Well there was no real guarantee that it would work as the crew had no real proof it would. Besides something good did ultimately come out of it, a group of ex-borg got to live their lives free of the collective somewhere as individuals. Besides the main thing with this episode is that Picard learns not to let his hatred of the Borg stop him from seeing that Hugh has become an individual and not to prejudge him. People seem to miss that when they focus too much on the computer virus thing.

Later, the Enterprise stayed in some sort of field that would cloak their presence to the Borg sensors, but they said that within ear range of Hugh. When he was re-connected with the Borg, they would know Enterprise would be there and where it would be. Also, I don't believe they would be so naive as to see Geordi and not wonder why was a human with no food or supplies so far from any human vessel: they would search it.

Aside from that, nice episode.
