Aug. 23 - Why isn't this date celebrated as a national holiday/memorial day in Spain? The struggle, spirit and sacrifice of these people should be honored and remembered for time immemorial by the Spanish people.

The irony being the Romans commemorate the date and their defeat by never engaging in battle on that day. Yet in Spain it should be celebrated as a triumph of their spirit.
