I worked at Republic Pictures for 17 YEARS. I have seen this film like a million times. Republic lost the rights because this puppy lawyer forgot to renew the copyright. I was right there. I ran it for him on the movieola. OH well. Republic is long gone now. But this film will last forever.
@FilmFTW1 THANK GOD!!!!! That other comment scared me. I thought Damn, I thought it was B/W! My computer is slow loading. My mother fell for colorized junk. They just don't get it. Beautiful as intended.
@andymill32 Actually, if you change the tint to increase the redness (move the tint's dial to the left) to the point where the skin actually matches a normal color skin, it doesn't look bad. Still looks fake, but better than the official color version provided by Legend Films (why can't they balance the reds properly?). But I would definitely stick with the original Black and White.

I think the kids who play the young George, Mary and Violet are wonderful in this movie. There is such a maturity to them and they convey the feelings of the scene. I also get tickled at mary when she whispers in his ear. She doesnt know for sure that is his bad ear yet she says "George Bailey 'll love you until the day I die" so what if he really was hearing her out of his good ear would she have felt embarassed lol
Didnt know I would get tears at the end of this part....thank you so much for taking the time to upload this..I am going to get my sister to watch this with me over the weekend..Im in Florida and she is in Ohio, but I can have her on the phone while she and I and her daughters watch together.

@reggisity It is!!! Even the views weren't there you can figure most would own it on tape or DVD by now. Did you know this movie was so popular that many sitcoms or shows used it's plot in their christmas stories? Married w Children Al get to see peg and the kids if he was never born. Tiny toons cartoon special Buster is never born and Plucky takes over.
This film inspired me to become a film maker.
