@daniel104104104 I'd be very surprised if they were locals. The way they're dressed, the fact that it's 22/02/11, and they've got a smile on their faces. No chch resident would get into a rupture like that with those aftershocks going off. We've had thousands of them since the 7.1 in september last year. Mind you, they're not necessarily being morbid...communications were destroyed all over town. They probably had no idea of the horrors that were transpiring 2 kms down the road.

If you were where I was on that day, seeing people lying in the street, pulling rubble off people's dead bodies, and helping the wounded to Hagley Park you would know that there was no God in Christchurch that day.

My deepest condolences to the people who have lost family in this tragedy. I live in Peru and in 2007 had a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in the city of Pisco, its cathedral, like Christchurch, was destroyed and roads were broken in the same way. Do not give up, material things can be replaced, what counts is being alive. I'm sure you'll come out ahead.
as for the end of the world theories, i do think this is a sign of the world ending, however I don't believe 2012 is the date, rather I have heard 2026 is the potential last year. However this is not set in stone, especially if we embrace "hope in the true sense" according to "2026-the end of the world" on YT.

The earth's surface is made of plates which are moving v. slowly due to currents in the underlying magma causing pressure to build up which suddenly releases occasionally in sudden bursts.

Ideas of divine punishment are the result of peoples tendency to project human qualities onto the world such as thinking that trees and even inanimate objects have a mind or spirit. The human mind is concerned so much with social interaction that we also attribute consciousness to non-human objects.

@MrGlazed It sounds like most of your knowledge about the world has come from the bible, but there's a huge amount of information out there that answers your questions. Knowledge has increased tremendously since the bible, we've found out how to uncover what is true eg. what causes disease, what is in space etc. The bible was written by people who knew very little how the world works and made up stories like children do. This is why there are hundreds of old creation myths around the world.

If you want a book to live your life by, try Wilfrid Hodge's "Logic." Or The Hitchhikers' Guide To The Galaxy, it tells you a lot more about how the universe works than any "holy" book.

@daniel104104104 I'd be very surprised if they were locals. The way they're dressed, the fact that it's 22/02/11, and they've got a smile on their faces. No chch resident would get into a rupture like that with those aftershocks going off. We've had thousands of them since the 7.1 in september last year. Mind you, they're not necessarily being morbid...communications were destroyed all over town. They probably had no idea of the horrors that were transpiring 2 kms down the road.

If you were where I was on that day, seeing people lying in the street, pulling rubble off people's dead bodies, and helping the wounded to Hagley Park you would know that there was no God in Christchurch that day.

My deepest condolences to the people who have lost family in this tragedy. I live in Peru and in 2007 had a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in the city of Pisco, its cathedral, like Christchurch, was destroyed and roads were broken in the same way. Do not give up, material things can be replaced, what counts is being alive. I'm sure you'll come out ahead.

as for the end of the world theories, i do think this is a sign of the world ending, however I don't believe 2012 is the date, rather I have heard 2026 is the potential last year. However this is not set in stone, especially if we embrace "hope in the true sense" according to "2026-the end of the world" on YT.

The earth's surface is made of plates which are moving v. slowly due to currents in the underlying magma causing pressure to build up which suddenly releases occasionally in sudden bursts.

Ideas of divine punishment are the result of peoples tendency to project human qualities onto the world such as thinking that trees and even inanimate objects have a mind or spirit. The human mind is concerned so much with social interaction that we also attribute consciousness to non-human objects.

Knowledge has increased tremendously since the bible, we've found out how to uncover what is true eg. what causes disease, what is in space etc. The bible was written by people who knew very little how the world works and made up stories like children do. This is why there are hundreds of old creation myths around the world.

@perrin6 and no out morals haven't gotten better, We have became accepting of everything, i would describe this as losing ones conscience, the Bible says something about this, near end times sin will become acceptable, FYI, gay marage has become an acceptable practice, porn, the whole being a virgin isn't cool, the bible prophecies are happening weather you like it or not, that's why people like myself, will argue the point.

