  • trop de bon souvenir sur cette musique, j'adore

  • She looks like Estelle. Don't you think so?

  • @bravogulcin Really? You need your eyes checked. Jody Watley looks nothing like Estelle.Different facial features, skin tone, hair, teeth and gums, eye shape, so on and so on. Major fail.

  • i love the song, a night remember....

  • awesome

  • jody Wattley missing in this group forever ...

  • I was spinning records in those days, in clubs. And those were the days of advance 12" records, with just writing on the labels & the radio was not playing what we were, for months. We use to 'break' records. Anyway I used to get two of just about everything & used to tease the crowds out to the floor with bit & pieces of this record's breaks & insturmentals & wait...wait to 'drop' Jodie's first vocals in, with a dark floor & when she sang "When you love someone..." the place would go nuts.

  • @captbobnj like the 'break' at 2:20...but we had 'scratch' B with no vocals too, as I recall.

  • Thank God the X.Factor didnt exist in the 1970's !

  • love the song...

  • OVED IT!

  • just heard my Mom listening to this song while she was jogging. I'm so downloading it now. I wish I was at that concert, it seems like there was much less to worry about back then, everyone is having such a good time. Old school music is so much better than today.

  • i can smell a flock of fresh sweat, kouros from YSL all togheter with the first nip of a new ordered Rhum-Cola! tsjieuww! :))

  • i loved jodie . sad but true, btw moonwalking started in the 50's jeff re vamped it and a decade later micheal jackson claimed it....lmao at jackson

  • @getrealuk In the 70's it was revamped by Electric Boogaloos they performed it on Soul Train, and taught Daniels though he never credits them. Michael turned that move out OWNED it never said he invented it just added an exclamation point. MJ just added it to his already legendary arsenal as a performer, lmao at him? Hardly. Daniels was a good dancer but unless you're on drugs he couldn't carry Michael's Grammy case, makeup bag or sing his way out of anything, and I liked Shalamar, get real

  • even this live version sounds great.......unlike a lot of bands now.....lol

  • it's so COOL because it's live! It takes me to there at that moment quiet instant, audioquality is not an issue to come in this great moment captured there *******7stars!

  • i think the back up singer-the one in the background-is Dave Chappelle..lol

  • pause it at about 1:12/1:13 and you can get a good look..

  • @chucrb Shalamar backing vocalist was Jermaine Stewart who himself went on to his own hit solo career with selections like The Word Is Out, Say It Again and We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off

  • Comment removed

  • you can smell them its real

  • Golden times, I love it.

  • yeaaaah with the ANIMAL PRINT!!!!!

  • 1:13 .. is this JERMAINE STEWART in the white shirt ? #LOL

  • Wow they did a real nice live version of this song.

  • real LIVE music !!!!!!!!!!! not like the rubbish today!!!

  • Howard H is so sexy and his voice is amazing and still is. Jody was a beautiful young woman and I thought she was just as talented. I think their management tried to rob them of their money. Too bad...They deserved the best!!

  • ok ima dance

  • ... love this song. :o)

  • @yoshiyasugt I just scanned your barcode and it came back as a packet of frozen peas. Buy 1 get 1 free............nice.

  • Nice to see jermaine Stewart in the background

  • YAAA

  • and some say Jody can't sing. I beg to differ. She sounds great here and always had a good voice.

  • @cjs33139 She always had the most charisma and star quality hands down a true icon in the game.

  • Jody Watley ... She was fine!!!

  • real music...no autu-tune BS! a beginning, middle and end...If u dont know better ask somebody! luv this tune!

  • Al of Shalamar's music is hot!

  • Et que dire de celle là, et en live pfff le bonheur...

  • pourquoi on ne voit plus ces zicos !!!!

    shame on 2000'

  • He not only taught Micheal to moon walk he taught him period the end to do it all..checkout Jeffrey Daniels web site.this dude is THE ORIGINAL RUBBER BAND MAN..you gotta have elastic in your joints get my drift..This group is dance central as in the glass disco ball.. 70's soul train dancers..haha those were the days what happened..

  • @Kanescollectibles A bit of old fashioned research might do you wll. What I know is Jefrry Daniels learned his poping moves from Cooley Jaxson and Casper Geron Candidate from a dance crew named Electric Boogaloos who got down on Soul Train he never credits them oh yea Michael was already a superstar performer and singer from a child

  • She looks much better without all that make-up.

  • Demanding-A, understanding-A "oh Jody"

  • Love this song!!!!

  • Excelente registro!!! Bons tempos de música de verdade.

  • excelente cancion, gracias por subir el video

  • Maybe Obama can get them back together for a show!

  • @MultiCrystal1 LMFAO....I Love You For That Comment!

