They evolved the scam by putting their own advert in Loot newspaper and showing it to you as proof of price. There is also another back story where they claim the speakers are excess to a filled order.

It was tried on me while walking to Victoria station.

I got them to take me to the Abbey on Victoria St and they kept circling as they couldn't park and while they were on a lap of the one way system I wandered over to the tube and went to work.

I've often thought the same thing, particularly listening to these old XFM shows. I think Gervais has more range as an actor, but in these clips, Merchant just slays me.

Anyway, started listening to the old XFM shows from scratch again recently and heard this the other week. Steve isn't used anywhere near as much as he should be. He's got some great stories to tell and matches Karl on his day. If you've heard the one about the car and pig at a party, you'll know what I mean.
