  • i know my questions are many , but im sure this will be my last , because i have everything else. I cant find a psone PAL screen so i found a zenith screen it has the same specs , if it comes with a composite analog conector , will it be ok?

  • Yes, should be fine.

  • i have power to both the screen and the n64, i have the screen composite connected and it still wont work with the n64, but it will work with a ps1.... the n64 has been tested on another screen and it does work can anyone help?

  • You need to join my forum! ;o)

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA link? so did i not ground it right?

  • how do you power the screen if you use composite

  • Wait, do I need to get a PAL screen? I live in US so idk how I would get one.

  • ebay or amazon. Get an NTSC screen as you need that with an NTSC console.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Alright, thanks! I was planning to thoroughly follow these videos, so would that be a problem if I'm working with stuff from a different region?

  • substitulos en español porfavor.no entiendo un carajo.gracias

  • 3:35 I was wondering how can you write on an youtube video!

  • Moddedbybacteria can u use any screen

  • Ones that can input composite, yes; although different screens can use different voltages and be different thicknesses.

  • is it better to do rgb or composite?

  • RGB is always better as the image quality is crisper and the colours are more accurate.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA is it possible to RGB mod a north american n64

  • Some models you can, yes, others not.

  • hey can you help me. l wired the composite from my screen and I could tell that it was receiving the signal from my n64. the audio was fine, but the only issue is that the screen is fuzzy(it's sort of hard to describe it) so would you know what l should do?

  • Yes indeed - register on my forum, post your problem and pics/video of the issue and we can take it from there!

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA done it's called n64 screen is blurazzy(or something like that)

  • Composite quality in games can be perfectly fine and sometimes you'd be pressed to see improvement with RGB; however on some systems you get bad colour bleeding or bad colour representation from composite whereas comes out georgeous on RGB. RGB is always better, from a minor to major improvement over composite - if just improving the sharpness of the image, minor; if improving the colour range, major.

  • I have lost the solder from the positive contacts of both of my speakers. I have tried flux and it's not working out. Are there any other places on the ps1 board that I can use? Please respond

  • Yes indeed, I have pics on my forum (have you registered there yet ;o) ?) somewhere on that, also on my website if you look in the screen section, one of the PDF files shows where you connect to the capacitors/chips directly to for the audio input...

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA THANK YOU SO MUCH! The speakers work fantastic! I looked on your website and followed the instructions exactly and the result was fanfreakentastic!

  • No problem! Always pleased to help out - have you registered on my forum yet - interested to see your work log and pics of your system. moddedbybacteria. freeforums. org/index. php

  • can you use a gameboy advance or so screen on the or what because i have a better access to those than i do psone screens

  • No, they don't have composite input let alone S-video or RGB

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Gameboy Color Neither?

  • No video input, no use.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA how much psone lcd's you have?for any video you use a psone lcd.

  • I have a few.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Hi!I make a chip transplat between 3 psone (the second is used for test of ic102 chip with main menu)and make a casemod of the third psone with ac/dc and green and some blue :D

  • @SonyQrio what you could alwas do is check on craigslist

  • I need an Official Sony PSOne screen for my N64p. I only wish to pay $30 for it though! Help!

  • Cheap skate!

Oh, I only want to pay $1.... lol

  • Hahaha, I am new to making portables, so I don't know how much these things cost. I have a very limited budget! >_< lol Thanks anyway!

  • Thanks

  • the ntsc ps1 screen work with n64 pal?

  • Nope. Using a PAL screen on a PAL console. The PSone screens take either NTSC or PAL signals depending on the screen you have.

  • can you use a gamecube screen instead?

  • Yes, but from what I hear, not as good screens on image quality...

  • I think I saw this question already somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Will a PAL N64 work with a NTSC screen?

  • No. PAL N64's are only composite, unless you have a French or Australian one, which can be RGB modded.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA So if I RGB modded my Australian N64 board, it would work with a Zenith xBox screen (the US$43 (I think) off ebay one everyone talks about on benheck and modretro)?

  • I think you'll find that the screen you are talking about is the PSone screen that was slapped into a different case, maybe.

Frankly, the N64 is fine on composite. If you RGB mod your Australian N64 it should do RGB, yes, although you might need to build a video amp to make the image as good as you need, as I recall.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA The only reason I was asking about an NTSC screen is because I cannot find PAL psone screens anywhere.

    Thanks [once again] for helping!

  • I have a couple for sale, PM me on my forum if you need one.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Awesome!! Thanks, I'll do that as soon as I get a job so I can work on my portable!

    Keep up the great work!

  • can we only use one of the colors you highlighted? because you used, i think, composite on the capcom game. what should i use on the N64?

  • The PSone screen can take composite and RGB fine. If you have an NTSC N64 or a PAL one from France or Australia you can mod them to take RGB, however, considering how good the composite image is on the PSone screen, makes sense to stay with composite. The SNES too is very good on composite, however many other consoles look bad on composite so if you can RGB mod them, far better to do so.

  • ok because i just got it in the mail and i dont know what to do with it. Now i just need a tutorial on soldering. Do you know any good tutorials? because my solder always sticks to the tip. It is very annoying. the only solder i have is the solder that came with the soldering iron. i didnt actaully know that it was solder untill i read the directions.

  • There are many great tutorials on the net about soldering - look on YouTube and also Google for soldering methods. I did, was very useful.

  • now the battery on the ps1 screen do u need it for the ps1 screen to work? cuz i need to cut it off for it to fit inside my case.

  • Don't understand the question, please feel free to repost it.

If you have no space for batteries inside your case, use a mains adaptor, mains > 7.4v DC - eg like the mains plug that came with your PSone screen/PSone console.

  • hey i want to convert this screen and put an rca conection also do you think is possible to change the 5 volt conection to one of the common ones? please help mee

  • You can mod a PSone screen for A/V easily by connecting the sheathed internal wire of the yellow (composite) plug to the composite on the PSone screen, and the sheathed wires from the red and white audio to the audio (composite audio connections) connections; the bare wires between the middle sheath wire and the outer sheath - the bare wires - connect all to ground. Also, connect the three headphone pins together for the external audio to work (see my diagram). Keep the 5v > pin 12 as is.

  • IDE wire works fine.

  • Could I use IDE cable wire, to connect my PSone screen to my Dreamcast?

  • Probably, but better off with better quality wire than IDE

  • What wire would you recommend? 24 awg?

  • General purpose 0.9mm flexible wiring is fine for the PSone screen and for relocation of the DreamCast boards (ie low power needs of PSone screen and also data lines for DC relocation), however for power you need 3 amp wire - don't consider using thin wire for that, the DC takes a lot of power to run.

  • The PSone screen is 4:3 aspect ratio and the screen image is very good. Some people use 3.5" screens for modding, however those are rather small. For a portable device, 7" or 8" is lovely, however 5" is fine for a handheld portable.

  • Another great video.

    5 star

  • Crakizgod- those display in widescreen(16:9) and most all n64 games run in 4:3. 5 in is the largest standard size that keeps a 4:3 aspect ratio. The only game i know that can do 16:9 on the n64 is donkey kong 64. Otherwise, the games would be stretched or be in a letterbox with the sides cut off. Theres a reason for using this screen.

  • too small 7-10 would be good

  • @CRAKIZGOOD First, that's called pillar box, not letterbox. Second, quite a few other games for the 64, including Banjo-Tooie display in Widescreen.

  • well i didnt say anything about 16:9

im just saying 5 seems a bit too small for "me"
