  • Okay I have nothing against gay marriage, but I have to say, wasting money on taking kids to a marriage (of any sort) on a field trip is ridiculous!

  • " hey mom in school today I found out my teacher wears a strap-on" thoes parents should be ashamed of themselfs

  • Back in the day inter racial couples were not allowed to get married because of bigots like this. This is exactly the same.

  • oh the horror!!! *rollseyes* Seriously its not like they took the kids to watch a same sex porn. Their are straight teachers out their that are molesters go take action against them.

  • Once upon a time, Slavery was acceptable... (even in the bible apparently). Once upon a time, being racist was 'OK'. Once upon a time, being a sexist was 'OK' too. Now, as we all know they no longer are - and those who still are are irrelevant. Times are changing.... CHANGE -or BE IRRELEVANT!

  • why, what does it mean to you. How does it effect you. homophobe. Greedy, bigot, homophobe.

  • an historic accomplishment for human rights ... there's no way you can challenge the academic or learning quality witnessing that event. all my sister's students showed up to her wedding, really, what on earth is the big deal?

  • Private Schooling is a booming business, so if parents do not like what their local government run public schools are teaching, consider these alternatives, like home schooling.

This was taken before the people of California voted YES & won. And BTW, why was the other lady dressed up like a man? Who was she trying to fool? the kids or the parents?

  • According to the 'opt out' law, that stands in california, parents have the right to opt their kids out of classes, and that law will stand wether gay marriage is leagal or not.Two kids were actually opted out of the feildtrip, and parents of the kids in this ad have confirmed that they had the possibility to opt their kids out but didnt.

  • i hope to hell they start teaching kids to be accepting of other life styles. that way they won't grow up to be the bigots of today!

  • Agreed

  • hahaLook at all those kids being happy for their teacher. When will those kids learn? Its ok to hate a group of people as long as theyre different. The CA school system has failed us againsigh

  • As the person who posted this video said, the field trip was organized by parents......so who the hell cares? Let people love.....and from a kid's point of view it's like, "Oh, they're happy together. That's good!" Seeing a gay couple is not something that scars you for life in any way.

  • True...but my tax dollars still paid for this field trip. A public school seems to have paid for children to go see this. That only indicates support. Even if some parents agree and give others the option of not participating, the school should not be used for this. Maybe you can't understand, but that is exactly why the majority of Californians passed Prop 8.

  • No, majority of californians passed prop 8 because they were persuaded by the millions upon millions of dollars in ads that pathetic, bigot organizations continually barraged them with. You know, it's kind of sad - You expel gay right to marriage, just to stay that one foot above them. You happy now? Do you feel superior?

  • sanfranciso are home of the fags people should know this by now.

  • That red head needs to go straight. She's hot.

  • HELL YEA!! NO ON PROP 8!

  • heh, those no on 8 campaign think the yes on 8 is using scare tactics like saying same-sex marriage won't be taught in public schools. then right after, this happens. how am i supposed to believe the NOs that it won't be taught when shortly after this kind of stuff happens.

I have an advice for you NO on 8 people, next time if you want to trick us into thinking gay marriage won't be taught in our schools, do your marriages AFTER you win.

thank you no on 8 campaign for being so reckless & rash

  • I WOULD believe this ad... but too bad all that is already happening in Massachusetts, at least when it comes to effecting schools. It HAS happened and there is nothing that would keep it from happening anywhere else.

Good thing we don't have to worry about it, now that Prop 8 passed.

  • I think that you didn't watch the whole video. This video was in favor of Prop 8.

  • Perhaps I didn't quite understand it

  • sugar was writing in favor of the video :)

  • Cryan you're so busy talking about hate you can't even clearly understand the arguments against same-sex marriage. There are many valid ones. All you see is hate. Not a good resume for joining the debate.

  • Don't whine about supposed hate. Disagreeing with some of the most stupidest arguments by the Yes on Prop 8 people is not hate.

  • I, too, would be outraged if my child had been in that class, and outraged at the Hayward school that had "Coming Out Day" without notifying parents. The CA education code already directs that marriage is to be taught in school;96% of schools DO teach about marriage, usually with the family life unit. If 8 fails it's time to go to private school or home school--take our tax money OUT of public education! These above activities were a very poor use of school time! We must VOTE YES on 8!

  • "I, too, would be outraged if my child had been in that class"

Since this trip was organized by the parents (with permission slips) what offends you? It's not your children.

"The CA education code already directs that marriage is to be taught in school"

Actually only respect for marriage is taught. The particulars won't be taught in health/sex ed clases.

"If 8 fails it's time to go to private school or home school--"

That'll probably be best. You can hate gays there.

  • "take our tax money OUT of public education"

If Prop 8 wins, can gays be allowed to stop paying taxes to pay for your children's education?

"These above activities were a very poor use of school time!"

Again, parents organized the trip. Do you now want to tell other parents how to raise their kid?

