  • Khalid! Whatever you say! At best Serrada is very personal. Everybody should interpret for themselves. Good to hear from you. Ron

  • When the stick vanishes as in the attacker doing picking suddenly, it is impossible to follow the opponent's stick, so step back and do sweeps strike 11 to 2, and strike 9 to 1, and horizontal sweeps strike 3 to 4, etc. to clear the space in front of you. You can also go LINEAR in your response and aim for the opponent's forearm or wrist as he is doing the picking. Just my opinion, Khalid Khan.

  • Nice......

  • i will pass it along to michael butz... thank you again master ron..

  • Judonoh, Talk to Michael Butz in your AZ area. I like you guys. Get a few guys together. I will bend double for people I like. I would be happy to go your way for a weekend. I will be at the Hilton, Stockton,Ca. and the next day tournament, the weekend of 20/something FEB teaching along with many other Serrada Masters, as well as other Masters. We (Serrada Masters) have hardly got along, and are now coming together after 20 years. Thanx my friend. Ron

  • for training purposes, of course, not in combat... haha

  • great video master ron... it's a wonder to see you in action.. i hope i get a chance to see it in person someday!!!

  • Thanx, for the thanx. These drills are not classical Serrada picking drills. Picking in concert with lock n block was held in extremely high regard by Manong Angel Cabales. I will not show these drills on youtube. They would not be understood and take time to develop, only a very sound Escrimador could safely pick in the heat of battle. This student was merely being introduced to picking and larning how to read a set-up before the strike. Master Ron Saturno

  • Great video, thanks for sharing

  • ...had an intersting conversation about picking. Basically picking is to entice your opponent to commit, and then get hit. It is rat bait. Wave the bait, get them to commit. If they do not take the bait, you are doing complex movements, when they are just hitting. Your trap catches you. You become the rat. Wish we could all just get along...This video is a basic drill. Done correctly, it is poetry.Anyone got rat? Master Ron Saturno

  • If we watch the hands...wecould find ourselves in real trouble. Peripheral vision is much affected at combat range It is safer to learn to watch the movements of the shoulders. Footwork can even be monitored. Centering on the chest is a good beginning. because of tunnel vision (An effect of adrenalin). it was drilled into us by Angel. Ron

  • holy shit this guy is my teacher at franklin high

  • I hope my statements do not offend anyone. I once thought I was the shit when it came to disarms. I think they have their place in the art. When I was younger and dumber I played with live blades. I once tried to disarm a blade, the person pulled and thru either luck or I would like to believe skill (yah, right): I kept my hand from being cut off. I think I pissed my pants My disarms are now trying to knock the persons hand off. No hand/no problem. And this is how I disarm. Master Ron Saturno

  • My friend Lee has made repeated trips to the U.S. from Jolly Old England for at least ten years and consequently has paid an untold amount in money, time commitment and family obligations. How lucky I truly am to have simply showed up and learned from the inestimable Manong Angel Cabales. For an art formaly hidden to non-Filipino's, how times have changed. It is not the race, but the race in the person that counts. Would they all be like you Lee. Sorry I pulled that prank. Master Ron Saturno

  • Master Ron I am happy to see you getting the publicity you deserve. You have kept your knowledge and skill hidden for too long. You are a living treasure!

    Guro Lee

  • If anyone wishes to attempt this training please work the speed up slowly. It is very easy with weapons to hurt your traiining buddy. Please seek out qualified instruction and not attempt these movements without expert instruction. I put this video on for entertainment purposes and if improperly used could easily harm you or your training partner. Sincerely, Ron Saturno

  • excellent quick video.

the tip on watching the shoulder I found very informative. thank you for that!

I have one question if you don't mind; in regards to someone throwing a furry of strikes, do you have any advice as when to try to get in and block/counter?

  • Tidy Sifu!

  • Ai Ai Ai!

    To fast for my eyes..

  • Hey spadaydaga, His youtube name is (Saboy 20). His real name is Lee Gagnon. He has trained in the Bahala na system,Serrada system, Matasa Bagyo system (Master Carlito Bonjoc). He has made the effort to come to the U>S> for 10years to train and is very good at what he does. You can see him here with me suffering. I am a bastard at picking. I would highly recommend him. Sincerely, Master Ron Saturno

  • I would if I lived there, but I live on Long Island, NY. Anybody you can recommend out by my way?

  • Nice. I didn't know there was Serrada in England!
