  • im not a drummer but by the sound i think you got too much symbols and not enough variation to sound like keith..

  • God bless ya man. Speaking as a Bassist(with Rickenbacker to boot), it would be a blast to play along with you *cue "So Sad About Us" here* :). Congrats on that kit, it's killer. Is it too late to try and get your hands on a "Pictures Of Lily" kit?.

  • NEXT: Ian Paste type solo?

  • nice playing man

  • Great tibute to Moonie. What is the shells made of on your kit?

  • damn dude, your just as good as moon when he was drunk!!! very nice:)))

  • Love it!

  • Wow!

  • very awesome drumming! i dont think i would ever be able to get to that level...but any tips?

  • Keith Moon would be proud

  • Well done, beautiful drum kit and very Keith Moon ish type of drumming, great job.

  • Moon-y as fuck!

  • Get yer ass into a decent band mate ffs.

    Nuff said.

    you is a good drummer.

  • Nice kit bud. Sounds great. I just don't see why you have to make a look alike keith moon solo. Just do your own thing, would've been much better.

  • WICKED STUFF!!!

  • Fucking amazing kit. I am super jealous. Did you compile it on your own?

Also, I'm am SUPER critical of Moonie drummers as I am one, but I actually really liked your video. Pretty good playing, and I could definitely hear some Moonie hints in there.

  • Forget all the negative remarks, I love the kit and you are an awesome drummer. Thanks for posting!

  • Eccentric haha but I like it :) It's very good, I know fast and somewhat rushed, but I do like it :) keep it up :D

  • 2 bumbos?

  • esse cara tava com uma suvaqueira

  • sick dude babbyschambler is the best tho....

  • I want a kit like that. I have a Premier Signia which is the best kit I've ever owned, but it would be awesome to have a vintage looking double bass chrome kit with shallow toms like that. Your solo was good, too. Early on I thought it was gonna be kind of a joke, but you definitely show more skills the longer it goes on. Nice work.

  • Sounds like the random outbursts in "Cobwebs and Strange". Nice job.

  • sweet set up dude. i love that stainless keith set. sounds nice too.

  • That. Was. Awesome. :O

  • That kit is BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • IMPRESSIVE

  • awesome, check out my premier, projector 8-)

  • nice kit,,,,,,3X14''?..............

  • your fucking god at drums id join a band with you any day

  • Love it man! Cheers and keep doing what you do. Not everyone has to be a fucking click track wanker. To who ever it was that commented where are your hats? Moonie very rarely played hats. There are several live performances on here that prove that...MD

  • love ur style bitch!

  • wheres hihats?

  • Glorious !

  • cheers , great kit, very cool that you are on tube, and thanks for the vids, keep Rocking, regards from the U.S.A.

  • hey, great solo, beautiful kit, im kinda new to drumming myself so im just wondering, wheres your high hat? or did moon not use one?

  • Love it !!

  • how much was that. i wanna buy one!

  • First 30 seconds sounds like Moonie's solo from "Cobwebs and Strange".

  • The start sounded like keith moon but the ending half sounded like john bonham playing moby dick

  • Nice drumming mate........that left foot lead technique of Keith's will never be replicated though! No one has ever, or will ever get that one.Love your video & watched it many times. Thanks.

  • i enjoyed the crazy camera work near the end and of course the drum solo. ;)

  • SWEEEET KIT!!!!!! I have had close to 50 different kits and about 9 were premeir. always wanted to build a moonie-type kit. was going for the white set with 2 rows of toms. the ONLY part of this vid I would give a "thumbs down" is the zildjunk. moon & palmer are the reason im a HARDCORE pAisTe freak...Loved the 1 stick triplets, that's a great "muck around"

  • @MRCJCOLLINS The white kit will be my next project! To be honest moonie used both Paiste and Zildjians all throughout his career, the trouble is with the Paiste 602s moonie used is that they break easily, it would be ok if I had the Money Moonie had! The Zildjians I currently have are not really what I want, but having just brought a house I cannot afford to buy any new cymbals at present. Cheers for the comment my friend :-)

  • @MRCJCOLLINS Keith played "Zildjunk" in addition to Paiste. Tell me I'm wrong. Why are Zildjians junk? They're one of the oldest companies in the world. Oh, I see that you've been told exactly what the deal was Keith and his cymbals. You're a follower.

