  • Well I detest the film personally along with anything Zack Snyder touches, hack.

  • Dark Knight helped reinvent the comic book movie.

Watchmen didn't do shit. It was the same fucking thing you've seen before in The Matrix, V for Vendetta & 300 except it was done poorly in comparison.

If your're going to try to be better then all of those movies, at least try to outdo them!

  • TVLINKSHARE. COM - Watch Movies FREE!

  • I hate useless fucking tabloid videos like these.

It had nothing to do with fucking watchmen.

  • i completely disagree with this. You cant compare these movies/stories to watchmen because they are based on already stablished superhero archetypes with a very linear storyline of good vs. evil. (albeit they are still very good movies.)

Watchmen defies the stereotypical superhero idea in almost every single way in all of its characters, the plot is the opposite of linear, and there is no true villain.

It reinvented the superhero, and it reinvented the superhero movie

  • I love Watchmen, the layers of complexity and the characters are all packed in a compact 2:30 hours bitter sweet noir movie! it's mature than any average superhero film... and i never had the honor to read the graphic novel!

*if your looking for dumb-fuck action retard comic movie~ FUCK YOU!

  • last night I went to watch it, and was good, although it got me a bit confused at the end..

go to vioku. com and watch the full movie

  • You've got to have a certain patience and understanding for literary elements in film. It was a mature film for mature audiences.

  • maybe my memory isnt what it used to be, but wasnt there another superhero movie that came out over 10 years before batman 89?....oh yeah it was Superman

  • agreed, and those batman movies were terrible

  • im sorry ITN but you guys obviously have no idear what your talking about! how can you compare WATCHMEN with XMEN one is good guy vs bad guy story were as the other is a very deep multiplex plot so much going on and asks the question ..what is a superhero? does it reinvent the genre i say yes!!!!

  • You've got that all wrong, Jester18uk, ya see you're basing that last part of your declaration off of movies, which indicates you don't know what you're talking about and don't go on about not having to read the comics. I would go reading it from the Byrne/Claremont era.

  • Hi there in response to your comment i am reffering to the fact that these guys are saying that other superhero movies have tried to make a diffrence in the genre xmen, batman ect yet this video is obviously trying to compare them to watchmen and if you read the reviews saying how accurate of an adaption this film is to the novel then it is almost a certainty it will do the job on making people think in alternative ways regarding superheros (hence reinvent the genre). my opinion anyway..peace

  • I think it's easier for someone to an accurate adaptation of The Watchmen than X-men since the The Watchmen was done once. Marvel has reset it's stuff several times. It's early incarnations of The X-Men showed them off as a bunch of good guys, Wolverine is the only one that's got some grit to him.

Spider-Man did make a difference in the genre of comic books, the movie just showed how successful graphic novel adaptations can be.

  • i love x-men and spiderman and all the rest, but let's just face it. watchmen is really in a league of it's own here. it's hard for me to compare it to other comic book series just because it feels and is so much deeper than that, so much richer than the rest somehow. watchmen isn't trying to redefine anything. it's just being it's completely original self and that's why i respect it so much

  • The ignorance shown in this clip is staggering.

  • Agreed.

  • what!? jack nicholson? what happend to dark knight, the heath ledger as joker? classic villain.

  • he was talking from a perspective of the movies that actually changed the way we looked at a particular story. until 1989 or 90..whenever batman came out with keaton and nicholson, batman was campy and rather goofy, comedic even. but when that movie was released, it was the total flipside of what people knew of batman from the original movie and tv series. that tim burton film paved the way for the the more recent reboot.

  • Movies based on comic books are awesome... I can't wait for the Green Hornet to come out! If you like movies like this then you should check out Michel Gondry's "TOKYO!"

  • The only recent films that'd I'd say "re-invented" anything were Batman Begins + The Dark Knight.

Rest (spiderman, hulk, x-men) were just family or teenager movies.

Watchmen is rated R, and if it's half what the book is it will kick as much ass as the Dark Knight, in my opinion.

  • Excuse me, but I'm wondering why the recent batmans, or hell, batman and robin (that is a classic example of the pitfalls of cinema heroes) and the fact that superman wasn't mentioned at all - What the hell! I don't see how the Hulk or Spiderman 'shook up' the on screen genre in any way - the fact is movie makers now rely on comics to attempt to create a blockbuster, but they usually end up with complete failures. Here's hoping watchmen will show them how comic movies should be made!

  • *sigh* there's a difference between comic book (serial) vs. graphic novel (often one-shots)

    these journalists are tools

Oh yeah and Watchmen rulez. Alan Moore is a god among writers.

  • RE INVENTED THE super hero MOVIE? . .. .. . RE INVENTED Super Heroes ! ( as the man would say) nuff said!

  • No love for the movies that started it all?

    Superman? 1970's? Hello?

  • funny he didnt mention dark knight? crap reviewer

  • What a stupid video...This idiot doesn't know ANYTHING about Watchmen... How about you watch the movie and/or read the comic, and then make an opinion of whether or not it can or has "reinvented" the genre...but don't make assumptions about this and that when it's clear that you are not informed or have any knowledge of watchmen. This is terrible journalism.

batman 89 is awesome, but are they seriously comparing this to ang lee's Hulk and Fox's x-men...come on!!!

  • not one of those movies reinvented anything

all they did was prove that comic book movies could make money...except for ang lees hulk, which was an awful mess

watchmen is not claiming to reinvent the comic book movie...it is just claiming that viewers will look differently at the genre after watching it

  • What a ridicolous video. These guys obviously don't know the story of Watchmen. The GN is ALREADY a reinvention of the genre.

  • yo know what 'comic book' movie really shook things up? Sin City.

the comic book movie doesnt need a renaissance; it's already had it. just some people like to cling to the old formula.

  • yeah sincity is the most accurate comic film to date ,i was looking foward to watchmen untill i found out the most important scene in the movie is missing (i dont mean dr manhattans dinkle )so i have some serious dobts about this film ,and snyder has already wrecked one of my favourite films with his pointless dawn of the dead remake ,i just dont want him wrecking my second favourite comic aswell

  • sin city showed that a comic book could be directly translated to the screen

but it wasnt a great film...just a great experiment

  • Sin City wasn't a great film? WHAT? Are you on crack? The movie was better than great, it was f**kin' PERFECT

  • far from perfect

that yellow bastard worked much better as a serialized story, where one had to wait a month between chapters, so the buildup to who the yellow bastard really was worked much better

the section that worked the best was marv....mostly because of rourke

  • i agree with you. the movie wasn't perfect, but it's very enjoyable. i was hugely entertained by it and i really did enjoy the marv storyline alot, but i enjoyed the others as well. i'd never read the graphic novel before watching the film, so i was just able to accept the film for what it was. still a very good watch, you must say

  • i didnt say that i didnt enjoy it...i thought it was a brilliant experiment

but "that yellow bastard" was written to be episodic, and it plays out much better when spread over months...not minutes

the worst thing that came out of that movie, is that miller fancied himself a director, which led him to totally trash the spirit...for that, i can never forgive him

  • yeah i see what you mean. i agree with you about the yellow bastard part of the story. i felt like in a way, it was rushed.

i haven't seen the spirit but i didn't hear anything good about it lol. the spirit is another one i didn't hear about until the movie was coming out so i know very little about it. we'll see how that makes me feel when i do see the movie

  • I dont know... to me, the trailer for this movie suggests it might be a spectacular flop. Time will tell.

  • It won't flop, but that doesn't mean it'll be good.
