And according to US news high school ranking, California has just about 10% of the best high schools. And according to US news high school ranking, California has just about 10% of the best high schools. California is also home to a couple of the few HS's to have ALL existing AP classes, and in San Diego we have the only k-12 "International Baccalaureate" continuum in the nation.

I agree that the truly lazy people should not be allowed to just swallow up our welfare, but there are definitely plenty people who are plenty deserving of it. And btw, the rich have PLENTY of money to helptherestofthecountry

@nibblerseven You need to get out more often. THERE ARE NO POOR PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY. Try watching the shows on the History Channel. THOSE were poor people. Every welfare slob has a roof over their heads, at least one car, spinners on their wheels, running up $400 bill on cell phones, cable, color TV, computers, air conditioning, two cart-loads of steaks, chicken and pork and they NEVER pay their medical bills. Because the taxpayers foot the bill for that, it drives up the cost of everything.

@kperk014 Maybe you should try to get out more often. There are people like that, and Im not sure where you live, but there are definitely poor people in this country. They might not be as poor as people in the great depression were or as poor as people in other countries, but there are definitely poor people. And the reason that they dont pay their medical bills is because the cost are so damn high that they had might as well not even try to.

What you seem to not realize, just from what I got from this conversation, is that there are some families out there who really do benefit from welfare programs who could be working, but there are no jobs. Oh, and what, do you want to go back to when the 1700s when we had debtors' prison? I bet that THAT would solve ALL our problems.

@kperk014 Our sanctions to Cuba made it so that they couldnt produce any new cars, and fucked-up-russia (which has always been fucked up) couldnt even produce enough for itself, but thats not the point. Yeah, this is definitely pointless. And trust me, there are definitely no communists in the government. There is no way that they would have gotten enough money to fund a campaign. Not in this country.

@nibblerseven People have be smart with their money. I was married for 15 years and our household income was never over $38,000. We didn't blow it on beer, 8 packs of cigarettes a day @ $5 a pop, pot, crack, crank etc, spinners, TVs in every room and on and on. We managed our money wisely and were able to have a good lfe. As far as the rich, why can't you knuckleheads understand that when you raise taxes on the rich, they raise prices of their goods and services and YOU end up paying for it!!!

@kperk014 Oh, I absolutely agree with you as far as spending money wisely, and its not like I think that everyone should be entitled to whatever they want, but I do believe that people should have to completely worry about every cent that they spend just to get by. Most people should be able to survive on what they make, which is mainly the point that I am making. And then, why should the rich be allowed to make hundreds of people suffer just so they can keep their tremendous fortunes?

That's right, there are no jobs, and the ones that are there pay so little that might need another underpaying job just to get by. But then how does permitting companies to export jobs and pay their current employees so little while giving the executives tax cuts make any sense?

There are people who really need it. But the system is too easy to abuse - and we're broke ... and it's getting abused more now than ever. And the answer from the Dem's is "more" programs for handouts that buy votes. In California - liberals are proposing a law that will require 15 min breaks - every 2 hrs for baby-sitters. It's awaiting the Gov's signature. Maybe Mom can cut out of the movie midway to relieve the sitter for 15 mins. You wonder why jobs leave?

Because California has one of the highest average household incomes in the world, 12 of the highest ranking universities, most of the US's technology industry is in Silicon Valley, the entire entertainment industry comes from Hollywood, we're the eighth largest economy in the world.