  • fantastic the bass drum fills with one stick were awesome - that kit is delicious

  • wow man, u kinda suck, and you look like a fucking fool....try some jazz type licks or even triplets ya chode!!

  • Nice drums!!!

  • Fuckin' Love it mate!!!! never mind these arseholes like OBAMAJUSTSAYNO (he must've been up all night thinkin' that one up!) Your technique and humour - I love it when your mate comes out from behind the kit! - are definitely in the tradition of The Right Honourable Mr Keith Moon! VC and 3 bars! (The Rose & Crown, The Lion's Head and The Half Moon, Putney!)

  • Thanks for the laugh! This is what happens when no talent kids have rich parents!!

  • @OBAMAJUSTSAYNO HAHA! Your so funny. God my ribs hurt. Someone get this guy on TV.

And what makes you think I have rich parents???

  • @sgtcrag I cannot believe a 44 year old goes around on you tube like a malicious child, writing such pointless imature things. If its all the same with you I'll go with the opinions of those who watch me, just a few thousand a year, who love what I do, and pay me well to do such. And of the other nice comments on here.

Oh and by the way my parents are not rich, its called HAVING A JOB. I suggest you get one if you want the things in life you desire. Peace dear boy.

  • @sgtcrag hey....don't worry about the criticism...Moon had plenty of critics also......even if your parent's are rich and bought u the drums, SO What!!!...

  • @sgtcrag your butler at 1:04

  • could use some goldfish though

  • o dayum

  • Booooooahhhhh !!!!!!! Wooooow !!!!!!!!!!

  • Which drumheads are those? pinstripe in one tom, and in the others?

  • fake.

  • Fair play to you mate, nice playing and what a kit!!! I have a premier elite that I bought for £80 unused ten years ago with original labels hanging from the lugs, but its only a three piece , anyway those old elite kits have a great open sound.

  • @celladorametal666

Since when did Keith Moon use a hi-hat? :P

  • Lose the faux hawk and UFC t-shirt and you're on to something...

  • for mucking around thats damn good, hahaha

  • sincerely one of the best drummers ive ever seen on youtube, and im talking seriously ive seen LOOTS of videos here on youtube, you rock man i love your Premier kit!

  • @ellioteaston93 Cheers dude!!

  • @ellioteaston93 i agree but hes missing the top hat so he cant play a lot of parts in a lot of songs

  • @ellioteaston93 Check out the "Pictures of Lily" guy playing Keith's kit from that era-he smokes this guy. I saw Keith perform several times w/ The Who, and I know what I'm talking about.

  • no hi hat! Love it!

  • drugs....ª_º

  • btw which premier kit is this and how much did you payed for it ? ben looking everywhere to find an old school premier kit

  • @Korph88 It is a premier Elite kit, you wont find this kit anywhere as seen in the video. Ebay is the place to source the parts, you need to 22" X 14" bass drums, 3 14" X 8" toms (not easy to find as they havent made them for years, asides from the Pic of Lily re-issue kit) 2 16" X 18" floor toms (mine are 16" X 16" as the 18"'s are hard to find) basically all of that then get the old rogers sviv-o-matic tom holders, also ebay findable. I paid around £1200 for everything, including chrome wrap.

  • @sgtcrag i see the sound is superb i must say, ty for the reply mate and real nice drumming btw :]

  • ahhhhh i turin over in my grave...........

  • @whokeithmoon You "Turin" in your grave?? Must be a new word for special people. I look forward to seeing a video of you playing very soon. You must be amazing.