  • Must be great going on stage with so much talent.

  • Is that Jermaine Stewart in the striped pants?

  • @TheSkeetergirl No, it is Jeffrey Daniels. He was the guy who TAUGHT Michael Jackson how to moonwalk!

  • @2710Pocahontas Check out Cooley Jaxson channel on youtube and Electric Boogaloos who Daniels saw body pop on Soul Train they taught Daniels as well as Michael Jackson tho Michael was already a gifted star singer performer and influenced by Fred Astaire, Gene Kelley and so on but he made all the moves his own There were many dancers from the Electric Boogaloos dance crew Poppin Taco Casper Geron Candidate who taight the Daniels dude pop locking and back sliding funny he never mentions it

  • Oh I remeber it all too well (we did make it a night to remember ) the way we danced when I first heard this song........

  • Wow..what more can I say ..get up and dance..what happened to these awesome riffs..Proves a simple song same chorus ..who cares..these 3 got it down..

  • Awwww look at Jody Wately, she keepin up with them dudes in her heels go head girl!

  • Class, pure class...

  • nice

  • Notice the very last notes : it reminds a bit of Earth,Wind & Fire 's "Fantasy", the last notes too just before the song("Fantasy") starts for real with the percussion and everything...pay attention to it and you'll see...

  • @VintageSoundsNumber1

I wrote the ending ending with the guitar player, I'm the white keyboard player...never thought of Earth Wind & Fire

  • @barrysarna

Nice to know that ! You guys all did a great job;... One miss those days !

  • @barrysarna totally agree.. earth wind and fire..do not see it..ths riff is one that just is one of those songs that sticks in your head..it flows and the funny part its a simple chourus ober and over but man does it put you in the dancing mood....these 3 got it down period the end..who are you playing keyboard with now>?

  • there's even congas and other percussions(cow bells...) : complete ! This one is one 100% real and authentic performance ! Sure the guys who were there (Tops Of The Pops) in 1982/83 still remember that magical moment !

  • I gotta say also that on that version, one may miss the trumpets and strings(violins) one would hear on the original/album version ...the player's staff is quite complete, with bass, keyboards, drums, guitars, even background vocalists as in the studio; but they could have added at least one trumpet player...

  • except for that brother (the one playin' keyboards) ... was it the Solar staff that used to accompagny them or other musicians ...??

  • @VintageSoundsNumber1

I was the white keyboard player in the video. The band sometimes played on Shalamar albums..but some not. Many of us worked on other Solar albums. I did Whispers and Klymaxx as well....

  • The Shalamar staff (musicians) was 100% black

  • Funny -- thought I remembered every episode of The Tube, but I really don't recall rushing home early from work on a Friday to see this one . . .

  • Yeah! This is when Jody was heading towards becoming a Black Madonna!

I believe she could have had the same success as Madonna but things were different back then.

What a shame! Some of the best 80's music we'll never get a chance to hear!

  • this is the best i ever heard them sing live

  • OM GEEEEEE.....nobody could eff with Shalamar, damn I miss this group, you can see in this performance that Jody wasnt effin feeling Howard, LOL but I still love this group as a whole and of course the solo Ms. Jody Watley. Notice singing background was Jody's good friend Jermaine Stewart(RIP) good stuff.

  • where is this??

  • Lol 2:08 getting down

  • Lindo demais !!!

  • The contrast between Jody and Howard's voice was simply magic. Along with Jeffrey's magnetic dancing, Shalamar had it goin' on.

  • I Love songs from the 80s! They surely don't make them like this anymore! it sucks.

  • Amoooo.... Pode passar quantos anos forem necessários, jamais deixarei de amar essa música e época. Pena não ter vivido na década de 70 para curtir muito esses sons...

  • Okay, they ARE the darlings of the 80's.

  • How much would you pay to get into a time machine and go to this gig?

  • amo essa musicaa

  • Reminds me of Eveline high school zimbabwe. mcintosh hostel. does anyone remember those days.

  • All of today's hip-hop noise and whiny-sounding female vocalists cannot match this kind of soulful funk artistry. Jody Watley, Jermaine Stewart and Jeffery Daniel (the man who taught M.J. how to do the moonwalk) are timeless. The memories a "Night to Remember" in mid-'82 remain alive with this song...

  • Nows this one really takes me bavk.

  • you can't hear the bass! :o(

  • love da song soo much! reminds me of da old days!

  • I love Shalamar's vocals how Howard and Jody's vocals blended together so well on their songs while Jefferey and Jermaine Stewart background vocals take their songs to a higher level. And their studio band kicks ass on this cut.

  • all the way live.. and so close to the recorded song. great..

  • omg jodey watley was young there.

