Tix went on sale today for Machinations reunion Friday February 24, 2012, at the Bridge Hotel, Rozelle (Sydney). Available via Moshtix (moshtix.com.au) and the venue (02 9810 1260). This is a reasonably intimate venue so if you wanna go you need to move - there is no tour, this is it. The lineup is Fred Loneragan (vocals), Tim Doyle (guitar), Tony Starr (synthesizers), Nero Swan (bass) and John Mackay (drums). First headline show in 23 years.
Thank you. Love this song so much. I misplaced my 7'' single of this years ago and regret its loss. This song always spoke to me so intimately then and now.
@MastaGangstaKilla I noticed you posted on the other version as well, which version do you like the best. I think the one by posted by xxxclaudexxx is the better mix imo.
I remember seeing Machinations at a gig down at The Rocks and a bloke I knew put a bottle into the head of some poor harmless kid, leaving him permanently scarred. Machinations were nice people who did not surround themselves with violence but they had a sound that attracted hard core punks as well, which led to this unfortunate night.
Onya nzoz - this is what utube is all about .... another one from the memory bank ... recording JJJ on my old tape recorder while pretending to do homework!
Oh yeah!!! We walked the same path. Nothing better than going to school thee next day with gems like this you'd taped the night before and sitting around and marvelling. this band was GREAT live.
Still have their album and singles -saw them live many times and interviewed them for RAM magazine. One of Australia's best electro-pop bands, but jthey just never could get the airplay apart from Triple Jay. First EP is brilliant.
i wish they did a best of,i would almost pay any thing for it,great stuff, and well done.Seen them many of time around when i was a young whippersnapper.
I'v looked everywhere to try and get these on with a decent bit rate or a still playable vinyl - anyone know which record company owns the rights to their back catalog? There are a lot of Sydney bands with their sound atm
Machinations released their first album on Phantom Records and also their next single, being Average Inadequacy/Arabia. You can buy this on CD on the internet from Almacantar Records, who have released it on CD.
Fantastic, thanks for posting this song. I have been checking out youtube for months in the hope someone would post the clip for Average Inadequacy. Took me back 25 years to what was easily the greatest period for live bands in Sydney. Does anyone out there have the clip for Arabia, which I think was the B side to the single.
Sensational, couldn't believe I found this gemm. Along with My Heart's On Fire this is the best Machination's single, absolutely adore it. It's got the real ealry 80's Australian post punk meets electronic dance rhythm and great experimental feel. So underated, their magnificent. LOVE the gals dancing, they look breathtaking. Australia had a great fashion scene back then, wonder if these girls were dressed by Katie Pye or Melbourne Fashion Council. Gay kiss featured to, Truly wonderful, thanks!*
shop they may have gone to was :Love and Hatred" in Sydney(King Street) owned by John and Michaela i know Mental As Anything used it too :) and me of course

I love this song. I have the 7" of it and only recently copied it to a digital format. I didn't know there was 2 versions. I like the 7" better!
I remember seeing Fred Loneragan all plastered up (body and neck) after he had his bicycle accident (I think it was).

Strangely enough Triple M of all stations has been playing "No Say In It" a bit over the last few years - that's how I found out about this band.