  • @sgtcrag amazing is not the word i came outa the cunt playin...

  • @sgtcrag no you wont....because apparently he is dead...idiot meant to say im turnin over in my grave..which makes no sense anyway..ha, great job man though nice work

  • Nice solo, though no way in comparison to Keith dude.....

  • I clicked on this expecting another piss taking idiot but man............ the was fucking awesome!

  • Man, I really enjoyed that. Idiots saying you can't keep ryhthm have obviously never really listened to moonie. Even on the album of Tommy his drumming goes in and out of time, that was part of the buzz with him, he wasn't a trained drummer, just someone who had a talent. I've been playing over 20 years and moonie has always been my hero so anyone who likes to bash around on a kit like him is ok by me!

  • I know you're just having fun and I'm right with you. That set is beautiful.

  • quality drumming....i love it

  • There's a few fools making comments below that just don't get it. They either have no understanding of what drumming is really about (fun) or have their heads shoved too far up their drumming butts. There isn't a drummer that hasn't bashed away to Moon, Bonham, Grohl or even Travis or whoever else they enjoy listening to. Nice bit of work and I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • @antoniosmithio Cheers dude, I dont mind the negative comments, they are just kids hiding behind the internet to make themselves feel good because their everyday lives are so pointless. Makes me laugh that all the negative comments on You Tube come from those who have no videos of themselves playing?? Maybe because they cant!! Cheers again dude, glad you enjoyed :-)

  • Very NIce Kit, Decent solo as well, these people criticising seem to be up there own arses :)

  • Very NIce Kit, Decent solo as well, these people criticising seem to be up there own arses :)

  • no hi hats?

  • @Freeki12 the loon rarely used them!

  • put the other floor tom on the other side!!

  • nice

  • you cant even keep your rhythm, i dought who roadies have compared you to keith.. a real drummer would have had an extra pair of stick near him.. you fail soo much i feel like deleting my you tube account....

  • @TheJerkmaster5000 If I have succeded in one thing it is getting people like you off You Tube, no doubt it will be a better place without you. You can say what you like, I have never said Who roadies compared me to Keith, why do you have to lie to make a comment?? Yes they have seen me, yes they liked it. It always makes me laugh the people who make negative comments never have videos up of themselves playing, I wonder why?? Oh your name makes makes perfect sence. Good day to you dear boy.

  • You are kidding, right? Where do you get the nerve to even mention you and Keith Moon in the same sentence? Asshole.

  • no one especially you will ever be able to replicate keith moons amazing-ness or even "be like" keith moon, your fruity mohawk doesn't make you good enough and that was a garbage solo, moon didn't believe in solos, you fail.

  • Premier......ACCEPT NO IMITATORS! this is the solo from "DOGS" yes?

  • The ride on your left, is that the Zildjian A 21" Sweet Ride?

  • those resonant heads have holes in them? Far out.

  • not at all like keith the loon moon

  • @MrSnuggs18 No I know, and I have said it is like Keith, please re-read the description. Although I shall take the opinion of Keiths friends and Who roadies that have said otherwise after seeing me live. I think I'll take their word for it. Thanks anyway.

  • @MrSnuggs18 yeah...keith did have a certain rythm...but id hope you still see this guys a pretty damn good drummer lol, great solo dude

  • no no no, if your going to try to copy me, you have to get into a groove, its all about feeling, its like no other drummer, ever, its not bonzo, peart, ect. its all from the heart and 100 miles an hour every note. now try it again and ill be back...and stop with the forced dumb faces

  • you are playing without bottom heads on your toms ?

  • @Korph88 No there are bottom heads on, they are clear heads though!

  • i love your five toms! haha thats a cool kit but if you were in a band you'd probably want a hi-hat

  • @ABurr333 I do use my hi-hats in my other bands! Just not the Who Tribute one, unless we do a full Quadrophenia set.