  • NICE!!!! Look at the outfits! Look at the stage. That was back when people still sang in front of a live band and actually sang into the mic. Now it's performance tracks.

  • yeah you right this group was the shit ,dam just look how they steppin to the beat when the song breaks down at 2:18 the chemistry is off the chain i believe they broke up due to egos and financial conflict with the Solar records

  • wow they were really good, what happened? why did they end it?

  • Yes this is another example of how potent their singing, delivery & energy was in live concerts ....Howard, Jody & Jeffrey had a strong stage prescence but behind the scenes things were less than positive. Check out Shalamar Unsung & Jody's Unfiltered Comments on what led to the demise of the group on by searching for it on here. Also, the lead singer before Hewett, Gerald Brown, commented on Jody's Part 1 of her Unfiltered video ahd further illuminated why they broke up.

  • thanks I'll check it out... any chance for a possible Shalamar reunion??

  • @yurherenow no, according to jody watley!

  • thanks! where do we find the "unfiltered comments" on Gerald Brown?

  • Search here under Jody Watley unfiltered. Gerald Brown is on here as Shalamarman and he spoke on Jody Watley's Unfiltered response to the Shalamar Unsung documentary on why he left, what money was owed them and why he was not included in the TV One documentary Shalamar Unsung.

  • DAYYYUUUMMM...

  • JUST AWESOME !!!

  • This will be the jam forever. It doesn't hurt that Howard Hewitt was FINE!!

  • No doubt about that! =)

  • All I can say is AMEN! The chord changes and rhythym of this song -- well, it just goes right thru your soul. I want to hear this live.....but I'm just dreaming unfortunately.

  • this is too funny. there usedto be a girl on soul train who did that kind of punk rock move. i love that dance.

  • ever get a song stuck in your head that won't go away?

  • @sprunglikedonkeykong ...yeah, for 25+ years.

  • @sprunglikedonkeykong yes! i hadnt heard it in a while, im in the car and it came on and i was blastin it lol i had to look it up cuz it got stuck in my head

  • @sprunglikedonkeykong Yes this one lol.

  • I love this song cause i heard on many nights to remember

  • yes guys . it is Jermaine in the background . He was one of our friends from the Soul Train set .He and Jody were very close . He influenced my lead vocals on " Stay Close To Love " and " Lovely Lady " on Shalamar's Disco Gardens album .

  • If that guy singing background not Jermaine Stewart, then he damn sure has a twin somewwhere in this world!! Look just like him to me!!

  • @mistaeric It is Jermaine Stewart

  • @MUSICENCYLOPEDIA no it's not...his name is howard hewitt....jermaine was not in this group..

  • @JCfallarah Jermaine Stewart used to sing background for Shalamar when they toured. Howard and Jody were the lead singers

  • this is brilliant. totally brightened my day.

  • Jermaine Stewart is in the background singing in back of Shalamar... Damn, I loved them so much... Thank God they are all still performing (even if it's not together).

  • awesome !

  • The original moonwalker Jeffrey Daniels!!!

  • I Love this Song!! wooooooooo

    weeeeeeee!

  • I really miss Shalamar and their great music. Today there is nothing but crap out there. Hopefully Rap is winding down and we can get back to real music.

  • Amen to that!

  • GO JODY WATLEY!!!

  • YES!!!

  • jermaine stewart on backing vocals ^^

  • This is when you could hit the floor dancing and have a great time with every other person on the dance floor. It was such a fun time. You could go out with a date and meet strangers just out having a fun time dancing all evening.

  • AAWESOME!!

  • this is the MFKI'N SHIT we need today CHI...TOWN

  • fantastic,bring back the oldies.

  • omg what a feel good song. i missed this one back then. so to hear this after 20+ years and i can feel the same feel of that era through this song its amazing and exciting. kick ass song and howard is sexy as hell in this. love the fact they are actually performing and singing. something you cant get much of these days. jeffrey is awesome and i've always loved jodi. brings back a lot of memories seeing their fashion and hair lol.

  • I just discovered this song tonight. It's awesome!! They're a good live band, too!

  • Back when groups could dance and still pull off their vocals!! Howard was and is the man!!

  • this is going to be my wedding song

  • love this song so much!! Shalamar freaking rocks!!!!!!

  • wow I didn't realize Shalamar was so big in the UK?

  • If you watch UnSung on TVOne, you will find some very interesting.

  • @clarkcougar86 Those two shows made think about every type of music like an miss i've got about 6 pages of music

  • one of the biggest us artists here at the time mate, and i still love them

  • and i'm filled with a love that's oh so.. TENDER BABY!!! <3

  • Is that a fanny pack on Howard Hewett? lmao

  • Is Howard wearing leg warmers????!!!!

