  • I literally had chills the entire time I was listening to this... WOW

  • I saw this live!! :D

  • Disgusting Offenbach... this is an aborted opera...

  • @Laeliapurpurata umm... he died. Offenbach "aborted" this opera no more than Mozart "aborted" Requiem.

  • I have become a big Kathleen Kim. She will be appearing on the HD broadcast

live to theaters from the Met Opera House in NYC in the opera "Nixon in China"

    on Feb 12th, 2011.

  • @Fegen Wasn't "I am the wife of Mao Tse-Tung" AMAZING!!!

  • I saw this on HD last Christmas Season. The audience here in Finland applauded. It was so good no one knew what else to do.

  • Pretty, but she would be wise to listen to Adele Kern - Tetrazzini to learn how to trill,

a mark of total vocal control

  • amazing

i will never forget her voice

  • I saw her performance on PBS and was blown away by it. Incredible coloratura. "Out of the ballpark" is right.

  • she recently was a solosit in the springfield symphony's performance of Carmina Burana which I was also in. She was amazing. Definatley the best soprano I have ever sung on the same stage with or even heard live. Her high notes were anything but shrill. All of the men in the choir were in love with her lol :)

  • She has avery nice sound through most of her range, and she seems very solid technically. My only criticism is that she sounds kind of thin, and even shrill, on the highest notes. Maybe not so much in this performance, but her Zerbinetta on today's Met radio broadcast sounded really shrill at the top, enough so that it took something away from my enjoyment of her performance. But overall I like her. She's very young, so hopefully she'll get even better.

  • damn. so good. haha.

  • Still can't believe how accurate she is. I've never heard the pitch so perfect in this area.

  • Can't wait to hear her sing Madame Mao at the Met next year.

  • Why no true Video.....does the Met block recording? I can understand if they do....But the opera and specifically this area is so great I wanted to share it with those who didn't get there.

  • The video of the production has not been released. The only other method would be a bootleg which neither the met or youtube would be pleased with.

  • What a fine singer, and she makes it all look easy, even in close-up during the HD transmission (which will repeat Jan 6, a must-see, and I may go again). Those are huge vocal leaps, and she lands them almost flawlessly; I don't think I've heard another recording that I like better. Reportedly her first performances of this role, and she's hit it out of the ballpark.

  • She was amazing! I hope to hear more from her.

  • Yes - she did steal the show yesterday - from a cast of OUTSTANDING singers and actors!

  • I also saw Kathleen Kim, today, 12/19/2009 and agree she literally stole th show: her acting was supurb, and the voice speaks for itself.

  • I just saw Miss Kim sing this part on the HD broadcast today and she stole the show!! She and the entire cast were WONDERFUL!

  • I just saw this!! GORGEOUS!