  • no hat?? nice kit tho!!

  • Great solo! Your solo definitely reminds me Of Keith, as well as some Mitch Mitchell.

2 of my favorite drummers of all time! :)

    Great job!!!

  • @infinitedestroyer902 aahhhh. better listen again

  • Well done!

  • Where are the horse tranquillisers when you need them?

  • excellent. That was fantastic.

    that kit is SO SHINEY!

  • sounds a load like keith

  • thats not showing off, or being stupoid

thats just entertainment, i'd love to jam with a drummer as immense as this =D

  • Cool stuff, even the nice drumroll at the end!I'm glad you payed hommage to Keith Moon! His solos were breathtaking. Thanks for sharing!Brainy, brainman Media

  • great job dude

  • Where are your high-hats?

  • @TheBLOODLINEmusic At home! Not used for Who tribute gigs (unless a Quad set is required!)

  • @sgtcrag Why not, Keith used them?

  • @TemmiStudios Keith used them live up until about 67 (the Pictures of Lily kit) he didnt use them live again (on the chrome kit or the single row toms black kit, isle of wight, tanglewood) until 1973 when Quadrophenia was played live, this was the black kit with the double row of toms. We go for the Live at Leeds look and Keith did not have them on stage. Yes he used them on every studio album, but not much on stage. I do have the lok-fast hi-hat stand ready if needed!

  • @sgtcrag Sounds right ;)

  • @TheBLOODLINEmusic Keith Moon never used high-hats, only during records

  • The camera man sucks, other than that OUTSTANDING DUDE

  • cool!

  • nice drums. super classic

  • @KurtCantrell Oooh stop it your hurting my feelings.

  • Beautiful kit mate - and well done for giving it some welly!

  • that set sounds amazing.

  • It is exhausting to play like that isn't? I have a dual bass drum kit and I do play a lot of who stuff, and I must say that it is extremely exhausting to play the way keith did.. both basses going at the same time with massive rolls across the toms and cymbals.. I mean wow. You did great.

  • @tonymontana1229 Thanks man, much appreciated! It is exhuasting playing a three hour gig I will say!!

  • This is a great solo! I loved the closing tom roll too! Can you do a longer Tom Tom Roll! I liked when when the camera pans around the kit zooming in on the bass drum logo, etc.I give it a Ten!Thanks for this classic!Brainy,Brainman Media

  • I think you captured the essence of Moonie just right and all these other cunts can go fuck their Grandmothers up the arse.

  • @Johnniehaha LOL! Thanks :)

  • Didnt sound bad at all in my opinion. Just keep it up!

  • Awesome....loved the drumming, definitly see the Moonie influance!

  • Why do you idiots come on here saying, "you cant be Keith Moon" or "if you think you sound like keith moon you need your ears a tunin"

SHUT UP..read my description, if you can quote me one little bit saying I think I am as good as Keith, or that I sound like Keith then fine, but I dont. If you dont like go away and let others enjoy. And I notice all the negative comments come from those who suprisingly enough have no videos of them selves drumming..strange eh?? Because they can't thats why!

  • you could never be keith moon sorry

  • @Kriegler1234 Did I ever say I could??

  • Beautiful drums... but why for the life of me would you want swiv-o-matics? I have only ever used them once before and the damn thing nearly fell apart. I think I'll stick to modern options...

Anyway I was wondering if you could give an opinion on the Ian Paice sig? It sounds pretty dry and vintage for a steel shell, nice pop sound. I have tried one in a shop but I was wondering what you could say as an owner? there is only so much you can find out in a shop. cheers

  • thoroughly kicked my ass

    5 stars

    that was beast

  • nice drums,nice playing!

  • Hey man, nice!!! 65 ludwig, lets see you making some effort. and stop being a Fucking goon!!

  • I am now waiting for 65ludwig to put a video up of him playing. Whats the betting he wont?????