@MrGlazed Our morals are much better now, we no longer consider it moral to kill people for working on the sabbath, we abolished slavery (In the bible, god gives instructions on what to do with slaves, there is no commandment against owning people as property), women are considered to have equal rights to men (unlike in the bible when god allows men to treat women & children as property and even considers it good when a man sacrifices his daughter to him).

@perrin6 i have a testimony to share, it happened half and hour ago, but this isn't just for you perrin6, its for whoever has faith, my friends dad and my friend just went to the shops, about 20mins ago, i have just been told this by the way, so he had parked in a spot that had no cars next to is either side, he had parked there, locked the car, and he said, "i think i should move the car, i don't want it getting damaged" so he moved it near some trees a few meters away, so they got their items,

@perrin6 And as they where walking out of the shop, a car was parked in front of where they had first parked, before they moved it, any way, the car in front of the previous place they had parked, reversed into another car that had parked where my friend had first parked, it was ONLY god prevision it is 100% true i didn't make it up i promise, hopefully this has inspired any people that read this comment.

@MrGlazed What makes you think god cares about damage to cars ? The idea that god is looking after people is ridiculous, he couldn't even look after his own son so what makes you think he would care about peoples property and yet allow millions of innocent people including children to die of malaria, aids, cancer, starvation etc, it's ridiculous. We can all pretend that everything good that happens is from god & everything bad that happens is a punishment, but there is no actual evidence.

@MrGlazed Ever since man was existed whether you believe in creationism or evolution we have always behaved like this! It didn't just start happening a few years ago. All children rebel against their parents as teenagers. Of course people want money because we can buy things with it, knowledge has increased since we've existed. And The Bible also says the world is flat and the moon creates light.

@HeadbangingLegend would you care to quote the verse saying the earth is flat and the moon creates light? because im sure you have misconstrued it, and yes you are probably correct children have disobeyed parents to a certain point, but never broken the boundaries of modern say teens/children, and knowledge has very slowly increased, but boomed in the last few decades, regardless of how these things have happened, they have, the bible is being vividly fulfilled.

What makes you think teens only just started being naughty now? And it says in Genesis that God created the 2 light sources the Sun and the Moon. But the Moon is a reflector not an emitter. @HeadbangingLegend if you assumed the "earth was flat" due to the verse, Revelation 7:1 assumes a flat earth since the verse refers to angels standing at the “four corners” of the earth, Actually, the reference is to the cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west. again you misconstrue, Proverbs 8:27 also suggests a round earth by use of the word circle, and yes people have always rebeled, but has the rebellion not spiked in the last few years?

@MrGlazed Since when did North South East and West have/go to corners??? And no rebellion has not spiked in the last few years why would you think that? See there's this thing called the pendulum effect. Parents teach their kids to be the way they see fit, but when they get to a certain age they learn that their parents are not immortal and they can think for themselves so they end up opposite to what their parents wanted. The stricter they are to their kids, the more they swing the other way.

@HeadbangingLegend to your "pendulum effect" comment, I'd say this, it is only when a parent is obsessive to a point where the child gets very mad that they will rebel, but if everything is in balance with their upbringing they will be morally adequate when they are a teen/adult, also so depend on who they hang around, but that's off topic, any way, and to your north, south, etc, comment, i think you are being pedantic, they would be equal distance away from each other. don't take all literally

@MrGlazed Where you mention "they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom" that is how people are! We fight those who are against us and our family and friends. If you read the bible's so called predictions you will see that they are actually really common things which can be mistaken for a lot of things.

@MrGlazed RE: bible prophesies such as the world's end; Jesus thought the end of the world was near which is why he wanted men to leave their wives and children etc and follow him & what he meant by 'the kingdom of heaven is close at hand'. He wouldnt want family break-ups unless he thought the world was ending, but he was wrong. Since then many thought the world was ending whenever disasters were occurring such as plagues, wars, famines etc. It's seems to be part of the human psyche.