  • Sorry cryan, I'm not exactly sure when you were in high school or where you got the idea that only respect for marriage is taught. But i recently graduated in 2007 and my health class was fully engaged in every detail of marriage and divorce during our family planning/life unit.

Particulars are being taught in schools as we speak.

  • If it's a sex ed class in high school (which requires parental permission), than that's a different situation from claiming that 2nd graders are being taught gay marriage and sex education.

Please give me the name of your school and location so I might call the principal and find out exactly what is being taught.

  • no it was not organized by parents, stop lying. it was the teacher who organized it and the liberal school system who approved it.

    dude, just stop lying already.

  • It was. They did a press conference when the YEs on 8 campaign used their children without permission in a commercial.

WHy the lying on your part?

  • cryan is right. The parents organized the field trip. It was a surprise to the teacher. Two students opted out. But...that still means that tax dollars went to fund the field trip and now everyone in school knows which two students opted out. This shouldn't be something that is taking place in schools, especially at such a young age. The parents could have taken their kids out of school and done it, but they did it through the school. That's bothersome.

  • there is nothing wrong with what they did. The kids probably didnt even really understand what was going on.

they're in fucking firs grade for crying out loud. they were just excited to throw flowers. And if the parents allowed their kids o go, then you have no fucking say cause its they're kids. If they were one of your kids then take them out, YOU shouldnt have the choice to deny someone somthing that THEY want to do. Your trying to contol or limit someones life. Who says you have the right?

  • actually i heard some parents didnt want their kids taught about homo marriage in school but officials said too bad, AND they wont be allowed to be notfied ahead of time! if not for this case, i know it was for another 1 (i think it was a homo marriage story read to kids). on prop 8 repealing; you dont have the right to FORCE people to believe homosexuality (not the impulse) is natural, moral, a marriage etc. see my playlist and comment OUTSIDE of those vids if u want me 2 see them. bye

  • i did and we won :)

  • Great juxtaposition to show the hypocrisy of those silly No on 8 t.v. ads!

  • Great video. What about the school in Hayward CA that had "Coming Out Day" in Kindergarten?! Parents weren't notified, therefore, couldn't opt out.

Oh yes, it is in the schools. The no on prop. 8 campaign is lying.

    Vote YES on Prop. 8!

  • Wow, I would be livid if my children's class had taken a "field trip" to a gay wedding. Teaching children about families and marriage is the responsibility and the RIGHT of parents. Don't let the government and gay activists take away your rights as a parents. Vote YES On Proposition 8! And send your children to private school or home school!

  • Gay marriage is already being taught in CA schools. Let's protect our children. YES on 8!

  • SACRAMENTO The parents of the two children most prominently featured in the latest multimillion dollar Prop 8 political spot today termed those ads distasteful and exploitative and demanded that the ads be taken off the air immediately. Some parents Laura Hodder and Matt Alexander and Jen Press and James Moore, sent hand-delivered letters to the Prop 8 Campaign demanding the ad be removed from its television and its Web site where it is being used as a fund raising tool.

  • Vote for proposition 8. It is the right thing to do.

  • Yes on 8!

  • You can learn a great deal about someone different from you. Don't ever shut them out.

  • I agree, VDSantos1, we can learn from them. But that doesn't mean we have to agree with it. California voters in 2000 already reaffirmed marriage is between a man and a woman. Prop 8 says the same thing, but as an amendment to the constitution. This doesn't shut anyone out, it only preserves the term "marriage" for the union between a man and a woman. It doesn't remove any rights held by same-sex unions. It only defines marriage as it has ALWAYS been.

  • "defines marriage as it has ALWAYS been. "

    Not even close to true.

Marriage has been defined in the past as:

    Polygamy

    A trade of property

A union between two members of the same sex (Romans, American Indians)

A non-religious contract between two individuals

    Etc

  • These children were not forced to go on this field trip. None were taken against the will of the parents. In fact, the parents organized this field trip, and two children opted out. Opting out is completely legal in California. It is the right of the parents to pull their child from any curriculum if they feel it goes against their personal beliefs and morals. A right that ALL Californians have, mind you.

  • The point is the time should not have been taken from regular studies(reading, writing, arithmetic). A field trip would have never been proposed if their teacher was marrying a man, and if it was I don't think it would have been approved.

  • Jesus would say "I do not condone this action of gay marriage.. nor do I condone the actions of those wishing to engage in this perverted version of marriage. Marriage is Holy. This perversion is NOT!"

Had God wanted marriage between a man and a man.. he would have made Steve instead of Eve... then there would be no need for Woman. And had that scenario worked out.. well.. it would still be the two boys in the Garden of Eden.

    Vote YES on 8!

Marriage is between Man and Woman.

  • Show me where in the bible Jesus ever said a goddamn things about homosexuality retard.

  • Genesis 19:5, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Deuteronomy 23:17, Isaiah 3:9, Romans 1:27, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 1 Timothy 1:10, Jude 1:7.

  • You can belive whatever you want. But what about the separation of church and state. Not all people belive in god,so why use the "god" argument, the bible also preaches sexism and racism, and i dont hear you complaining about how women shouldnt be able to work etc.