  • @65ludwig For a 57 year old you need to grow up and stop speaking like a petulant child. OH and it is my day job and I make a very good living out of it. So go away let people enjoy things and if you dont like DONT WATCH.

  • Keith Moon didn't believe in drum solos.

  • Yes we are all well aware of that!

  • that was awesome!!! im a drummer also, but you were great!

  • Nice copy of the '68 kit, even down to the Rogers Swiv-O-Matic tom holder and placement on the left bass drum.

  • damn! not bad at all, I think he would have been flattered if he saw this!

  • Grandeeeee!

  • hey sgtcrag, can you put up a new video with all the lokfast booms and stands and stuff? like another drum solo?

    cheers!

  • CLON xD

  • I want!

No high hat means you can concentrate doing exotic double bass flams, but it's always good to have around just for that extra sound!

Good on you mate for the wild drum solo, Keith Moon probably applaud.

  • :P Keith Moon was known cus of 2 things

    1. He was the only drummer who wasn't using a high hat

    2. The muppets based ANIMAL on him :D!!

  • @gifak

Actually in his early years of playing with the who he did use hi hats.

And hardly anyone knew that animal was based on keith.

What he was really known for was how insane he was

And how good at drumming he was

    (the best in the world)

  • Not bad. Had the energy and raw edge of his stylings. As a huge Moon fan I am so glad that Zak Starkey is playing with the Who now, especially since they`re playing the Super Bowl. Even though Zak is not Keith, he`s light years closer than Kenny Freakin` Jones. Cheers.

  • Starkey did learn some from Kieth, infact his first drum kit was keith's monster white premiere kit. and i completely agree with you in that Zak is the best possible replacement for kieth.

  • @iDrum63 ...although l am a fan of Zach, l think Simon Philips was a better match as a drummer for The Who

  • Speaking of the "monster white kit" that is my next project!!

  • Excellent my friend. I had previously owned a replica of the Charlton '74 kit assembled by myself from years of searching but I have a couple of beautiful Ludwig kits, 60s and 70s and I felt like I was hoarding so I sold it up.

As a great admirer of Moon, and someone whose style I too have absorbed since my young days, I am 32 now, you're doing a great job sgtcrag. Look forward to the next upload.

  • That's the nads - good job, mate! We had one of the few Pictures of Lily kits to be allocated to the UK -sold now, but you would've loved it.

  • Cheers 8eatm0nster! Trouble is with the Lily kit is that it was all wrong! Wrong lugs for a start which made it look like a poor job, why Premier didnt go all out and make an "exact" replica (like Ludwig) with the Bonham re-issue kits is beyond me! My kit is a better replica, all the correct parts from the correct era, and around £3K less (from RRP of the lily kit!) One thing I will say though is that the artwork was pretty good!

  • BRAVO !!!!!!

    killer!

  • No Hi hat? aw man...

  • where did you find the rogers swivomatic tom helders? ebay or gumtree? also where did you find the premier booms?

  • I didnt get the rogers tom holders, the guy who put it all together did. You will need to look at american Ebay as there is more rogers bits floating around. premier booms were found on uk ebay. I have only seen the ones I brought. Just have to keep looking.

  • I love drumming its just too expensive, I need some new skins but I always just buy some new cymbals then im out of cash! btw nice solo :D

  • your solo is actually pretty cool.

  • all you now need is the lokfast stands!but with the boom, that will be hard to find!

  • @camerooniepooniepoo - I have the lokfast hi-hat stand, 2 premier 250 pedals, lokfast snare stand and 3 lokfast cymbal stands, AND I have located 2 boom arms, but they are very very rare. I didnt have those bits when the video was done, I will be putting a new one up in a few weeks.

  • awesome, can you put up a video then?!!

  • where did you get this drum kit from?!

  • Hi Camerooniepooniepoo, please see the info at the side of the video. I did not buy this kit from a shop it is specialy made from parts brought from various sources. Thanks