  • Hush he was a sexy mutha with those leg warmers lol

  • Unique video. Grat quality. Thanks for posting it

  • OK! NOw Im getting why when Jody and Howard adlib together you still here a 2 tone harmony when it s totally live

Jeff does lead chorus line and Jermaine picks up the higher second voice done by Jody! Excellent! Tahts why tehy sound so great the whole time! DAYUM this was FUCKING good stuff wasnt it?!!!

  • YES INDEED!!!

  • yes thats jermaine in the back singing

    backup..aww how sweet he was yng...rip jermaine..we still love & listen 2 u

  • Can I be 16 years old again like I was in 1982 and have my parachute pants and prince - like jheri curl and listening to Shalamar's "Night to Remember" once more just for a weekend just to live like a 16 y.o. with the knowledge I have today as an adult? Mr. Roarke, I want to go to fantasy island set it up.

  • Take me with you I was 16 in 1982 too. LOL!!!

  • excellent ! many nights to remember !

  • Go Jeefrey, Go Jeffrey! One of the greatest entertainers & dancers of all time.

  • wow..does this take me back down memory lane...1982 great year for music

  • what a great performance, the band was tight and the vocals were on! wish shalamar would've lasted longer.

  • my dad played in that he is 50 something now

  • is that Jermaine stewart singing backing vocals????

  • It sure is!

  • omg I love shalamar back in the day i was in love with both guys, but jeffrey's my man

  • The story is.......Michael ask Jeffrey to teach him the moonwalk back in the day!....They knew each other growing up in the L.A. area.....Jeff is the ORIGINAL Moonwalker!!!!!

  • Still a great song & we still play at our partys today. LOVE this song. They sound great live...thanks for sharing cheers :)

  • Love Shalamar. Howard has a GREAT voice, and listen how he played with the original melody, improvising with his vocal, the sign of a great singer who REALLY understands MUSIC. and jeffrey did the moonwalk first, yes, I remember........

  • BLGS

    5t7t-4

  • Do my eyes deceive me or is Jermaine Stewart (

"We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off") one of the backup singers?

  • Oh man it sounds like on the original record. This is so amazing, I just love it. I'm sure you see the same musician playin here live like on LP! Thats why it sounds so FAT and so perfect! I love it! 5 Stars!

  • my favorite performance of this song! love howard's "and I'm with a love that's oh so.. TENDER BABY!"

  • jeffery daniels is responable for micheal jacksons moves. He was micheal's dance teacher!

  • Michael was a talented dancer long before he met J.Daniel Jeffrey was one of the ppl responsible for teaching Mike the moonwalk, and he also choreographed the Bad and Smooth Criminal videos, but everything else Michael did was due to God-given talent.

  • This was still when singers had to actually be able to sing and look good. Nowadays, it seems if you just look good, the studios can manufacture you a voice (like groups on MTV Making the Band, etc.). There a few talented real singers today (Heather Hedley, Mary J, Alicia Keyes, Jill Scott and just a few others). Sad how music across the board, R&B and Pop had drastically declined talent wise.

  • I totally agree with you. Know what I noticed, I dont think that Its that music itself sucks, I believe that its the fact that the ratio of Good music to (executive/commercialized crap) is so much higher. You have to sort through all the bad music to find the artists like Heather Headley, etc. Im so turned off to R&B and pop now adays,I look to the past again and Seldomly ill find an artist today that I like.(I have found a few but some are foreign) For bands.. I love the "Brand New Heavies"

  • For pure r&b/soul try Anthony Hamilton...he reminds the world of Otis Redding, Sam Cooke & Bill Withers....

  • only one night ? I LOVE FOR EVER !

AFTER THE LOVE HAS GONE It's the VERY LOVE APPEARS

IS THE LOVE FOR EVER !

    TECKMASSE

    EYES WATER FALLING

  • Doesn't Jeffrey Daniels remind you of Raphael Saadiq?

  • JD reminds me of Jermaine Stewart a little.

  • Do my eyes deceive me or is that Jermaine Stewart on background vocals?

  • Im not sure if I see him but I remember that in an interview Jermaine Stewart said he *was* a Backing singer for Shalamar. It might indeed be him now that I look at it.

  • Hello---"Every one wants some of Jody"!!

That was his tribute to his beloved former boss.

Another interesting note in Shalamar trivia is the fact that Jody's lil sis was a huge porn star in the late 90's. Midori is what she went by.

  • so what!

    jerk

  • I would have to say that your hostility has left me perplexed for it is without provocation and therefore misdirected---and that you're a sour bitch. Ciao

  • Real musicians, real instruments and real voices. No electronic ProTools enhancement or anything. And a brilliant, passionate song. Love it!

  • I've loved Shalamar since high school. I agree. Real everything. Hope they get together and perform sometime.