  • Seperation of Church and State has to do with the State setting up or passing laws.. So.. from the top down.. not the people voting and putting beliefs into law.

Seperation of Church and State has to do with the State can not dictate what your religion will be. As in the days before when the State or Country told you what you could believe and what you couldn't. There is a difference between traditions and cultures and laws of God.

  • For those who are for Prop 8... Can you not see that the children at the wedding were happy and excited for their teacher. If you are concerned about what your children learn at school, then be involved in your local school district rather than taking the easy road by denying equal rights to other Californians who pay taxes and want equality.

  • The kids didn't go to the actual wedding, but they did wait outside to surprise their teacher.

  • Um, how is this a bad thing? Everyone looks so happy. :)

  • One thing I'd like to see is someone in the mainstream media countering with "And? What's wrong with that?" when the Yes on 8 people mention that children will learn about gay people. That's based on their ignorance about the nature of homosexuality. It's innate. You don't "choose". A child will not become gay just because she went to her gay teacher's wedding. This hysteria is ludicrous and frankly insulting.

  • Well, actually most research shows that it is part nature and part nurture. No one really knows for sure. Also, I don't think that parents are worried so much about their child turning out gay as they are about the government teaching moral issues rather than the parents.

  • I'm not sure I understand the point of this video. Seems like a happy day for the couple, and if the parents had no problem with it, and instigated the arranged field trip, unknown to the married couple, like they did - and signed permission slips, like they did - what is the big deal?

  • Simply because a lot of parents do not want same-sex marriage in any part of public education. If you've ever had a child in school than you know that opting them out of a field trip or sex ed class or anything like that isn't a small thing. You're seen as the over-protective parent and your child as an outcast. Simply put, our tax dollars should in no way fund something that many of the tax payers have a moral problem with.

  • Two sets of parents didn't let their kids attend. It was their choice. No big deal. I don't judge them. The rest of the parents were wanting to have their kids go to on a field trip that the parents themselves arranged. This is a non-issue.

  • Fact remains, schools will NOT be required to teach "gay marriage" in the classroom. In California it's all up to the districts, not the state. But honestly, would you rather the kids learn about gay bashing versus a "tolerance" of people who are not like them? Speaking from experience, I'd rather have kid learn about respect for all people. Besides, the kids who are gay and will grow up to be married......are we not looking towards THEIR future? That's my concern. Not some field trip.

  • Kids can learn respect for all people without being taught specifics. Keep same sex education out of schools, vote yes on Prop. 8!

  • So the kids who know that they are gay in high school, like myself, should not get an education....?

  • Do they teach domestic partnerships in school?

  • Learn the facts before you make another video full of more lies. The parents came up with the trip because they loved the teacher.

  • Um...I was aware of that before making the video. The point is that No on Prop 8 is saying that legalized same-sex marriages will have no place in public education and that Yes on Prop 8 is lying by saying that it will. This just shows that it will have a place in public education. If you don't care about that, that's fine. A lot of people do care about that.

  • I think that the best thing to do is to look at where things went in Germany as same sex marriages were allowed to be, then followed father's being asked to sexualize their daughters and other perversions. God has stated that a man is not without the woman, and he meant it.

  • Please do englighten the group.

  • Yes, first graders in San Francisco attended their teacher's lesbian wedding as a field trip. Parents have to sign permission slips for field trips, too, even if it's to the post office. (Two parents opted out.) The parents could well have given permission for their children to attend a civil-union celebration. Prop. 8 wouldn't change what teachers read to children or whether students see their teachers in a loving same-sex relationship.

Keep lying, Joseph Smith would be so proud!

  • Can I ask what Joseph Smith had to do about anything you just said?

  • ldsteencenter?

  • It still had nothing to do with what you just said.

  • Here we go again.. cryan71 is pushing his typical anti-Mormon garbage again. Just ignore him.

  • what a beautiful day to get married and what a beautiful couple.

  • Typical propoganda from the hate gays crowd.

Every vote for prop 8 is like the stakes going through Jesus' hands. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

  • Why does this always have to be about hate? Tolerance is about loving a person, it doesn't mean to condone what a person does wrong. Jesus is the perfect example of love, but he doesn't love the sin.

  • He didn't love pharisees either -- which the prop 8 supporters are.

  • He did love the Pharisees. Remember the second great commandment he taught was to love our neighbor. He just didn't love what they did.

  • Just like he doesn't love what the modern day pharisees who support prop 8 do.

  • I agree he wouldn't like any bashing or name calling, but I haven't done that once so please don't categorize me. But I know with my whole soul that he wants this to pass, and I know that you will rebuke me on that. I will not change your views and you will not change mine, so let's just end this conversation civilly and agree to disagree.

  • And I know in my whole soul that he would never support proposition 8.

  • And again, we can agree to disagree.

  • But not on who gets the last word.

  • That just makes you look childish

  • Childish?

Couldn't be any more childish that one religion trying to impose itself on California.

    It's not a theocracy.
