Get Me To The World On Time - The Electric Prunes [Los Angeles, California] - No.27 on 4/22/1967. 5 weeks Top 40 - "BETTER SOUNDING then Nuggets version." -Lost Dreams (Birdman)-2000.
Okay, first off. the Prunes got nothing of on Doors. the Doors are on a completely different level but the Prunes did contribute to the psychedelic music and proto punk. But really if your gonna go off on your tangents about whose bettter, the answer is Love. With out Love there would be no Doors, so respect. Check them out, they are the real inventors of punk.

FOR .....Why does everybodu always thins that those days, when there was good music invalved, that they took drugs??????????????????????Doors OK,Jim whas a cofussed person, and i think that sometimes he run over himself, what made him more and more confused about what he was doing. He was gone then and sure now.But the Doors also started out whit smooth stuff trying to make the charts and what about Pink Floyd????
if there is a band in the world that deserves the term "underrated", it's the Prunes. this is great psychedelia and proto-proto punk! their first two albums are amazing.
Tommy Smothers looked like Mr Rogers! I liked the intro actually. Easy to take and cute n clever... The Acid culture needed and still needs more light-heartedness
@Efrasnel I know the drummer on this video and on the "Mike Douglas Show" too. He was the original drummer, Preston Ritter. He hated the lead singer and wasn't into drugs or the Sunset Strip scene. He quit the band during or after the "Mass..." He did lots of studio work after this. He was sixteen when "I Had Too Much To Dream" hit. He had a couple of books published about drumming. He was a fantastic drummer.
Forgot all about the v neck sweater and turtle neck dickey underneath look. Pleases the parents and reassures the kids. And for all those
for those going on and on about Jim Morrison's poems. Please read T.S.Elliot, John Ashbury, Robert Creely, Ezra Pound, Seamus Heaney, and of course William Blake, Then report back to class. The still sea will still be uninspired.
Morrison meant his poetry to be embarrassing to all those uptight asses, but musically, he was headed towards Blues. Only 27 when he died, with a genius IQ, he was a voracious reader of philosophy, poetry and so much more. If he had lived his poetry would have evolved & matured, just like he would have. To say his poetry or their music is only for troubled 16 yr olds is showing your own ignorance. You are clueless my friend. The Doors & JM and their music will rock forever!!!
Wait a minute, moron. Are you talkingg about Jim Morrison of the Doors? First of all he was a great poet. Did his lyrics sometime confuse and confound? Yes. Were they perfect? Maybe not.. But he was gifted. He may have also of had one of the greatestest vioices of all time.
I'm a fan of both groups, who watched them numerous times on the strip. LOVE was the house-band at the Whiskey a go go! When they left, Jim Morrison and the DOORS, took their place, as house-band. The rest is history!
No research needed... I was there!
My intent was to inform, in case you hadn't heard? However, apparently, you have persecution issues?
As for Sky... he passed on June 25th. You posted a day or two after that. Did your tickets say "Sky will miss the concert, due to his untimely demise?"
Not a KISS fan, so Simmons is the only member to me, of any recallable celebrity. Peter Criss, is not recognizable to me. So, my reading was adequate... my comprehension, as you would prefer, was deficient.
Since few people have even heard of Arthur Lee, much less LOVE... "Obvious is a stretch!
Since I knew of Lee and his passing, it's obvious to me. But to others, it wouldn't be.
Consider the use of "Remaining" members, for better clarification.
Look man, I like them and I love the Doors; there's no way you can sustain they were the tops. Try to think of Manzarek's keyboards and Morrison's poetry, these 2 genial ingredients are nowhere to be seen, unfortunately, in the Electric Prunes!!!
The Smothers Brothers show always had these crap intros. Check out the Who on this show. The Prunes however are one of the greatest american bands ever and have influenced hundreds of bands. Do your homework suckers.
I'm sorry, but try comparing these guys to the doors -- another psychedelic band. The Doors have way more depth. These guys are a little interesting though.
oh God...if by depth you mean sickeningly pretentious lyrics- then agreed! Sure the prunes suffered from overbearing management, but they will always be way, way cooler than The Doors- unless you're a 'troubled' 16 year old

guyglowmore1 1 year ago
@guyglowmore1 : Probably in the "fake" Prunes, the ones that made those religious albums. Or else an early line-up.
Efrasnel 1 year ago
Actually the "real" Electric Prunes did the first religious album. Both of which are horribly overlooked, in my opinion.
Syntox 1 year ago
@Syntox I checked the Allmusic Guide and it doesn't mention James Lowe or any of the others..Somewhere a mistake has been made then.
Efrasnel 1 year ago
@Efrasnel - that's strange...Kyrie Eleison I'm almost one
hundred precent certain is the orignal band, and
I recall an interview with David Axelrod where
he discussed the difficulty he had working
with the original band 'cause they weren't used
to playing in this style...interesting. I don't
claim to be all knowing on the subject though!

yeah that's pretty obvious.
It was the remaining members from Love under a new project...it was scheduled to start this week i think..
but then Sky died. do some research before you try and correct someone who already tickets.
PeterCRissKISSgod 2 years ago
Perhaps, you should stick to your Gene Simmons obsession?
"Obvious" ...to who?
You didn't say... remaining members of LOVE... you said "Original" members. (There is no original LOVE without Arthur Lee.)
You need to understand content and context, when you post. And not immediately assume that you are being corrected.
