • it was good but it is MUCH different from the one i was taught, some similarities at the beginning but apart from that its very different. that does not change how well the kata was performed, bravo!!!

  • i dont think id want to meet you in a dark alley..

    or do i?? hmmmm (jk)

    well performed!!

  • Nice job. I also test for my 2nd dan in another year. I have to do chinto also... it should be fun :P

I hope to perform it half as strong as that :)

  • i don't think any man would want to mess around with you. you got speed, strenght and good kyas.

p.s you are quite good looking

  • Nice Kata - Good form and timing, and good and strong.

  • nice kata

  • Awesome vid, congrats.
